Phone won't read the card. I rooted and attempted to reconnect and I couldnt get the option to rename to img file. Now my phone is rooted but my card is somehow unusable. Not sure what to do next.
The same exact thing happened to me, i luckily had a backup however i had to reformat it when I rooted!
reformat the card that was ruined? I can't get a computer to read the card much less my EVO. I can get another card just pissed it ruined my $30 16gbvcard.

I dont think rooting your phone messed it up. Maybe when the phone was reading the card, it corrupted it. Mine as done that a couple times when rebooting my phone.
Is there an option in recovery to partition your card? If so try that, and put the swap values and the ext partition values to 0. Then the rest to fat32. It WONT partition your sdcard, it will just format it.

I flashed a fro-yo build and mine was not able to be read, but after a reformat from the phone it worked, kinda of sucks but yeah hopefully your card is not ruined
I learned my lesson. Have 1 card to play with and have a main card that I use when I'm done. I can always transfer what I need to it. Just glad i acked everything up on my computer first!

Go to the developer forum, this has happened to a bunch of us after rooting. Sd card becomes unreadable. There is a fix described there. Its fairly simple.
Girlfriend's sister forgot her screen lock pin and has no idea what her gmail account is to override it. She has given up on trying to get back in and is going to factory reset, she just wants to save the pictures. Which happen to be all on the phone and not the sd card. Is there any way to mount the phone so I can transfer the pictures off before she resets it? Oh, and the phone is 100% stock mytouch 4g.
Thanks in advance
Pictures stay on the memory card even if you do a factory reset.
If you still want to save them, take the memory card out, and use an micro SD adapter to mount it on your computer and copy the pictures from your sd
They are saved on the phone's memory, not the memory card
Phones memory? I don't think you can do that on the mytouch. It automatically saves to memory card.

That's what I thought, but she said they weren't on the sd card when she tried to get them off
Yeah I am almost completely certain that pics are not stored in the phone memory. You are not even able to take pictures without the SD Card in the phone. I bet she just isn't sure which folder to look in on the SD. It can be a ***** to find them.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
These are pictures taken with the phone's camera? They are definitely saved to the SD card. Look in the DCIM folder.
Factory reset will NOT wipe the SD card. You can factory reset without backing up your SD card first, but backups are always good to have. Good luck and let us know if you get it fixed!
First of all you can allocate photos to be saved on any partition mostly its done on /sdcard/ but next is /data which you can do. Also why not just take the SDCard out of the phone and mount it on another device or PC via card reader and verify its not there?
Now seeing how your new user here I am not sure if the phone is stolen and your just trying to extract the some "data" from the device. But yes you can access the data from device by dumping the raw image. Then mounting it and extracting it on to the PC. Like I said you can even replace system files which will rewrite the system password for some apps, along with basic patten signature.
I always see "new" users making these type of post and once you help them they never do come back as they most likely have stolen device and will sell it on ebay, ect. As my own phone been stolen in the past I never got it back so you have to understand where I am coming from.

Haha, never expected to have it said I might be a thief but I can understand. I'm definitely not trying to steal the phone, but I suppose a thief would say that anyway. I have a Mytouch 4g as well, I put her sd card into mine phone and it says "there are no items in your collection" when I go to the gallery. I also used my phone to mount it to my computer and looked through every folder, still no pictures.
1. do you know that if you're trying to install a
custom ROM on ur arc, it may damage your SIM if
the installation not successful ? as it has
damaged mine twice. always remove ur SIM before
experimenting
2. Do you know that you can swap ur SIM CARD
without system reboot or battery pull? simply
activate your AIRPLANE MODE then remove the
back cover and remove the SIM CARD, insert
another SIM CARD then deactivate airplane mode
.
3. do you know if you're on MTP mode you cannot
access your sdcard on PC if you have your screen
locked?
tell me which one you've tried and which one you're

no so hard to remove, just use you nail to lift the SIM a bit then adjust it backward. I've don it today, I have three different SIM with separate data subscription, so, I do swap almost everyday.

It simply represent Media Transfer Mode, you can find it in settings-Xperia-connectivity-USB connection mode. You can actually choose the Mass storage Mode if you wanna copy directly to your memory card.
Hit the THANK botton, if this info is of help to you.

Did you know you can simply take a screen shots on your ARC with stock ICS ROM by pressing and hold the power button+volume down? Try it today!

I don't understand this 'useful tips' because :
1. Either ur making this up, or you just have a bad luck, coz i don't see any correlation of whatsoever between installing rom and damaging a Sim Card.
2. How can you ever managed to remove your simcard from your Arc device?
Wierd.. there's a battery which block the path away when i tried it.
3. I still can access my arc sd card on pc, with the screen is lock and in MTP mode. :silly:

I've only experienced that in mtp mode, not all folders I created on the SD Memory can be seen, for example where I put the apk file. Or if I want to change the mode from MTP to MSC obligatoriamente I restart the phone or the computer does not recognize it, but I speak only for windows7 x64. What I wrote is true for every rom I tested, at least on my arc s.

I'd guess it's probably your non advisable method of removing your card that has damaged it and nothing to do with the ROMS. And if you're going to make a thread titled Here is a useful tips for your arc then at least put a bit of effort into it, because to then ask for thanks for 3 tips, two of which are ill-advised and the third contradicted by another member is -insert own thoughts here-.

If I can recall, there is only *#*#7378423#*#* for service menu. Things like speaker volume can be edited with ALSA mixer, which is available on Google Play. You will need root to use it.

Re installing may not be complete soloution as even in that case ur data will still land up at internal memory only
However u can try Reset once and re install all freshly u muyte get some space back
Rooting will be a solution it also has a little risk I suggest read more abt it google is your friend
Plus rooting will void warranty
If u are ok with that then mention the model number u are using will guide you to the proper link for rooting

Ok thanks.. maybe I should just root. I know how to do this already. Model is i9505.
Quick question does this stop OTA updates from working?
Maybe I should flash the latest firmware (MH8) via Odin, root plus reinstall everything

u can flash Pre Rooted firmware which will allow you to get OTA

Scratch that then. I think I will just return the phone.
I just do not get why I have so much space taken on the internal storage. I have checked every app which I moved to the SD card and it shows sd card app and it sd card data for example Asphalt and Real Racing
Only the stock apps/bloat are using internal storage space.

Reset to factory Setting Which makes your device just how it was out of the box I mean not reboot
After that u should have abt 9 Gb Space
I have a very specific problem that I have been trying to solve.
I have a Galaxy Note 4.
For the past few days, my phone has not been able to read the SD card and is stuck on "Preparing SD Card"
Here are the facts I have come up with:
- My phone will not read any SD card and will continuously stay at "Preparing SD card" no matter how long any card is in the phone
- The current SD card can be read in others phones and my computer.
This leads me to believe the SD card is not corrupted and that the files may still be able to be accessed. The other info I have found from forums tells me the best way to get the phone to read an SD card again is to reset it, but I don't want to do that.
Try to use app name [ SD insight ] from the market, it can read the manufacturing of SD and all the information! But still cant browsing the file.
I would be so appreciative of any suggestions.
Thank you for any help you can provide!
I'd take your device to a Samsung Service Center as there is a chance that your device's microSDCard reader is faulty and needs to be repaired.

Actually rooting your device should cause such a problem. Unless you delete the drivers for the microSDCard reader on your device. I'd recommend reinstalling the stock firmware onto your device to see if that will fix your problem. But don't root it this time around.

If you are getting those errors then there is a possibility that the rooting process messed up the OS and the device drivers on your device. Reinstalling the stock firmware back onto it should solve your problems.
