i9505 - Won't boot - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

UPDATE:
- Tried about 4 different stock ROMs. Non of them boot after being flashed. The Recovery Booting text remains.
- Only PhilzTouch boots. No other recovery work. Stock recovery included
- Flashed ROM doesn't boot either. AOSP and TouchWiz.
- SYSTEM STATUS remains Official regardless of the ROM flashed.
ORIGINAL POST:
Hi, I just brought a bricked S4 off Gumtree(Australian Craiglist), and I'm trying to unbrick it. However:
- Stock ROM won't boot. I've flashed it like 10 times now. It'd reboot, say Recovery Booting (in blue text), then freeze there
- Recovery won't boot. I've tried PhilzTouch, TWRP and CWM. What did work was repartitioning it with the Pit and flashing only the recovery. However, installing any custom ROM will leave it in a boot loop (Splash - Kernel is not SEANDROID enforcing - Set warranty bit - kernel - Vibrate - Reboot - Repeat).
Could someone give me a hand? I've read pretty much every thread that's got to do with bootloop, and tried just about everything

[Q] ROM Options Inquiry

I have an original Galaxy Tab (AT&T variant). Last year, I flashed the Euro ROM, and then flashed back to the only AT&T stock ROM I could find; the stock ROM is just fine except for the boot animation. It shows the SAMSUNG flash screen, then goes black during the remainder of the bootup. After a couple minutes, I can press power twice and the device is perfectly usable.
However, it seems that along with the boot animation, my recovery mode is also not possible. Just a black screen. I can get into download mode, but recovery is a no-go.
I want to flash an ICS based ROM, but all the ones I can find require flashing from SD, which is only possible if you can get into recovery mode. Are there any options available that will allow me to flash them via Odin or by any other means using my PC with the device in download mode?
Thanks in advance!
you are quite incorrect there.
To install ICS you need a CUSTOM recovery, mainly ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM Recovery).
Even if you can boot to your AT&T stock recovery, it will not work.
Head over to http://www.teamovercome.net
You can read the guide at overcome site, but it has missing pictures.
You can see the whole guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20974872
I don't know what version is AT&T stock. if it is Gingerbread, you probably can't just flash overcome kernel in tar format using Odin and just boot to recovery and use the recovery.
Thank you very much! I went through that process effortlessly. Now on to more experiments!

[Q] Freezing at Booting primary kernal image with custom ROM

I'm trying to load custom ROMs on my A500. I have followed the instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425 to install a unlocked boot loader (have Skrilax_CZ's bootloader V9 in place), I have TWRP v2.1.3 for recovery kernel. I can boot to recovery to do backups and restores, etc. TWRP seems to install custom ROM.
The only thing that did not go correctly when flashing the bootloader was when A500APXFlash.exe tried to create a BCT.dec (boot configuration table). I could not find the BCT.dec file, so I used the one that came with A500APXFlash.exe.
Here is my problem: any ROM other than the 4.0.3 (which was on the tablet when I started) will not start. After flashing a custom ROM (any one) the boot loader starts and says "Booting primary kernel image" and then freeze with those words on the screen. The image never boots. I have waited a long time (5 minutes) and nothing happens. I restore with TWRP back to 4.0.3 and things work fine.
This is probably some thing simple, but I have done a lot of searching and have not found reference to this issue.
Any help would be appreciated.

[Q] Can't flash any ROM - help?

Hi there.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 and I’m using TWRP Recovery 6.0.4.4.
I tried to flash a nightly-version of CyanogenMod (cm-10.2-20131101-NIGHTLY-jfltexx.zip). I did a Factory Reset before flashing, TWRP said it had been successful.
When I tried to boot my phone, I can see the "SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 GT-I9505" logo, here it got stuck. I can not see the cyanogen boot animation.
Though MD5 hashes and file sizes are ok, I tried another ROM: SuperNexus http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2407616
Here it was exactly the same. My device gets stuck even before the boot animation.
I was so desperate, that I tried to format my complete internal storage. Flashing the ROMs was successful again, I could boot both ROMs CM and Supernexus then. But after I turned off my device I can't boot any more. Again I can not see the boot animation.
I have already tried it with PhilZ and CWM. I flashed them using my current recovery.
Any advice?
I am sorry for my English, if you need more detailed explanation, please ask. I tried to describe everything as detailed as I can.
Can you get into download mode? You may have to flash a stock ROM to get it to working again. Was the phone previously rooted?
And are you currently on a stock ROM or coming from a custom ROM?
Yeah, I can get into Download mode.
Well, I am not sure what ROM I'm currently using since I wiped everything. Previously I had FoxHound ROM, samsung-based pre-rooted custom ROM.
Have you tried flashing a custom Kernel?
Sounds like what I had when I tried to flash a TW Kernel for a AOSP ROM.
If you can't get into recovery, go into download mode and flash the latest CWM. Got my phone working.
FoxHound ROM installed a custom Kernel, "Ausdim Kernel" I think.
Now I have CWM 6.0.3.2 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2279579
Not sure if this is the latest version ... I can't find an Odin-flashable *.tar
Anyway it doesn't work too. This recovery can't even flash CM, it gets stuck at "opening update package ..."
Sorry its a bit late.

Use them. This may help as a tutorial to follow loosely but that was for non working WiFi.

[Q] Softbricked Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900) Kitkat

My N900 got bricked and it cannot get pass the Samsung's boot logo (the static one, not the animation one).
- I had been using rom cook alba19986's UltraLite XXUENI1 on my rooted Note 3 before, all things work perfectly.
- Then I flash kernel Halaszk v0.20 beta, but Synapse didn't work ("No UCI support"), so I flash kernel Halaszk v0.17 in recovery mode. And that's it, the problem occurred.
- Then I got stuck in bootscreen, it went to "Samsung Galaxy Note 3" boot logo and stopped there, I waited but nothing was gonna happen.
- I came back to Recovery Mode, did a full wipe/factory reset, wiped cache, davik cache. But it's no uses.
- I freaked out, so I re-flash Dr.Ketan's K14 rom, TR-ROM T22, alba19986's rom (Full wipe) successfully, but the bootloop happened: the phone continuously rebooted nonstop.
- I tried to flash stock kernel, stock modem in Dr.Ketan's rom (by his MultiTools), but it didn't help.
- Then I downloaded Note 3's stock roms (from SamMobile), which are N900XXUDND1 (contains 4 files inside) and N900XXUDNC1 (5 files inside, one of them is PIT file), and went to Download Mode, flash them via Odin PC v3.10. There was no fail. But the bootloop doesn't go away, even though I did a wipe data/cache (now it returns to Samsung's stock recovery mode)
Please tell me if there's anything that could help me get out of this situation.
I did read the thread here, and here, but my situation might be a bit harder.
Thank you.
Take your battery out, then try and reenter recovery and then wipe, factory reset etc. Boot up and see. Give it a few mins to actuality load up. If it boot loops again, reflash stock and then you should be OK.
Sent from my Spectrum ZX +2
That doesn't help

Thank you, @radicalisto.
Like I said, I tried to re-flash few stock roms which are NC1, ND1, NG1 but it didn't help. I'm still be able to enter Download Mode and Recovery Mode, but no matter it's a stock rom or custom rom, it cannot pass the bootloop. I'm gonna try the newer stock rom NI1, but I cannot download it from Sammobile
SOLVED by UPBOX
I have my phone upboxed Didn't know exactly the problem, but I assume that Halaszk kernel causes the bootloop.

[Q] S4 stuck in weird Bootloop/Soft-Brick. Can't figure it out.

Hi guys,
So I've been playing with my S4 GT-I9505 since it was released , flashing different ROMS, customs recoveries and so on... It sometimes went bad, but I always was able to recover the phone because I could access Download Mode.
At the beginning of this week, I was testing an AOSP MM build for GS4 with TWRP 2.8.7.2 and F2FS. Since almost all of the apps weren't working, I decided to do a TWRP backup and restore from my TWRP of JDCTeam's 5.1.1 custom rom based on CM12.
I kinda made a mistake and decided to recovery my boot partition also. Phone booted up then couldn't boot system. Then the screen flashed weirdly, and went progressively yellow, with the samsung logo fading in the background. So I pulled the battery there, and rebooted. Phone couldn't boot recovery nor system. But I could enter Download Mode. So I decided to flash TWRP Recovery 2.8.7.2, but I still couldn't enter recovery.
Since, I've tried and flashed for 5 or 6 times a Stock ROM (5.0.1 ) through both Odin and Heimdall, with and without Auto-Reboot in order to make a Hard Reset after by pulling the battery, with and without Re-Partitioning with the PIT file.
The phone no longer says "set warranty bit: custom " and so, but still can't enter in recovery or system...
What do you think I should do? Send it to the after sales service (even if I got no warranty anymore)? Is there a secret trick?
PS: The last custom ROMs I flashed were quite particular (custom kernel, f2fs support (that I used)) and KIES does not seem to be able to help
