A quick reminder..
This thread is started for sharing experiences and opinions on the Dalvik vs ART Runtime debate, and because the ART bonus feature only is working at Open Source ROMS (=CM, PAC, Omni, PA etc) at the moment, only users of the mentioned ROMS, or users that have used anyone of the mentioned ROMS with ART enabled, should post so no confusions is made.
Share your opinions on:
- Battery life differences
- Performance differences
- Benchmark differences
- Additional related and important information and guidance that is useful for the Z1 users specially..
Cheers!

Seems we are missing here a ROM FEATURE COMPARISON, would be a nice idea that we could classify the features vs roms and that way have a clear reference to choose a rom and its capabilities, features, bugs and limitations after install. Any suggestion about choosing which and what features?
ROM1 ROM2 ROM3 ...... ROMX
Specifications like:
1. Battery life
2. OS
3. Critical Bugs
4. Quadrant Score vs Kernel
5. General Aspect
I know im not a feature expert so these are just examples of what can be done.

Dude, you understand these roms get updated VERY frequently. Yesterday's bugs could be fixed tomorrow. Besides, who will be the OP and keep all rom specs up to date? I wouldn't trust average Joe to post new comparisons. Are you up to the task?

Hey Guys,
As we got now some quite impressive selection of both android 2.3 and android 2.2 and even some android 4.x based ROMs, I was actually thinking about opening this discussion-thread to see what arguments can be brought forth for the named android versions on our galaxy 3.
It should help others to decide which ROMs based on which android version is the right one for them and to clarify the differences between these android versions.
This thread should NOT in any kind of way devalue the works of any developer on any newer or older android version, because it’s actually them that keep our legacy devices alive! Instead I’m hoping to see some different perspectives and experiences that you have made with the ROMs based on different android versions on our galaxy 3!
To start this discussion I summed up the features that are highlighted by Google for Gingerbread on http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-2.3-highlights.html to question those benefits according to our present status of android 2.3-based ROMs:
- improved user interface for simplicity and speed through changed menus
- Better and faster keyboard experience
- Improved power management through visualization of battery consumption and better managing of apps
- Internet calling and NFC-capability (NFC not for our phone)
- Enhancements for gaming through performance optimization (concurrent garbage collector, faster event distribution, updated video drivers)
- Native development optimizations (audio, graphic, sensors)
- Dalvik runtime optimizations
As I selected only some of the newer features to sum up I tried it without regarding my personal opinion, but as selections and accumulations always mirror my personal perspective regarding what is important and what not, feel free to add any features that you find important and do question the things that I’ve mentioned.
Looking at the newer features I ask myself, will we actually benefit from those compared to a Froyo-ROM (maybe also thinking about missing implementation of OpenGL ES 2.0 in android 2.3 – correct me if I’m wrong)?
Are those newer improved user interfaces an argument? Thinking about the modding and themes which our themers provided to make our SG3 a beautiful device!
What of these features improved your personal user and/or developer experience over android 2.2 on our phone?
Did you notice those differences?
So hoping for some different perspectives: let the discussion begin!
(As I said, feel free to criticize and question anything that I’ve mentioned)
I know this might be asking for a little too much (specifically from the Moderators and Gurus of modifications and tweaking), but can someone help us with a quick Comparison chart (like a simple Excel file or image) mapping features of the different top 5-6 ROMs (CM, AOKP, LiquidSmooth, SlimBean, Xylon, etc.)?
It'll be of great help to ALL the users, I'm sure..
Thanks in advance..)
ART runtime is the follower of the standart Dalvic runtime and should be gain more performance.
Let's discuss the ART runtime, about your experiences and possible failures according to roms etc.
This thread is really not necessary especially in a device specific Forum.
So this should be moved to Android General Discussion if its necessary anyway or closed.
There are already a few ART discussion threads.
tw vs cm / art vs dalvik
I think he wants to compare the s4 mini stock rom performance and battery life to the cm art performance and battery life.
Im running cm11 with art and the performance is awsome.
About batterylife im not shure, it seems to be the same or better on cm but i cant compare caus the cellbroadcast (when you have no connenction) is draining my battery life. Dont know if touchwiz manages it better.
Running smartmax with fiops and intelli plug with art gives your phone awsome performance with nearly the same or less batterylife. Still waiting for stable touchwiz with art
I hope i could give you a short overview espacielly for s4 mini
Sry for my englisch, im german
I am curious to hear of people's personal opinions of ART over dalvik on the galaxy note 4.
I have recently just switched to it myself and have noticed an improved response time on my N910G. I am running stock Android 4.4.4 XSA firmware with TouchWiz.
Please post your experiences with ART over dalvik, and which you prefer better.
Thank you

There are loads of info on art on the Note 4 if you search.
My question is focused on people's personal opinions and experiences with using this runtime environment on the device. Fellow XDA users point of view on how well it functions, what they think does and doesn't work, etc. I'm not seeking information on ART as the internet itself has an ample supply of resources available. My question is seeking G a personal approach to individuals experience and review.

hi,
i am currently on lollipop .... BOC3
If i reflect back to when i was on Android v4.4.4 and also wanted to experiment with Art /Dalvik
I would say its nothing special.
every time i rebooted my Note 4, had to optimise apps. i have+ - 168 apps and Art gave me notification that it was optimising 456 something apps..?.. . taking near 25 minutes on reboot...? Also when optimising apps my device got quite hot./warm I used ART for a few days and went back to Dalvik... much smoother (i know ART on v 4.4.4 was still experimental and not tweaked 100%)
Now that i am on lollipop v5.0.1 (ART)
its smooth and battery is good etc etc When rebooting i have no such optimising of apps.. only on a install. To me.. (on the surface) using ART or Dalvik is nothing special I wouldn't even know it, just by using a phone device if it was optimised for ART/Dalvik . I believe under the "hood" it's a different situation with all the optimization , tweaks etc.
good luck

I know what you were asking, that is why I told you that there are threads about people on 4.4.4 running art on the Note 4
hello...i have just change to ART from dalvik in 4.4.4 wanam rom..
i feel it is indeed a little faster.. especially when i tap on the recent app.. it feels very responsive now..no lag..
also when i launch app..it does the processing faster.. just my opinion
