[Q] [SGH-I337M] [Smsung Galaxy S4 Rogers] Problem of connectivity - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I have 2 Rogers's SGH I337M. The Modem have version I337MVLUAMG1.
I am in Cuba, the connection use operator ETECSA. This net uses technology
GSM of 900MHz.
I am having serious problems of connectivity. When starting, phones get
connected and they get registered to the net normally. Later they lose
the record in the net. Then he gets connected again. This happens to me
even with the indicator of signal full. Who calls me, largely receive that I am
off or out of the area of coverage. Besides when I can make a call they
do not listen to me correctly.
I have seen other S4's models that work correctly here.
I may be possible modifying the modem with someone version model?
Somebody can help me solving this subject.
Thanks...

[Q] Signal Issues

Hello.
I got a strange signal issue with my Universal. The phone will only connect to the cellphone network every now and then. GSM and UMTS alike.
I've tried a few different SIMs, most of them won't change anything. Had one that worked fine (not my sim, and costly plan).
What happened was the following: Phone was working for forever, when the provider updated the sim. The phone wanted to reboot, so I did, and the problem started. I contacted a the service provider, and they had no clue, so I contacted HTCs workshop here. They told me that they had indeed seen this before, and that they had solved it by "ordering 3G compatible SIMs", so I did. Nothing changed.
After this, I remembered that I had another sim (same provider), that was not updated yet. I put that sim into the phone, and once again the phone was connected, and working fine for 2 days, when the update came again. After restart, same issue.
I've tried updating the radio and so on, but nothing changed.
Now, I haven't managed to figure out any more, and now wonder if anybody here has experienced anything similar or know anything about it.
I kind of doubt that it's the hardware, as the non-udated sim worked, but the updated ones don't. That is also supported by that sim that actually worked. (I asked what was special about that sim, nothing).
Any tips?
I recently bought a used Jasjar, and I have similar trouble. I think it's because the GSM frequency band used by the Jasjar (I think it's 850MHz/1900MHz) is not as prevalent here in the US.. I assume there are fewer towers in my area that support this frequency band. The Jasjar was intended for non-US markets, I think. As I drive around town, there are certain spots where I lose my signal completely.... which never happened with my previous phone (an HTC Wizard, which uses a different, "more prevalent in America" GSM frequency band).
The new SIM's you are using, probably point your phone to a newer network (a different set of cell towers/radios), which doesn't support these frequencies as well.
That is correct, Universal will only work on 3G in Europe or Asia.
For America only in GSM bands
Europe
I forgot to actually mention that I'm in Europe.
Won't give up before I figure this out. Love the phone.

I'm no cell phone expert, but the SIM is just a memory chip with info on it. It has nothing to do with the signal quality or radio in your phone.
Inside the SIM's memory is a serial # and some info about which networks it can connect to.
So, I am guessing your new SIM's are pointing your phone to a different network, that does not use the same GSM frequencies the Jasjar uses. Or, perhaps your provider has swapped out the radios in your nearby cell towers for "newer" radios that don't support the Jasjar's frequencies. Does your phone work in other parts of town?

Yeah, I was thinking the same when this happened, but no one changed any equipment here. Both providers run with the same equipment, and is the same as when it worked. Got that confirmed
same problem to me!
YEah! I have the answer, Its about the channels of signal transmission, The Unis are old devices, need a high channel spectrum in the GSM signal, the new devices are more faster DSP´s in their CPUs and the spectrum of the GSM signal service scan load more devices with less channel in use (more cheaper and more services) The UNI is an old device now you may need to accept that need more channels to work in a full capacity of signal, sorry!! UNI´s and other old devices soon gonna useless

[Q] Please Help!!!Good signal connected to HSPAP but no Data

Hello, thank you in advance for whatever help you can give me. I purchased the AT&T galaxy s4 and I am trying to use it in Colombia with my provider Tigo which runs on 1900mhz but I have problems connecting to the internet.
This is my second galaxy s4, the first one I had I opened the AWS bands, selected WCDMA/GSM Mode Only on the service menu and my internet was working just fine. Unfortunately I lost my first phone and bought another one, and went through the same procedures but my mobile data is not working for the most part while it is connected to HSPAP.
If I select GSM only on the srvice menu then it navigates, but at 2G speeds. What seems strange is that I am getting great signal and when I go to about device/status, it shows it is connected to hspap, and gprs, but I dont have an internet connection except at a couple of places, for some reason when I am in my house it works (wifi off), but when I leave my house it doesnt work.
If you have had a similar problem an were able to figure it out I will appreciate any thoughts you may have. It is frustrating having this phone and not being able to use the internet.
Thank you.

[Q] RARE no WCDMA or 3G conection at all

Hi, My name is javier, I have bought one nexus 4 8Gb orange phone, but it is sim-unlocked so I can use my MVNO ( mobile virtual operator network) But I am unable to use 3G or WCDMA band in spain.
I Know here are some problems about MVNO and 4.3 and 4.4 and 4.4.2 Android versions, but my problem is not this one. On a Vodafone SIM Card, I am unable to get internet also on this unit. The rest of the phone works flawessly, but 3G does not. I am starting to think that GSM chip is broken. But Hey 2G Networks works well no signal lost, perfectly clear voice on dialing, and constant 20kb internet data speed. No matter is an MVNO or a real operator like Vodafone.
Searching the net, i came over this:
Nexus 4 Suffering from 3G and 4.· Upgrade
And for all of you that are not going to take a deep read, let me tell, that they say there is an error on 4.3 and newer Android framework and Radio Baseband version. So people get unconsistent 3G connection. Well mine is really consistent. No conection at all never. So I think this is not my problem, although I have tried a bunch of roms even all google ones, all basebands and a couple of sims from diferent company.
Anyway, a quick fix is quoted here: Quick 3G Fix But I do not understand what is this or what I am supposed to do with that. Can someone help me with this?
And, after that, I start to look at something more, like Sim Unlocking is snot well done and 3g Band is still locked. Havent tried it with Orange sim as I do not have any. Is there any secret menu where network locks are shown?
And moreover, How can I trace what is happening to my chip? If someone has made hybrid basebands to unlock 4G, there has to be a way to track what is happening to radio basebands while they are working...and perhaps, I can gather some good info to work with...
One more thing on *#*#4636#*#* menu, I can force WCDMA or GSM or the rest options, If I use Force WCDMA, I get signal lost for ever, If only GSM or WCDMA Preferred, it has signal but only gprs internet conection. This is with ONO (MVNO). But with Vodafone, I get HSPA Conection but no internet at all.
Really annoyed with this, hope someone is able to help me with this.
Thanks to all in advance.
Nobody? well i will try to find out myself.
Anyway I have started to know something about android tracking with logcat, and would like to know if there is any way to check all the traces of the modem to check if the chip is faulty or is a driver issue and i have to learn to modify it myself. Thanks.

[Q] Help! Diagnose network connection issues

Hi guys
My n9005 has been having mobile connectivity issues for a while now. I'm not very knowledgeable about mobile networking and standards so I need some help diagnosing the problem before I either find a setting to alleviate the troubles or get some hardware replaced. For your reference i think has been caused by dropping my phone quite a few times so there is likely a hardware issue, i just want to better understand it to see if theres a workaround before i go spending money!
My phone works flawlessly when it displays its connect to 4G or H+ networks. However when it drops to 3G it usually does not send or receive any texts, calls, and I have no data connection.
I have fiddled around in the service menus and tried setting the band preferences to GWL, WCDMA & GSM, LTE Only, etc etc, with not much luck either having no connection or having the same issue. For reference I don't have 4G coverage at my home only H+, but when I was on holiday in the middle of no where at the National Park (I live in New Zealand) I had 4G connections the entire time with no dropping.
Now I have no idea what mobile networks use what standards/protocols so if you could recommend a setting change or identify what I should get replaced that would be great!
Cheers

Signal loss

Hi everyone,
I already looked for an answer in the forum but nothing conclusive.
My moto g4 play loses signal during calls. The sim card is 3G and so I changed the network manually to 3g on the phone. However the problem continues and I think it even got worse. It happens especially when I'm moving, in the car, etc.
Is there any real solution for this problem? I have seen many users complaining but I did not realize if there was a solution or not.
Can you help me?
Thank you
Since the SIM is 3G, I'm going to assume the network you're using is GSM (ATT/Tmo). It is possible that the cell towers in your area operate on a specific type of GSM frequency, and your signal loss is due to the phone trying to connect to towers not supported by your carrier. If a call drops again, check the Roaming status of your phone in Settings and see what turns up.
Also, it seems odd that you would have to change the network settings at all. Even if the phone is set to prioritize LTE, it should automatically detect the 3G signal and adjust accordingly.
