Hi,
I've ordered a samsung a-847 rugby 2 unlocked, at&t branded, with at&t functions(a-gps, PTT, and so on).
I want it because i've had it with my nexus s (and any smartphone, i'd rather have a smart device and a good phone )
The rugby model (like motorola tundra, casio g'zone and so), is only sold with contract in US and parts of Asia, not in Europe (where i am using it).
Checking the specs, i discovered that 3G is compatible with vodafone network, but i wonder, is there any way to flash or setup the device from AT&T to Vodafone, so i could use my Vodafone contract on it's entire functionality?
Thanks
ok..so now i have my phone unlocked, at&t branded with at&t software.
i cannot use the email client because all settings are from at&t, anyone can help me please with advices or links about removing firmware and installing the samsung a-847 firmware so i can operate it on vodafone (or any 3g network)?
[Q] Tmobile or Rogers or Stock Android s4 that will work on LTE in the US & Canada
I'm in the market for a massive cell phone upgrade. I'm currently on a BB 9000 that still works as well as the day it was made.
I spend considerable time in Canada (Rogers Network) however I am from NY (T-Mobile). I am looking to get a an s4 that will run on LTE in both countries. I will just swap sim cards when needed.
I will be buying the phone outright. Should I get the Google Edition GT-I9505G which after taxes is just over $700 or should I get the discounted locked T-mobile S4 (SGH-M919) for just over $600.
Rogers also sells the (SGH-I337M) variant with an unlocked boot loader for 700.
Ultimately,I don't mind unlocking and rooting the device I get .
What would you guys recommend ? What would you do ?
Thanks in advance,
John
Hey John,
Considering you don't mind unlocking or rooting, I suggest you get the Google Edition. It costs less, it'll save you the trouble of getting it unlocked, and you won't have to deal with the cellphone companies. As a canadian, I've heard enough horror stories with Rogers, to advise you to avoid any hassle with them. Then again, it's very YMMV, some have great customer service with Rogers and will never leave them.
As for me, considering where I'm from, I don't have the option to purchase it through the Google Store, unless I have an amerifriend or through family in the US. So I don't have the choice you have. Even if I did, I would still get it through a carrier, simply because I really love what Samsung did with the S4 and am not really into rooting (although considering it more and more lately). I don't really use the "gimmicky" features (air gesture, smart scroll, etc.) but what they've done with the camera is great and I see myself using the different modes more than I thought.
Hey all,
I got a new Samsung G-S4, in which i purchased the LTE International model from Hong Kong last month during my trip to asia. As I am a novice casual user of Android phones, and don't wish to tingle too much with too much advanced modifications, please give me a few start up tips for using this phone in my local Carrier (Rogers) in the Vancouver, BC area.
For once, the main concern is I am not getting LTE data speeds. Please help.
Maybe they can help you here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45245613
Hi guys,
I have a seemingly simple question... I am in South Africa, a friend in the states sent me a US Cellular Galaxy S4 (SCH-R970)
I have read all over the place to see if this phone can be SIM unlocked to work outside of the USA but I'm not getting any definitive answers.
Some say all S4's have GSM capabilities so there has to be a way to unlock it, others say it is only CDMA making it impossible to work on GSM...
So can someone please give me a straight answer?
Is it possible to SIM unlock a US Cellular Galaxy S4 (SCH-R970) to work OUTSIDE the USA ???
Thanks so much, appricate the time and help!
Hello. Hopefully I started this thread in the right place...
Recently, I moved to China. In the U.S., I was using a Samsung Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535) with Verizon as my carrier. I've rooted the phone, but I've not messed with other things like firmware or custom roms. In China, I have this truly god awful phone with China Telecom as my carrier. The China Telecom SIM card does fit in my old Verizon phone.
So, is it at all possible to redo my U.S. phone in such a way that allows me to use the China Telecom network? I've messed with my phone with the new SIM card, and I've asked Google, but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
