Hi Everyone,
Since we are getting more developers involved in making Custom ROMS, is there a need to back-up the efs folder (IMEI info) for safety and back-up purposes?
Does anyone know how to? for the Grand 2
Thanks!

Hi everybody, I am a newcomer here...
I want to upgrade my s5360 from gingerbread to jellybean..before that I want to make a backup for IMEI i.e efs folder. but the folder is empty. I tried efs professional 2.0.46 and and 2.0.62 both. but failed. each case showed the meassage as shown in attachment picture.
device running on gingerbread 2.3.6 based on DDMD1 and is rooted. busybox 1.20.2 installed .net framework 4.5 and usb cable driver installed on pc .
is efs professional is compatiable for galaxy y? any help? if it don't work, is there any other way to make IMEI backup? thanks in advance..
for efs backup you can use the galaxy toolbox from store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doky.sgtoolbox&hl=de
than a info,we have no jelly bean for galaxy y,next info you posted wrong.
I would thank the above person if I were you as a newcomer. Why dont you try giving a search on xda? Are you sure you did not get it there?
I drafted an answer for you but it defeats the whole purpose of xda knowledgebase and the way you can learn.
There are tons of articles about efs partition.
Edit: OP is taking about jellyblast I guess.

Hi, I'm completely new to this whole android ordeal regarding rooting and custom ROM and all. I have some idea, I've read a couple of threads explaining the terms and basics of rooting android.
Basically I just want to root my android device and in the future be able to restore it back just as it was before rooting.
How to properly Backup the whole Device (So I can restore the device to the current state in the future)
Root the device
How I can restore the device using the backup I made.
And maybe not void my warranty
^^ That's basically what I'm looking for, how I can do those things.
I'm Using s4 I9506, with vodafone australia. (It's not locked)
Running android 4.3
Any more information that I need to provide? Would be soo helpful is someone could help me out with this problem
cheers

Have a look HERE regarding root!
I only use my Samsung/Google accounts to back up my contacts etc so cannot really advise on this! But you can look at apps such as Titanium Backup and Online Nandroid...there are others. Just requires a little research and reading from yourself

Hi mate ,
Titanium Backup is a good option, also do a nandroid ( if you have a custom recovery) and backup your EFS folder !!!!! this last two option are for your security in case something goes wrong
Why would you want to back up your call log?
Anyway. Titanium Backup is your best bet.
Thank you guys i've installed the rom and i haven't lost anything of my data
