Need some help and guidance
I switched from a Windows phone to Android. I have the S5 with ATT. When I used my Bluetooth over the ear in with my windows phone I was able to get notification of who is calling (Answer or Ignore), also with my TEXT I was able to get information like message From then it would ask if I want to reply, or ignore. If I selected reply I could (voice) via the blue tooth tell it my message it would read it back to me then I could say send.
This was all with my Plantronics voyager legend Bluetooth and the windows phone. I was told the S5 could do the same.
The S5 works great I can answer or ignore calls via Bluetooth but I cannot have the phone read me information from the text or an option for me to reply to the text via my bluetooth. I made lots of calls to ATT and to Plantronics and they both point the finger at each other.
Any help would be great.
For others who haven't used WP, this is how you could set it up to handle texts:
It would read out loud "Message from [person's name]. You can say 'Read It' or 'Ignore.'"
If you said "Read it" it would read the message out loud and then say "You can say 'reply,' 'call' or 'I'm done.'"
If you said "reply," you could say your text out loud and it would send the message.
I've found Android apps that read your text messages out loud, but the ones I've found automatically read the whole message. I don't want that. I want it to tell me who I have a text from and then it can read it out loud if I want it to. Is there any way to do this?

Hi there, when i activate blue tooth, people can see my phone and send me files, but i cant get it to work the other way round, seeing other peoples phones is intermittent and sending a file impossible, anyone got any pointers for me?
Mark
ok if you want to send a file, click hold it and you will get "beam file" as one of the options (This does IR and Bluetooth) If you have your bluetooth turned on you will have two lines that say searching. The first one is Ir and then you should get some others below with the bluetooth icon next to them, if you wait a couple of secs you should get the name of the other bluetooth phones etc. then you just click on the "Tap to send" and there you go.
it just sticks at "searching" ?
meanwhile, other ppl can see my phone and send me stuff?
Mark
*bump*
my problem is just opposite..I can BEAM via blue tooth and other people can't send me even though i've set it to be visible to others..others can see my mobile
Hi guys.
I saw a lot of posts about answering machine and I know is not possible to do that, however I'm trying a different thing.
I successfully established a data call, now I want to grab sounds from the mic to send them over the modem but when the call go in the connected state the wavein device doesn't receive any more message...
I tryed to get the mic deviceid after the connected message with lineGetId(,,,"wave/in"), but I receive an operation LINEERR_OPERATIONFAILED.
Anyone can tell me where I'm wrong?
I was wondering if you clever devs could look into adding phone functionality to the adam 3g model ?
it should be capable and would be handy for the odd occasions with a bluetooth headset.
The early tablets and recently at ces the tablet had phone icons on the desktop so im sure its at least a possibility !!
many thanks in advance
On the Battery Use, I have seen a "Phone" process.
Maybe it is already activated, but not used
You can get to the phone section via "contacts" but when you try to make a call it says "call ended" after you hit the call button. From the FCC docs, it says that the Ericcson F3307 3G card is "voice" capable so in theory it is possible! The only thing even close to phone functionality that does work is the sending/receiving SMS messages atm.
Just a shot in the dark, but does google voice's data calling use the same process?
yes and it sucks. it only stinks that the google voice works over data and not wifi. so i cant make a call over wifi if i dont have a valid sim card in.
Everything worked fine yesterday but my last day was yesterday and had to reactivate today (which i did when i woke up) and now i cant receive texts or calls and when i send a text i get unable to send message - message blocking is active and when i make calls i get "the phone you are using does not allow outgoing calls" but my data still works. This is all simple mobile isnt it? it cant be my phone. Ive been on the phone all day with them and all they have said was to restart my phone and take the sim out.
Please help!!!

Click to collapse
I think it's a safe bet the issue is on their end. Record the message (use Sound Recorder on a PC if needed) and play it back for them. There is no setting on your phone that would produce this audio message that I am aware of.
Problems Handling Phone Calls (Call Waiting, 3 way, etc.) Verizon S5 on AT&T Network
I recently bought a used Verizon Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V). It came with the lollipop OS. From the outset, I had problems with phone calls, text messaging.
1. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to dial (Like to enter numbers for automated systems).
*I solved this one by going to:
settings>applications>call>
Scroll down to DTMF tones and change setting to long.
2. When I'm in a call, I'm not able to click over to calls on call waiting. When I do try to click over, I still hear the original call for a few seconds and then both calls drop and I get an error message that says "no sim or invalid sim". If I don't answer the call, both calls drop and I get the same message. The same thing happens if a try to make a 3 way call.
3. If someone calls me and I try to call them back, the call redirects to turn it into an international call and the call doesn't go through.
*I solved this using an app called prefixer
4. If I try to text message someone who called me, I get an error message back saying the phone number is invalid.
I figured I would have to root my phone to be able to make some custom changes. I first had to downgrade to kitkat (android 4.4.2) and root it and then upgrade with root using some very helpful posts and resources found on this site (thanks). When I downgraded, problems 1 and 2 went away (for number 1, I had to change my network mode, but that solution didn't work when I went back to lollipop). After upgrading beack to lollipop, all of these problems were there, though I was able to resolve 2 of them, the other 2 are problematic.
I think theres a problem with the way the phone is handling the AT&T network signal since they have a different type of network from verizon but i don't know. I need some help please. Has anyone encountered these kinds of problems and solved them. Thanks
