I'm so confused now with everyone talking about kk bootloader. I'm currently running CWM recovery and CM 6-28 nightly ROM but would like to update. Can someone tell me where to get the newest recovery for xt907. I've tried flashing newer cm nightly versions but just keep getting error code 7. Idk what I'm doing wrong.
Sent from my DROID RAZR M using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Most likely you need a newer recovery. Here is CWM 6.0.4.9.
I have twrp 2.7 and still I get error code 7. I haven't installed the new bootloader BC the instructions I've found are all kinda sucked and I can't afford to brick my phone right now.
rsd 6.1.6.... And 4.4.2 KitKat....just download the kk update and rsd... Run rsd choose the kk zip and flash it... Simplest way...if you don't want to edit the xml not to wipe data TiB for backing up your app data and store internal storage on your PC

Thank you. don't you have to re-root?
use towelroot to get root back... And you'll have to install your recovery again also...

Right, before i start, i tried posting in the development forum but i cant so here i am.
Basically, ive rooted my atrix with the super one-click method.
now im trying to install a recovery. Im trying romracer's cwm but the method described in various sources and here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
ive previously tried rom manager but i got stuck at failed to boot 2
i then tried tenfars but could only access the recovery if the phone was powered off then connected to mains power. so after a full wipe im back at stock trying romracers
system version:
45.31.2.mb860.t-mobile.en.gb
android version:

wt-1.2.0-133_38
kernel version:

build number:

basically, how do i get rom racers installed with the moto-fastboot.
it just doesnt seem to work for me
Have you unlocked your bootloader? I'm pretty sure you need to do that first, then you should be able to use rom manager to install that recovery.
I don't have links as I'm out at the moment but I know with fastboot I flashed a recovery with about 4 simple commands.
Don't try this because I'm not sure and I'm taking a wild guess but I think the commands were something like this:
moto-fastboot erase recovery
moto-fastboot flash recovery name-of-recovery-file.img
moto-fastboot reboot
I will confirm later but I'm sure your problem is that you need to unlock your bl.
Edit: also dev section would have been the wrong place but then again so is this, should have gone in q and a really.

ah right, well my understanding is that the bl was unlocked when the gingerbread update rolled out.
i shall give it a go though.

ok next question, to update twrp 2.3.1.1 -to- 2.3.2.1 ready for 4.2 if i should wish to install,, can i do it with a easy flashable zip? or must i do it with adb?
also lol twrp shows the time at the top as 6 hours behind?
Not sure about the time.. Unless you have your time in the tab set to manual. And twrp is using some type of auto source from wrong zip or something..
The easiest way tget latest version is twrp is to install goo manager..
Click the top right corner the ... click install open source recovery..
It will d/load the latest and install for you...
Good Luck
cheers for that now up to date.
so now if i choose to accept the 4.2 ota i shouldnt have any problems right? i just need top use the "keeproot" app from market?

You need to flash the factory images with fastboot, not a custom recovery. See this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34552123. Also, use twrp not cwm.

Android N Preview 4 beta npd56n (flashable & image, no encryption & dm verification)
** DISCLAIMER: APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK **** The following are instruction for installing Android N Preview 4 image released by Google on 6/16/2016. After the installation you will have TWRP recovery 3.0.2-0 with the data partition erased and unencrypted if you use method 2 **Always backup your data before flashing something a total stranger gives you!
Method 1: Flash update through TWRP recovery (keeps your data and current recovery)
1- You need to have TWRP 3.0.2-0 or higher installed on your phone.
2- Download this flashable zip..
3- Copy to the phone internal storage and flash via recovery.
4- Reboot. Your data should still be intact and your OS is upgraded to N Preview 4 beta. If your internal storage is unencrypted before flashing it remains unencrypted.
Method 2: Flash update using a computer (wipes everything, unencrypts data, and upgrades TWRP)
1- ALL of your data including the internal storage will be lost so make a backup. (If you know what you are doing and you are coming from unencrypted Marshmallow you can modify the instructions to not lose data but I won't help you with that).
2- Download this file. Note that it is NOT a flashable zip.
3- Unzip into a folder of your choice on your PC.
4- Open a command window (cmd) and cd to this directory. then run the following:
Code:
flash-all
5- Wait until prompted, then press key to reboot the phone.
6- Your data is wiped and your OS is upgraded to N 4 beta with unencrypted internal storage. Your TWRP is also upgraded to 3.0.2-0.
Technical details: this is a repacking of the Google image with a modified Kernel and removed userdata and recovery images. Everything else is stock.
Problem downloading from Mega on a mobile browser? Change the page setting to "Request desktop site".
About root and other issues
To obtain root after installing this update you should flash SuperSU 2.74 (or higher) in recovery. Get it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133.

Can't even Flash it, twrp(3.0.2-0) is stuck on "trying decryption"?
No problems with install.
1. System Restore
2. Flash ROM,kernel,adaway fix and SU2.74
Only problem I find now is TiBu won't restore APP's it will restore some settings and call logs though.
Found a few other things that are not working correctly. Not sure if it's ROM related. Root Explorer and Explorer lock up when opened.
I have wiped and tried everything twice all with same results.
3rd time is the charm. Did a full wipe and install now these apps are working.

hi.
did you just flashed the superSU zip file by using twrp with a unlocked bootloader?
i had 6.0.1 stock rooted nexus player rom (unlocked bootloader and twrp installed) by using the tips of xda.
Then the nexus player updated itself to 7.0 (i didnt update it manually), then i lose root and twrp. i only have unlocked bootloader ("secure boot= enabled" and "lock state = unlocked")

The usual cause of this issue is that the NP is rooted and has a Custom Recovery such as TWRP installed. The NP fails to update automatically whenever there's a new official OTA image available.
To stop this from happening you can use an apps like DisableService or My Android Tools and UNCHECK (disable) the following:
Disable Service or My Android Tools -> System -> Search -> Google Play Services and "Uncheck" SystemUpdateService.
If it still boots into recovery also disable it in the Services Framework
Disable Service -> System -> Search -> Google Services Framework ->. disable SystemUpdateService.

I too had to do this as well. I tried all the rootkits and different methods and versions of SuperSu and none worked.
BETA-SuperSU-v2.71-20160331103524.zip on the other hand worked flawless on Android 7 Nougat.
I too had lost root due the device updating itself to Android 7.
To accomplish this I did the following:
My device was already unlocked previously
Flashed TWRP via ADB
Booted into TWRP
Once booted into TWRP I could see the file contents of my NP on my Windows PC
I copied BETA-SuperSU-v2.71-20160331103524.zip to the root of the internal memory of my NP
Disconnected the USB cable from my computer to my Nexus Player and connected my OTG cable with the Wireless Mouse and Keyboard dongle
Once I had mouse connectivity, from TWRP I chose install Zip
I browsed over to where I had copied BETA-SuperSU-v2.71-20160331103524.zip and selected and flashed it
Once the flashing was completed I chose Reboot to System
I tested SuperSu for root = "Success!"
I installed SideLauncher
I installed BusyBox
To prevent the device from updating itself and the reboots:
I followed the instructions on post #24 from this thread by GabbyWC:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...ess-playing-videos-marshmallow-t3220531/page3
Here is a copy and paste of it
Sideload the "My Android Tools" app which is available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...oidtools&hl=en. After it's installed on your Nexus Player, open and configure it as shown here by using a mouse but you will need root access for this to work.
Service >> System >> Search >> Google Play Services >> Disable SystemUpdateService.
Service >> System >> Search >> Google Services Framework >> Disable SystemUpdateService.
The drawback is your applications will be prevented from updating unless you restart the services back up or side load the latest version of your app.
Hope this helps someone. I was already frustrated that nothing else was working.
One final note:
I was able to find everything I needed by doing a search
Guys on Nougat, if you use the newest Android tv Remote app on your phone. Can you adjust the volume of your nexus player by pressing the phone's volume up/down hardware buttons while the remote app is open?
If you have a different remote with volume can you adjust the volume up or down?
Reason I ask is because the shield can and now the new Xiaomi Mi box AndroidTV can as well. If the nexus player still can't I will remain on my current custom rom.
