[Q] How to solve the Mobile Data problem after Kit Kat update - Galaxy Grand 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have updated my Galaxy Grand 2 mobile to Kit Kat. Everything works fine as of now, except the Mobile Data.
Problem sequence:
1) Keep both wifi and mobile data on.
2) Turn off wifi
3) you will not get mobile data for (more) some time.
4) Later it is working (but not all time).
can somebody provide solution for this. This kind of issue is not there with 4.3.

Try this, for me is ok:
if you have mobile data on sim1, then:
1 - switch mobile data on sim2
2 - on prompt select "NO"
3 - and right away then select again mobile data on sim1
I hope it works...

Hi : )
This is strange ! but when I had something like this problem , followed this way.
1- turn off phone
2. Battery of the phone out too.
3. wait 30 minute
4- install battery and turn on the phone.
Hope to be useful for u.
Whats the ROM that are you using?
Is it the problem of your Signal?
check the data enabled on wireless & network setting
have the same problem with a specific carrier,, eg.. Global Telecoms. but since I've switch to different carrier(Sun cellular ph) with unlimited data plan or using sun cellular prepaid.. have no problem.
If it still does not work, check your apn settings, or check carrier service. sometimes it was so slow that google sync or market will not work.

[Q] Aurora: Problems with SIM

Since I don't have the required privileges to post in the development section I'm gonna try here.
I'm currently using the Aurora Rom and it's working excellent with the exception of two things:
I'm using a domestic roaming SIM (I think that's what it's called, my provider borrows network capacity from another provider) and the phone is acting a bit odd.
1. There's no icon to indicate what sort of data connection is currently active (edge, 3g, hspda etc.),
2. The phone randomly either A: Says I can only use emergency call and it indicates there's no signal, or B: Says there's no SIM-card present. Both of these can be resolved with rebooting the phone. They seem to appear at completely random intervals, but at least several times a day.
Neither of these issues are present if I use my work SIM which is the same provider as the network, I have a data connectivity icon and there's no fuzz with the SIM-card.
Both of these issues has been present at all versions of Aurora that I have tested.
If it is to any help I'm using a provider called OneCall in Norway.
hey mate, try upgrading to the latest version doing all the wipes, and if there is no data connection , see if mobile data is enabled?
Maybe check to ensure your IMEI hasn't been wiped.

The problem has been recurring with all versions of Aurora, and I've tried full wipes several times. I didn't say I had no data connection, the connection is just fine. As I mentioned, the problems are just present with one of my SIM cards.
The problems with SIM dropout might have something to do with the data connection, but I still get the problem when I'm at home connected to my WiFi. I'm gonna try to disable mobile data and see if the problem goes away.

IMEI is present. Again, problems are just present with one of my SIM cards.

Thanks!
Tried the command, still no icon for connectivity type though. Not sure about the SIM problem. Do you mind me asking what the command does?
As for the random SIM dropouts: I haven't actually had any since yesterday, not sure if it is just pure luck or it has something to do with the new 2.0.8 version that I installed yesterday (going from 2.0.7) after making this thread. I've had the problems in all the Aurora versions I've tested earlier. I'll report back if the problems reoccur.
If they don't I guess either the command or the new version fixed it.

Oh ok
Well I haven't had any SIM dropouts yet, but not sure if it's the fix or the new rom.
Anyway the problem has resolved itself in an unconventional way; I just got offered a better subscription with another provider
Thanks for the help!
Usually the budget carriers provide with SIM that are thinner than usual (not much visible)... at least, it happened to me before.
This may be the cause for the error, showing "no sim card inserted" as it will move inside your phone and cause that error.
The network error, can be related with the type of network you choose.
Maybe you choose CDMA only and you're out of 3G on that area sometimes...
You can check it on the settings and mobile networks.

[Q] Note 3 Emergency calls only/No Service

I have a Galaxy Note 3 with a problem. When i put my sim card in, it asks for SIM PIN and I type it. Then I get "Emergency Calls Only" or "No service. It wont connect to my SIM CARD NETWORK.
I have tried/Things I know
-Checking Network Operator and select network from there. Tried also "Select Automatically" still nothing happend. It pops out " Registred on network" but it is not.
- I have changed Network Mode from "LTE/WCDMA/GSM" to "WCDMA/GSM", then!! My network comes up in 5 seconds and go to normal again "Emergency Calls only"
- My IMEI is not blacklisted! It comes up on screen when typing *#06#.
- MY PHONE connects to the 4G perfectly! I get internet to surf from my SIM CARD! It means the phone is actually connected to the phone. BUT why dont it connect to the operator so I can call?
I really need help!

I think you will have to change the SIMCARD.
*COUNCIL: Try your current SIMCARD in other device for know if works ok or not.
My friend, its not SIM CARDS fault. I have two Galaxy Note 3`s and my SIM CARD works fine on all mobiles. The simcard has no damages or anything. It is a system failure I think. My phone connects to my network operator in like 5 seconds and go off when I change between Network Modes.

1. Root your device and flash Custom Recovery (like TWRP).
2. Make a nandroid backup to your SDCARD (data, system, EFS, boot, cache... ALL).
3. Wipe all (wipe system the last).
4. Reboot in download mode and reflash the stock ROM via ODIN: HERE.
5. Root your device again, flash TWRP and restore the backup (selecting ADVANCED BACKUP in TWRP) and select what you wanna restore.
6. Done.
I did that, still not working.
Did that, still same problem
dnt warry
i think xda is for modding and hacking. not for repairing.
every dev post about "I'm not responsible" then you have to fix it by samsung.
try and try one day you can fry. lol

I don't know where you got that idea, but it's absolutely not true. Just look around: There are countless threads about solving this or that problem. Going through the manufacturer for repair is usually a last resort option.
As morningstar said. Going to Samsung to repair your phone is the last option. I am searching for help to solve this problem and you are coming here with your "lol" trying to help with some useless and not true information.
"try and try one day you can fry" never heard off that.
Just to check, the IMEI doesn't happen to start with 0049, does it?
Sent From My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Using Tapatalk
No, my IMEI is correct and matches with my phone. Its the same as back off my phone when I pull out my battery. This is really strange, because I can see that people who are facing this problem have a blacklisted/corrupt IMEI, but mine is correct.
*Four years later...*
Got a fix? I have this problem now.

Hi, noticed this can happen if you are somewhere and you lose all your signal....won't reconnect to data when you get a signal again.
Turning phone off/on, data off/on, airplane off/on doesn't help..... only thing that worked was in network settings - change to 3G/2G only, then toggle back to 4G/3G/2G auto....seemed to kick it back to life.
Thanks finding out now that nobody can call me and can't call out if I do it goes to 3g then h then nothing and have to re insert sim if nobody calls I can use mobile data but still not the phone don't get it like when someone calls I lose the signal it goes off never had this issue and had plenty of phones could the sim connection be faulty?but then mobile data comes on and works it was all working fine for a week I'm baffled

Hi, not the same issue I was having...I could still make and receive calls and sms's.....just no data connection. Only thing I can suggest is trying a different sim card - if the fault appears with a new sim , then it's the phone at issue.
The following process helped for my problem which exhibited the same symptoms twice: 1. Switch off the phone; 2. Pull out the sim card and insert it back; 3. Switch the phone back on. Hope it helps

No mate in uk been fine for a week no issues never did anything different can't work out if it's phone or sim but put my wife's sim in mine and it does same with that try ringing doesn't get through and if someone rings me knocks my 4g and mobile data completely off never seen anything like it
Also should I have the reception bars there if no mobile data thought I just needed the reception bars to be able to call and text not 4g?am confused now
Read somewhere to wipe data and app or two by going into recovery but it doesn't do anything in recovery just blue screen saying downloading for ages but nothing happens so maybe need to root it
Is This Single Sim OR Dual Sim .... S7
It's for 1 sim and 1 sd card
I have a dual sim s7 edge. Unlocked. Decided to go with T-mobile. Data comes on for a minute and then disappears until I restart the phone again. Even though I select sim 1 as the one that should use the mobile data, when I drag the top of my screen where it says: "calls sim 1; messages sim 1..." it says data sim 2.... WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
EDIT: So I have tried various options time and time again for the dual sim mobile data issue. For me - it worked when I disabled sim 2, but when I re-enabled it, it started defaulting back to sim 2 for mobile data and it was effed. So finally, even though this is not ideal (but doesn't make 'real' difference), I replaced by sims - put my main sim (for calls, txt, data) in the slot for sim 2 and put my backup sim (for calls, txt) in tray for sim 1. It works without a problem so far (24h test so far).
EDIT 2: So after 48h, my mobile data started defaulting to sim 1 (which was now my backup sim, since before it was defaulting to sim2)... I have NO idea!!! Am I gonna have to change the sim placements every1-2 days??!?!?! Please let me know if you have any other fixes. Thanks
My phone worked fine for a few days and now 4g doesnt work any more only 3g and i cant find how to fix this
