Almost certainly bad hardware. My first i9000 had a problem with charging, so they just swapped it for another.
Take it in and try another.
i am not really into it and it could be absolutely nonsense xD sry if so
could it be that your charger is only for ~220-240V and you are trying to charge it in a country with ~110V

no way
if it is 220V or 110v
i have usb way to charge it>>no diffrents!
I have a plugin charger & a USB charger. When I plug my USB charger, it charges quite fast. But with the wall charger, there seems to be a problem. I discovered that my daughter had tried to push it in the wrong way & has bent the pins way too little. Now, when I have to use the wall charger, I need to shift the phone a few times for it to connect. Is it possible to bend the pins INSIDE your phone socket? Is that why it isn't connecting properly?
always the phone is showing charging so no way for desconnectiing the charger or the pin inside
Don't know if this is your problem but the charger that came with my phone was very slow, it would take about 6 hours to do a full charge. I bought one off the internet designed for a blackberry and it charges my phone in 2 hours now.
My nexus so far seems great but i have this issue and idk if its a defect or idk? When i go to charge my phone with the stock AC adapter and even a HTC adapter it starts charging on AC then sometimes switches to USB and charges slower. And I have to like plug it in and out a few times for it to finally catch as AC its super annoying and my GNex never had that issue. And when i want to use the phone on AC the Charge Drops significantly sometimes discharging and im not even doing anything intensive. Does anyone have this issue? Is it a problem with the USB cable maybe? Or do you think this is a defect? Because its about to be 14 days and i dont have much left to get an RMA cause its what im considering and if I need it i dont have 380 dollars in my bank account either if i do need it so idk how that would work. Any help would be appreciated Thanks!
It lowers the incoming current, by dropping to usb charge, to help keep the battery cooler. They seem to be really trying to keep the battery temp down on this thing.
Ordered my Nexus 4 on the 13th. Still waiting.
Really? Do you know the temps? Or does anyone? Cause sometimes it changes to USB after plugging it in for like 5 mins and i wouldnt think it gets that hot that quick. And when i finally get the AC to seem to stick the temps go up to 30-35 degrees celcius as normal and im getting around 850mah and it doesn't drop to usb charging it just drops current sometimes mainly when im using it obviously. So idk if it really is what you say or maybe someone could elaborate more?
I just want to get to the bottom of this issue so to know if i need to get an RMA :/
I forgot to mention that it also seems to randomly switch between AC/USB/UNPLUGGED really fast sometimes and i have to unplug and replug to get a charge I have no idea why.. I really want to know if its a software issue or hardware. Thats my main concern.
Woww this makes sense Ive been trying to figure out why this freaking thing was taking so long to charge. this reminds me of the galaxy s and how long that thing took. hopefully this is a software bug and they can get this thing worked out

Yea idk if its a hardware or software bug im hoping software but i may just do an RMA incase if i can ill call google tommorow. And if you want to check how your phone is charging you can download Battery Monitor Widget it shows the mah and all that.
I have that same problem with the charger that came in the box.once it goes to USB it take forever to charge but when I use the charger from my gnex it stays on ac and charges really fast not once does it goes to USB.so I tried the N4 charger on my HTC thunderbolt and gnex and both would go into USB mode and charge really slow.

For what it's worth, my Nexus 4 *NEVER* charges in an AC mode using the OEM charging plug, regardless of which power point / cable I use with it. And to charge from 'critical' to 100% took about 7 hours last night. Wtf.
It's been RMA'd as I don't believe this to be correct behaviour. Perhaps also related, the USB computer connection has stopped working. It'll charge via USB but won't connect to any computer.

Hmm so did you use the Gnex charger like the USB cable and AC adapter? Cause ive just used the ac adapters with the N4 Lg USB cable. It makes me think that the USB cable is **** to. I need to find another USB to test this out.

Yep, tried a whole bunch of different power sockets, usb charger plugs and cables. Still screwed. The more I read, the more its obvious that the devices behaviour isn't correct.
You should send it back because mine charges fine. It takes 2-3 hours to charge mine to full from empty. I'm using the charger and USB cable that came with the phone.
I'm actually facing the same thing, I slept for 3 hours and woke up to my phone being only 60% charged. I tried plugging it in and out a couple of times, and now its back to AC and not switching to USB anymore.
In using Franco kernel and even enabling USB fast charge doesn't keep it from showing USB.

Yea mine is missing it to I wonder if that is why? And i just got my RAVpower external battery and that usb has all the pins and i tried to charge my phone with the lg brick and the ravpower usb and it seems to charge fine goes to ac every time. So im really wondering if its the LG USB that i got and it being faulty or not. I need to get another USB to test this out. Cause i dont want to swap out an entire phone for just a usb..
I've noticed mine charges as USB when using the stock LG charger. I had put it down to the 3 metre USB cable it was attached to, but I guess it's just a pants charger.
I just started having the same problem since Sunday. Had the phone for 2wks now. I had the same problem with my gs2. I really don't like these adaptor charger now a days. I go for the straight wall charger. Seems to work best. I think it's better because it doesn't convert to a usb cord as well, I don't know but I went ahead and ordered this one. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=150959459340 should be here Friday. it says original OEM charger for E960 nexus 4. We'll see.. I suggest direct wall charger instead of those USB adaptor that come with phones now.
I just looked at my USB charger from lg, it has 4 gold pins. Seems like they're all there, how many are there suppose to be??

Correction And it should have like 2 gold outer pins and 3 gold inner pins and mine and I guess a few other people have the outer pins but only 2 inner pins im missing the left most inner pin.
Apologies if I don’t have the right forum lads,
I bought a Pipo Max M1 tablet about 3 months ago. I loved it , a very good tablet.
I bought a second one for my nephew as a Xmas present.
Before I gave it to him I charged it using my own charger a 5V, 2.5mA charger.
Then I took it to him in Greece.
Now when I went to Greece I never took my charger with me, I assume my nephews charger would do just fine.
When both tablets were discharged I used my newphews charger. This charger was a 12V, 1.5mA charger totally different from the one which came with my tablet.
When I used the 12V, 1.5mA the tablets showed both 100% charge in 2-3 minutes and then both discharged in less than 1 minute, clearly something wrong with that charger. Both tablets never charged again and where completely drained.
Now when I came back to the UK and used my charger (which was working from the start) , my tablet will not charge, it will not turn on and the tablet will get really hot when the jack plug is located when I hook it up to the power supply.
Is it possible the tablet is fried because of the wrong charger that came with the second tablet?
Could it be a matter of taking it to a technician and fixing it?
Any ideas guys?
Thanks in advance and looking forward to your reply
I have the same problem with you. They sent me the wrong charger (9V, 2.5A). The tablet was dead after 3 minutes. Now i'm waiting to receive the right charger.
Try to reset your tablet from the small hole in the back side. otherwise, you can try this http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/38865-dead-pipo/page__st__20__p__471674#entry471674

Panospc I have tried the reset button quite a few times but the batteries are completely drained!
Also I tried the method outlined in your link , although i had to cut the red cable and reconnect it but nothing happened.
My worry is that the tablet now overheats where the power supply plugs in.
Did your tablet overheat when plugged into the power supply without charging or turning on? Does it work now?
Thanks for your help by the way

I have only the 9V 2.5A charger right now, with this charger, both tablet and charger was cold all the time after 4 hours of charging. The tablet is not turning on. When I get the 5V, 2.5A charger I will inform you.
If you have a multimeter, try to measure the voltage of the battery, maybe the voltage is higher or lower than normal.

Yes I had the same issue when I was trying to get different adapters to work with the tablet.
I have ordered two seperate adapters from ebay both at 5V,2000 mA which the seller described specifically for the M1. I will post them to Greece and hopefully they will work.
Regarding my tablet as I am no expert, is it possible you think my tablet was fried? Can it come back to life?
A highest voltage adapter than 5V (the 12 V that I used) , do you think it burned the unit?
Thanks again ( PS: I think you are Greek?)

PS: I just got feedback from a technician and he said the unit is dead. I am starting to give up hope! shame!
maybe this suggestion will be work but i am not for sure.
i will take no reponsibilities of damages!
1. try to change battery.
2. unsoldered the battery from tablet and try to to relive with the correct charger ( maybe cut the cable of charger and connect the right pins to relive the battery)
3. connect tablet with the correct charger without battery to see if your table still lives.
good luck

are you saying straight connection of the two battery cables to the power supply? will this not damage the battery even further? my charger is a 5V and the battery on top it says 3.7 V?
3. connect tablet with the correct charger without battery to see if your table still lives.
tried it no luck!
I got a 5V, 2A charger from ebay and my tablet works fine now.
I guess that the tablet has a circuit before the battery that prevents charging if the voltage is higher than 5v. So I think that this circuit was fried from the 12V charger and the current doesn't reach the battery and other parts of the tablet. You have to find a way to connect the tablet to an external charged battery with the same voltage to see if the tablet is alive, I think most mobile phones have a 3.7V battery also.

panos good to know your unit is working fine!
there are three cables when I open the tablet
1 red
1 black
1 grey
what's this grey cable doing? According to your advise, should I connect the red and black cables to an external 3.7V battery?
I read in a couple of forums that I can jump start the battery...how is this possible? any instructions/procedure?

Yes, Make sure you connect it with the correct polarity, red wire is positive and black wire is negative.

Hi guys I've got the same problem. I got my PIPO m1, but it didn't switch on with or without charger. I disassembled device and charched battery straight. So, after 8 hours of charching it has just 3.25 volt. And if I connect charger to the unit, voltage on its motherboard is 0.5 volt (battery is desoldered at this moment). It can't be the problem of charger, cause I used several ones (5V, 2.5A).
And! The main point! Stock charger was from PIPO m2 so it has 9V Unfortunately, I noticed it after my first charching tryings.
For now I've got a brick. Have you got any ideas what i can do to reanimate it?? ( Thanks!

SpookyXDA I will follow panos advise today and try to connect the tablet straight to an external 3.7v battery.
Also I will try and find a 3.7v charger and connect the battery straight to that charger and see how it goes!
I have the feeling the circuit board , like panos said above, was fried at a point due to the 12V (in my case and I think the same for you since you used a 9V). If anyone is here has good imagination and creativity on how to overcome and bypass the fried portion on the circuit that would be great!
i can upload a couple of photos if that helps!
I will wait for your results!

Have not had this problem myself. Try another USB charger? Just about anything that's 500mA will work (albeit not nearly as fast as the 2.0 amp charger that came with your phone).
I suspect your charger.

Good to hear it was a simple solution. You might check with the place you purchased it from to see if they will provide a new cable. I guess we can just be glad you didn't find out about the cable during the middle of an Odin flash...

No kidding. That would hurt a little
I am now having this problem after my phone got wet. No AC or DC chargers will work but the phone will always charge from a computer or even the USB interface of a car.
Even if I can get an AC or DC charger to be recognized, the phone will show as charging but the battery will continue to decline.
It is making no sense to me though I assume getting the phone wet partially fried something.
Yeah the voltage is increased to charge you battery when on AC power, at the kernel level. USB voltage is lower. So i'd say surely fried, and will no doubt stop working sooner or later.
I know that on my s2 I had an issue where it would say its charging and when I woke up in the morning no charge at all. The pin/row of pins or bar if you will would bend down and not make good contact. I used a tooth pick to pry up on it every time it did that.

Thanks. I didn't realize that the charging port was removable on the S4 so I swapped that out and all is fine now. :good:
Ummm... No its not the voltage. It is the ID pin. The voltage stays the same. The only actual difference is the milliamp mAH output of the charger. A normal USB plug has 500mA our charger has 2000. How the phone tells the difference? The 2 data pins inside he charger are shorted together. The voltage always stays the same.

My device is mate8 which has a problem for charger is not working with fast charging and take a 3 hours to be full than before which was charging in 2 hours.
I know that it charges fast-charging by its original cable
I took twice it to the insurance company to solve this problem and they couldn't fix it and the cable was giving a fast-charging sign
And I checked that problem by this app from in PLAY STORE its called "AMPERE" it was showing 2600 amps for fast charging and now it gives from 1700 and lower than that sometimes
I need to find a solution for this problem
Do you happen to know how thick the cable is? Try a charge only cable that's 20 or 18 AWG and preferably less than 6ft in length.

Try charge it with phone powered off. If that doesn't work then maybe your battery is showing age. By the way, LiPo battery charges very slowly during the last few percent, so just keep that in mind.
