[Q] What kernels are compatible with PAC Rom? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just flashed PAC Rom, and I'm loving it, but I'm not sure what kernels are compatible with it.. I've flashed HellsDoctor, and that ended up making everything weird. Thank you!

You need the CM version of the kernel, your rom is CAF based. you need flash hellsdoctor CM version

OH okay, so kernels that have CM versions are meant for CAF roms, and then kernels that don't say CM are meant for GPL or AOSP roms, right?

The phone is now getting really buggy, would it be because I'm using a nightly of PAC? I was configuring all my settings and personalizing the phone, when suddenly, the volume for media wouldn't turn on, the recent apps and back softkey will respond to touch but won't do an action, and the keyboard won't come up in any field that requires a keyboard. What happened?

What keyboard are you using? Boot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache. If it doesn't work, do you have a backup you can restore to that worked fine? What kernel? A full wipe should fix it. But remember, always backup.
Happy to help you further!

I'm using the stock Android keyboard. I was utterly stupid and forgot to make a Nandroid. I've tried wiping the caches but nothing changed. I'm using Matr1x 13.5 GPUOC.

Oh, wipe everything should work. But take a backup

How should i flash this?Tried via CWM but failed its stuck on "replacing stock recovery with cwm recovery"
Thx for sharing!
Tested on latest CM9 build and it works but disappears after 1 reboot
Nice add on
Yes, it's a fakeflash, one of the devs need to integrate it in a kernel, I want to do, but I need a tester

Agree 100%. Apart from saving a few seconds for bu/recovery, I can't see any advantages at all.

I agree too. Its a really cool concept but knowing me I'll fat-finger it and screw something up. Recovery is NOT a place I want to make mistakes. I'll still try it out cause it is a really cool idea.

The Unofficial CyanogenMod Series - added aokp-jellybean test build

Hi all I will be working this a little. But don't expect anything to great. I don't have a whole lot of time to work on this. I bricked my phone and not having much luck getting it replaced. So I won't be working on this to much until I can get a new phone as I will be spending all my time working.
Most stuff posted here is probably gonna be untested.
I will be posting cm7, cm9, and cm10 builds here.
Idk if any of these work.
Don't get mad at me if they brick your device. Infact treat them with a high chance of brickage, unless otherwise noted.

I understand theres not much of a point to this. The main reason for this thread is cm10 as all the other cm10 roms don't have the stock cm kernel. But since I build the other ones anyways i figured I'd post them. And I'll post install instructions.

You'll likely receive a lot of flak over re-hosting/posting stuff as you've seen thus far, but if you're offering something you've re-worked in any way(which is what I understand you're doing) then I'd stick with just that and link to other threads in your OP if necessary.
If you compiled from CM10 source here we have CM10 kernel for Captivate (no datadata partition).
This is very interesting.
Thank you very much: if compiling went well this is really an important step for JB on Cappy and now we can run also official Pawitp builds.

Yeah, this guide will work on 4.3 cm10.2 and any 4.0+ rom( only difference is the priv-app folder). The reason of your issue may be because the device your porting from. I here alot of people port gs3 roms using the nexus 4. Try using the nexus 4.
And remember to use stable roms. Roms that are like in alpha stage my not be able to port saying some apps, permission, etc still relies on unneeded libs.

When I switched to CM 12.1 my first thought was also about flashing Boeffla kernel.
But I decided to try native CM kernel for a few days and surprisingly I was not disappointed
Nice, fast kernel, battery friendly.
So there is no need for me to flash Boeffla on CM 12.1
Boeffla kernel is not compatible with CM and he won't make a Kernel for CM until there is an official CM rom
