I have a Martian Notifier and it has a button that opens up google voice search when pressed. Is that a way in which I can remap it to do certain actions such as skip a track on Spotify?
There is a way & i am working on it . Lets wait and see if it is going to work or not. @1188low

Many topics have been around (and probably will be made) about the headset and how it can be better used. I've found several things;
To control your mortplayer with the headset button, you can use this application.
Then there's some applications like Cyberon v2.0 (only works for the stock headset, not bluetooth) and Microsoft Voice Commander, which you can activate through the headset, giving you even more control.
What I want is a hybrid application that has the best of all worlds. I'm willing to help develop it. What I'd need is one programmer (doesn't have to be very skilled) who can help me create the basics.
I'm thinking of creating an app that uses Microsoft VC to control the phone's functions, but with more than one function on the single button. For instance:
Single press - activate voice listening
Double press - Start music player
Press and hold 1 second - start/stop music
Press and hold 1 second and then press short - Next track
And perhaps more. The key here is that these functions would be configurable. through for instance a config app, or just the registry, people can choose what the different buttons do (launch an app, use one of above functions etc.)
Is anyone else interested in this / interested and capable of helping me make it so?
Hey guys,
I like using GSPlayer2 on my HD2. However, the program does not detect the button presses from the remote. I have the Sense MP3 player disabled, so now when I press the call/play button on the remote, it either goes to the call menu, or goes to windows media player.
Simple question -- how do I change its behavior, so that it can control GSPlayer? I'd imagine the solution will be similar (but not identical) to the the one implemented by AVRCP program floating on XDADev somewhere....
I wonder is there anyway to map the L/R button in the default music player as last song/next song.
If not, is there anyany to change the music player launch button in "CLOCK" to another software eg:winamp or poweramp?
Thanks in advance
Personally I wouldn't map those buttons.
If you've got it in your pocket your going to be getting a few track skips.
i want to use it while driving, cos It is hard to skip songs while on the dock.
TBH i was thinking the same thing. Would be lovely if it turned out doable.
I wish. A universal key mapper would do wonders

That would be awesome. It would also fix the Making R the camera trigger problem.
solution found:
Found it in the market , need to be rooted thou
- button remapper ($AUD1.00)
remap the HARDWARE L or R buttons to Next media or Dpad center
to skip songs and to use as shutter button
the only problem is that if you map it as Dpad center, some games control doesnt work properly if the game does not allow you to config the buttons. Map as media next seems fine.
I can now skip song while using the dock

I'm rooted but the option to download is greyed out and says it's not compatible with my device. I'm on an R800a. Anybody else seeing this?
Hello,
I have searched on the forum but there is talk of changes only on deodexed Rom.
I would like to have the ability to change song with volume keys on stock (rooted) rom. I did it with cyanogen on my s3 but on the nexus is not possible.
My second question is always about changing songs.
I bought a Philips shb9100 bluetooth headset. On many phones you can go forward or backward by pressing the volume knob once, returning to its normal position and then immediately hold down the wheel again. This does not work on the nexus 5.
Does anyone know an app that can be useful?
Thanks to all,
xSl

try Frinky Music Controller (No root required)
I always wanted to have an app which controls music with volume keys but i could not find any which does it smoothly. So I developed my own . My app Frinky Music Controller on GOOGLE PLAY controls music with volume keys and smartly controls music volume. It supports more 200 music players and Spotify. It works on both rooted and non-rooted phones.
Some features of the app are :
Next Song -- press volume UP key single time to play next song.
Previous Song -- use volume DOWN key to play previous song.
Control Volume -- when we want to control music volume , most of the time we press volume key more than once (next time when you adjust volume , feel it) . So the app uses this tendency of users as a function to control music volume i.e press volume key more than once to adjust volume.
Stop song -- Oh! you play music in your class in absence of professor here comes the professor .... turn off the music quickly by UP+UP+DOWN+DOWN key action (it takes less time than muting the volume and unlocking the screen .
Sleep Timer : Single sleep timer for all your music apps.
Manually control app's service : well to understand this feature you will have to download the app.
It consumes very less amount of ram.
I've pretty much settled on Power Amp 3 for my mp3's, but one thing that still bugs me is that I can't see track info when I'm in Waze. I'm always switching back and forth.
Is there any media player that can display and overlay on top of the active navigation app? Sort of how Google Maps will put a small version of the map on top of your active app.
I guess I could have Power Amp as the main app, with Google Maps overlaying in the corner, but I'm looking to have it the other way around... and I like Waze better.
Finally found an app in the Play store that accomplishes what I was looking for. "Music Control" creates a floating music control overlay that will display over Waze, or whatever else you're running. It grabs album cover, artist, and song title from your active media player and works great with Power Amp. Also gives play and seek buttons, though I just use steering wheel controls.
... in case anyone else was interested.
