Motorola has confirmed that the moto g and e are getting updated to 4.4.4 as with a soak test for the 2013 droid line. Why does the moto x not get the update as well. Is there something with the software that the moto g and e as long with the 2013 droid line don't have or what? But this is good news for us as this means the moto x will get it soon

4.4.3 was set to roll out for our phones before the others but got scrapped due to the vulnerability. So the 4.4.4 update for the Moto X started after the other 2.
Use your brain.
Why is everyone so obsessed with this update? It's incremental and likely has no user facing changes other than the dialer. We have multiple threads on the topic already.

Indeed. Please stop this absurd paranoia. Motorola has just started the rollout, please have a little patience, it's not even a major update. Stop freaking out like little kids, it's the third effin thread about this.

Didn't 4.4.4 include a pretty big security fix to 4.4.3?
Yes it does include security fix also includes 4.4.3 fixes which include a new dialer and camera fixes as well as fix to google cloud print which allows it to be updated via google play store as well as 4.4.3 security and bug fixes
It is a major update as it includes what was going to be be in the 4.4.3 update so it is much bigger of a update then the Nexus's 4.4.4 update

If you are stuck on 4.4.3 I suppose but the vast majority of motorola phones are below and the security bug wasn't introduced before 4.4.3.

Yeah im curious to know too, supposedly with this update now you'lll have widgets in the lockscreen and maybe the battery problems will be solved :victory:

This most likely IS the final retail software.
do you really think that google will push out another OTA update in 2 days after this?
lol
If the software isn't perfect even on release day, Google will still issue updates accordingly. Its not like Google will sell you a phone, and then not fix any issues. So even if battery life is not perfect on day one, that could easily be fixed with an update. I am buying on day one no matter what, as I desperately need a new phone.

What's wrong with Google? I hope they get their sh*t together and release a final ota that fixes all the current bugs. I would think that they would update the software before the release to do any last minute debugging.

Seems like the devs over at google might be having a hard time getting a 3.4 kernel optimized for android devices... As far as I know, it's the first phone to use the 3.4.x kernel branch. Most other ICS or JB android devices use the 3.0.x branch.
Hey guys, first post here...anyway - think the jelly bean update is coming for the RAZR i tonight or tomorrow - checked my phone for an update and it said "You cannot check for updates at this time, please try again later"..gave it a quick google and sure enough some other thread came up when there was a guy who couldn't update because Motorola were updating the OTA files. Probably just checking it and testing it out to make sure all is ok before we brick our phones haha, so I'm hoping it's coming our way soon.
I'm in Germany by the way, and I also bought my phone there (if that makes any difference).

I'm not sure that's a completely fair description. Verizon did announce the update, after all. They evidently decided not to move forward with the update (for now) due to the bricked devices in the initial rollout, which some have suggested went out to more than just MFN folks who volunteered for soak tests.

Simple point, though. Big Red DID announce the soak, but left the hopeful throngs hanging while they silently pulled it. Also, maybe a little 'serves them right' as the faulty soak was shared and caused problems for the unintended. I've noted before on the loads of folks who have access to do things on/to their phones, but not the expertise, nor the self-control.

What do the new Play Services do?
I have doubt that moto e will get 5.0 update due to low hardware specification.
Moto E will get Android L. Motorola confirmed it when 4.4.3 update was rolled out, and moto E was launched after it was sold to Lenovo so that shouldn't affect then L update
The MOTO lineup (E,G,X) will recieve updates for 18 months. That is confirmed.

I couldn't find anything related to nexus 4 on the link you posted.
And, its not about specifications alone. Google has an 18 months policy for nexus devices(same for the Moto lineup). It means they are bound to update the device with every Android version launched within 18 months of the device release date. N4 is past that period so it may be skipped.
That doesn't mean anything for any other device.

See the title of my posted link. The L edition only for N5 and N7. Even its not for N7 2012 edition .N4 users are worry about it and waiting for official announcement.
The only thing I would be worried about is that L runs ART and that takes more space. With 4 GB hopefully that will fit on the moto e.

Great news ! I hope that someone with a Boost Mobile Moto G xt1031 will capture it and upload it to one of the the Moto G stock rom repositories on the xda-dev Moto G forum.

My Moto G not updated to 4.4.4
I received my Moto-G in Feb-2014, but its still not showing any signs for update, even after checking manually, its showing - no update available. My co-workers who buy their Moto-G in Aug/Sept month, is already updated to 4.4.4. Is there any short-cut for receive update... Pls help
