[Q] How to change font in Nexus 4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Can any1 pls suggest me how to change font in Nexus 4.
I have tried iFont app but its asking to root my mobile. So i Just downloaded ES file explorer. I installed SuperSU but as I open it after installing it was showing message like "there is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem. If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root consult the relevant forums for ur device!"
I heard that SuperSU is good for getting root permissions easy.
But I was not success
btw I don't have much knowledge regarding this rooting all.:silly: I just know that rooting will help to gain full permissions on device.
So can any1 pls tell me the easy or understandable method for changing font in my mobile Nexus 4

There is no way around rooting, if you want to change your font or something system specific. I can recommend you Wug's Nexus Toolkit. Just search for it. With this tool even 'silly' people gets root easily.

You'll need root to change your fonts. It's easy too root, I don't recommend a tool kit to do that. But most likely you're bootloader is still locked. Unlocking it will wipe your device.

Same problem
I'd like a fix for this as well. I'm trying to test whether it is my rom or the fact that I am rooted leading to market errors on such apps as "Kindle", "Nook", "Overdrive" etc.
I realize that rooting removes the ability to rent movies on the market, but if it also screws up access to the ebook software (or any DRM restricted software), we really need a method to unroot, get what we need, and then reroot. Stealth root?
If they're going to purposefully block legitimate means of obtaining things... Well, that just saves me a lot of money.
Why don't you guys try asking in the Iconiaroot thread?
easiest way to tell is download terminal emulator from the market.
after it installs open it ant type "su" without quotes
if it says permision denied you are NOT rooted.
if it gives you a "#" sign you ARE rooted

This is what I used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544940
Hi I used this tool to unlock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
It support Nexus S (every versions) and it is completely automatic and guide you with easy step in driver installation, unlock, backup and root 4.1.2.
Or after unlock, using this tool you can just reboot in temporary custom recovery and manually flash SuperSU to gain root on 4.1.2.

[Q] What is the Easiest Method to Unlock and Root Nexus 4...

Hello Community.
I am new to the Nexus forums. Previously with HTC and Samsung Android devices. The root process has always been extremely simple and for the most part a pc was never needed with Samsung devices. I am now an owner of a TMobile Nexus 4 and would like to know what is the easiest process to obtain root on my device? Im not looking to do much, just want to get rid of some apps I dont use that are locked into the stock ROM.
Is there an automated root process (one click root) or anything similar? Ive read through the Root Guide but im a bit hesitant to use anything related to command prompts unless its the only way.
Thanks

Learn to use the command prompt. This will save you if you ever run into issues. As a nexus is a developers device you will not find any one clicks here. It is better to know what you are doing then for someone else to do it for you.

Install the drivers for your phone download su.zip to your phone download a recovery img to you computer open a command prompt type
fastboot OEM unlock
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then flash the su.zip in recovery reboot done

Look for the unlock without losing data method. Can't remember what it's called, maybe someone will enlighten.
The best way isn't always the easiest way. Using a toolkit is the easiest way, especially if you're not confident with using command prompts. That's the method I used to root, and had great success with Wug's nexus toolkit. Like was posted previously, rooting via fastboot is the better way, because you're not depending on someone else's work to do the job for you. Plus you'll learn more about your phone and how to fix it should something go wrong.
I find following a video step by step very helpful. I used this to root my N4:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV355YEDzc8
WugFresh toolkit is the easiest that you're going to find. It even allows you to easily unroot and oem lock.
You should learn command prompt like stated but the tool kit is the easiest.

Its very simple just don't reboot the phone after you do oem unlock just flash the recovery right after then wipe caches and reboot.

[Q] Issues with root applications after installing 4.3 ROM

Hey there everyone,
Just picked up my first smartphone, and obviously the first thing I had to do with it is install a different rom. I was able to get the one from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349077
To install just fine on my Canada SGH-I337m phone. It says one of the features of it is root privileges, and I can see SuperSU installed on the phone, but any app that actually tries to access root functions seem to just get turned away. I've tried both OpenVPN Installer and AdAway and OpenVPN is the only app that gives any helpful logs.
When I try to install it, it just fails and in the logs it's saying that /system/ is still read only even after being granted privileges by SuperSU.
Just wondering if I'm making a mistake or if I needed to do something on the phone before the root will work. I've already tried reinstalling SuperSU to no avail, and using the Motochopper root app ended up with a boot loop after it finished.
Open SuperSU and update binaries see if that doesn't cure your issue
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yep, one of the first things I did when it didn't work was update SuperSU where it has you download/install it again from the store, which put me on version 1.65 which I believe is the latest version.
For a Canadian phone you will need to use CF-Auto root. However, trying to root a phone that is already supposed to be rooted can cause problems. I suggest you go to the CF Auto Root thread in the Original Development section and read the thread to see if any additional information or tips are given for your situation. Also, depending on the ROM you installed, you might need to install a Kernel specific for your phone to get full functionality. Again, this can be determines by reading the thread from where you got the ROM from. Good luck.

Towel Root
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Free mobile app
If you have a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP, you just need to download the SuperSU zip from their website and flash the zip in recovery
i haven't done anything to the phone yet, its as it would be out of the box just with my apps and settings on. Would towel root work on 4.4.4? and how would i check if my boot loader is locked or unlocked? thanks
Just check my guide on how to root the nexus 4 without wiping data. It explains how to use Towelroot to root the device and how to unlock the bootloader then (if desired). You may find it in the stickies
