I wonder is there anyway to map the L/R button in the default music player as last song/next song.
If not, is there anyany to change the music player launch button in "CLOCK" to another software eg:winamp or poweramp?
Thanks in advance
Personally I wouldn't map those buttons.
If you've got it in your pocket your going to be getting a few track skips.
i want to use it while driving, cos It is hard to skip songs while on the dock.
TBH i was thinking the same thing. Would be lovely if it turned out doable.
I wish. A universal key mapper would do wonders

That would be awesome. It would also fix the Making R the camera trigger problem.
solution found:
Found it in the market , need to be rooted thou
- button remapper ($AUD1.00)
remap the HARDWARE L or R buttons to Next media or Dpad center
to skip songs and to use as shutter button
the only problem is that if you map it as Dpad center, some games control doesnt work properly if the game does not allow you to config the buttons. Map as media next seems fine.
I can now skip song while using the dock

I dit. I cooked my own ROM but in previous ROM this feature was working somehow (pressing power button did not stop music playing) but in my ROM it does.
you can also just click the windows key, click on the "today" icon, go to the today screen and then just lock the window. let the screen turn off by itself.
thats what i do. i've never been able to hit the power key.
i use pocket player. you can assign a button to turn the screen off. unfortunately the program isnt free.. unless you know where to look.
get TCPMP,the core media player and assign a hot key to turn off the screen.its in the options.
If you use pbar (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284952&highlight=pbar), you can use the blue icon at the bottom of app to turn the screen off and save the battery sucked up by display.
I use this when listening to WMP or TCPMP and works fine.
For some reason, the link did not paste correctly for pbar. Here goes.

Until you figure it out. You can always set a hotkey from Media Player (menu/options/buttons). Then assign a key to Toggle Screen (I use Hold Up). Click on 'Toggle Screen', press Assign button, press key you want to assign to that function. If you hold the up button from the direction pad for a second it should take.
This is what I do (I'm using NBD v9.2 BTW): Play a song, wait until it finished the first song, click power button. Works everytime. If you press it too early you're gonna cut your music off along with your screen. The key word is wait.
Display Switch
Or you could use the program called display switch. it turns off the screen only and you can assign this to a button on your wizard. that's what I do
Hey guy, I've an idea.
After using SE walkman phone for years, I have some experience using it so easy to play music because of the volume key.
Now I want to map the vol key in my Xperia X1 to us it like walkman phone but I don't know how to do it.
It's like this:
-The key still active even the phone is in keylock or standby mode.
-Press up/down once to tune the system volume.
-Press and hold up/down equal to next/previous of the navigation key.
Mapping the the vol key like this make more easy to change tracks and volume while X1 is in the pocket.
This is just some idea.
very nice idea
Would not be a big job with AEBPlus in combination with MortScript. Of course depending on what Player you are using...
I only fear that it won't be possible to send the dvice to standby and still have this funktionality...
this is what i expected of the x1 before buying it, because even non-walkman phones SE have this feature, it would be great to know if this function is possible on th x1??
I think it might be possible because I've found out that Pocket Music 5.0 can mapped some key in the background use.

Thanks for this idea, i have now got a similar app called pocketplayer 4 it allows HW button mapping (However NOT the vol up/down, x panel, pick up/put down call, and camera buttons.....ONLY the d-pad and softkeys can be mapped), also the the app allows a button for sleep mode and and timed sleep mode option... so the music can be controlled with the screen off in you pocket

Is it possible to map the button on the headset which comes with the phone to control play/stop??
Yes, it is! click the link below and read carefully
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471317
This would be nice, I loved the way my old Walkman phone works. Simply skip a song or turn the music up.
If someone can map the X1buttons to do this I'm very happy. The X1 now as a mp3-player sucks.
I want to turn off the screen while listening to the media player on the speaker. Normally this can be fixed by configuring a hardware button.
Open up Windows Media Player on your Pocket PC
Tap Menu > Options > tap the right arrow to toggle over to the Buttons tab
Tap the Buttons tab and scroll down the page to the end until you see the "Toggle Screen" option. Tap it to highlight it, then tap the Assign button and then press the button you 'll press to toggle the screen on or off.
Tap OK at the top of the screen and you're done.

However, I can not find a button which works. Has anyone an idea to fix this?
yep me too
yep, i have this problem too. like to go to sleep listening to the player but then the light stays on the whole time!
any update
A work around
I have had the same problem. My solution is to use AE button plus.
I've assigned Volume up key as follows. 1 click - up arrow, 2 click - page up and long click - volume up.
(Similar for down volume)
Next in media player I assigned up volume key to toggle screen.
Now when I 1x click volume up the screen toggles, but if I long click I get volume bar which then allows volume keys to work as normal ie Single clicks up/down volume.
alternatively if you're just listening to music you could install nitrogen player. which is far better than the standard media player (imo)
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-nitrogen-player.html
just press the 'power' icon and the screen will switch off and the audio continue to play.

Pocket music is also good
Nitrogen! It's superb. And, the volume buttons still work with the screen off (although the latest build links its own volume to the system volume which causes problems - I use v1.0 which leaves system volume separate).
You can use PowerOptions to turn off the screen while listening to music, see here :

Trick
Hi,
This is a trick that works with the Touch.
1. play some music with the Headphones jacked in
2. with the headphones still in, turn off the screen
3. pull out your headphones and the mediaplayer will use the built in speaker, even though the screen is OFF.
try it and report the results
no warranty, since it works with my Touch, but I don´t know, it may work with the Diamond II.
Didn´t work
Uhmmmm!!
I got my Diamond 2 last weekend and I tried this without success.
Sorry guys
Hey guys,
I like using GSPlayer2 on my HD2. However, the program does not detect the button presses from the remote. I have the Sense MP3 player disabled, so now when I press the call/play button on the remote, it either goes to the call menu, or goes to windows media player.
Simple question -- how do I change its behavior, so that it can control GSPlayer? I'd imagine the solution will be similar (but not identical) to the the one implemented by AVRCP program floating on XDADev somewhere....
One app that I'm missing on the 6T that I was using on the Note 9 was BxActions where I was not only able to remap the stupid Bixby button, but also the volume buttons. I want to be able to skip tracks, play/pause tracks using the volume buttons on the 6T. Does anyone have any tips?
P.S. I'm using MidnightCore module right now to change my boot animation but it only changes the intro boot, not the animation when the phone shuts down/restarts. It's still the T-Mobile logo. Any way to change that as well?

Try Button Mapper Pro
or do it in your music player
GoneMAD, Player Pro, and Rocket music players all support some kind of button overrides, probably other players too.

Thanks for the tip but I'm not trying to use another player besides PowerAmp (beta).

This is looking promising. I bought the pro version but I'm running into issues with the skip tracks options while the display is off. Which is a key feature that I need. I'm rooted and granted all the permissions that I need to give. Currently waiting for the dev to email me back to see what help I can get. Thanks for the tip.
And it's working perfectly! Thanks again, @kantjer! This app was the answer to my dreams!
