Hey all,
I have my Galaxy s4 (wich I LOVE) since a year now.
I have the vanilla android ROM running on my s4.
Since I really love this rom more tham TW; I'm wondering if it would be possible to download the stock rom (instead of a custom ROM) from the Google Play edition on my s4. (Maybe with odin or something?) since it has exactlly the same hardware.
So, do you think it is possible? And if it is; How?
Thanks in advance;
David.

no you can not do that they dont have the same bootloader and if you try this you can brick your phone
Quote myself from another post:

Hi guys,
I want to flash my 1st custom ROM which is Omega v13.2. This requires bootloader XXUB...or XXUD...with corresponding modems. The modems are available to be downloaded via omega thread. My dilemma is how do I update my bootloader as omega ROM doesn't include one. My current phone status is as follows.
-i9505 bought from amazon.co.uk using on Three UK.
-android 4.2.2 stock firmware rooted using cf-autoroot.
-CWM 6.0.4.4 recovery
-Bootloader: i9505XXUAMDM (found using "android system info" app)
-Baseband: i9505XXUAMDM (found in settings/about device)
My only experience with modding is with a HTC sensation, so I am new to odin.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I think XDA is the bee's knees!

Hello there mate!
You don't actually have to update your bootloaded. All you have to do is just download GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUEMJ5.tar first. The link is found under the installation guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2253528
Quoted from the installation Guide :
Steps:
1.Go into download mode and ODIN-flash the modems from the link I mentioned above for a bootloader XXUD
------STEPS quoted from installation guide---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flash modems (If you already have the correct modems, ignore this step):
Power Off your device completely
Wait a little and then power on device to download mode (Power button + Home button + Volume down button)
**If you are having the old bootloader XXUB flash GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1.tar file with odin by selecting phone.
**If you are having the new bootloader XXUD flash GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUEMJ5.tar file with odin by selecting phone.
Go to Settings and make sure that modems flashed ok
This step is necessary to be done correct because XXUEMJ5 LTE modem will break your sound on old Bootloader
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. As soon as your phone reboots, check the baseband version. Make sure that it shoes something like "I9505XXUEMJ5"
3.As soon as you're done, you can now flash and Enjoy Omega V13.2
Hope this helps mate.
There are a lot of threads about problems with an old bootloader and Omega Rom. You want my advice? Pick an other custom rom then Omega.
You don't need to upgrade your bootloader, in fact don't ever do it, if you don't have to.
I am about to root my Note 3 N9005(4.3 MJ7). Then flash 4.4.2(poland) to be able to flash X-Note v8. I don't want anything to go wrong so if anybody can explain step by step on how to do that, i would be really thankful.
There is numerous guides on the forum. Alternatively, check out the first post on any of the KK custom ROMS and it'll show you how.

Yes it does but it only says how to install the rom after you got root, flashed to 4.4.2 and have a custom recovery.
So it's i bit confusing
I don't want it to go wrong when you can't reset the knox counter.
download Kitkat (XEO generally used atm) - grab Odin 3.07 or 3.04 or even 1.85 -- don't use 3.09 - unrar kitkat so you have an MD5 file, put your phone in download mode (make sure reactivation lock is off beforehand) - load the MD5 into PDA slot in Odin, flash it.
Once Kitkat is installed, grab a custom recovery (make sure you have the right one for KK) install via Odin, flash via PDA slot, takes around 20seconds, reboot and voila recovery installed.
Download your ROM, boot into recovery, flash it from the location it's saved on your phone. boot up and set up. new ROM installed.
If you have a Hong Kong Note you need to read more, if you have an NEE Note you need to read more also.

Thanks. I have the International Note 3(Swedish). Which recovery for 4.4.2 do you recommend?
Swedish falls under the NEE region If I'm not mistaken, I wouldn't flash just yet due to some major FC's with dialer and settings etc, - Need to have a read around and see what issues people have and how they've (potentially) solved it.

Oh, that's to bad. I guess Poland Firm is also NEE.
People have had issues flashing XEO on NEE devices, It's possible it may work, and I might be wrong. But there has been issues on NEE devices, could be that your device may work. But I wouldn't want to recommend you to try just in case.

KK is TW based,if you want off TW try temasek's CM 11 or ProBAM with Yank555's kernel both work great, alternatively there is CarbonROM also which is doing a nightly build and looks good also.
For KK custom recovery you can use CWM by chenglu or the latest TWRP (not 6.3.7)

The plan was to flash 4.4.2(poland version) then flash X-Note v8 which requires the Poland version of the official 4.4.2.
Xeo KK roms works perfectly fine with mine Finnish note3(NEE). I have tried X-note 8.0 but it had some deep sleep problems(X-note kernel). I can warmly recommed Foxhound rom-Ground Zeroes 2.0 or clean and battery friendly Crash Rom 4.3.
I have a Galaxy S4 i9506 model SHV E300S from Korea (SK Telecom). Currently running 4.3.
Please give me detailed steps on how to install the firmware i downloaded from live samsung updates for my firmware. Do I have to extract the file and what to do on Odin. Is it also safe to do it via Odin if I have Philz recovery installed but my phone is not rooted? Can I also jump in from 4.3 to 4.4.2 without installing other firmwares between them? Thanks!

I dont recommend u update ur phone to Kit Kat. The final updates arent recognized by KIES. This mean are leaks with bugs. Wait for the OFFICIAL update.

What does your screenshot means? I have tried updating via Kies and it actually downloaded the firmware I need. Isn't it official then? I just can't continue the process as Kies does not recognize phones with customizations or modifications, in my case I have Philz recovery installed as CWM. I want to upgrade because 4.3 in SHV-E300S has battery problems, as it terribly drains so fast!
What I want to know is the exact steps on how to update the phone via Odin IF Philz recovery is installed. Thanks
Please give me thed etailed steps and settings for Odin. Is there also no risk on loaing my IMEI and network connectivity? Thanks

Thanks sir. Additional question: Do I have to install earlier versions of 4.4.2 or 4.3? I'm currently using 4.3 and I've read from another thread here that I have to install other fiemwares progressively (from my current version to the next and further versions till I reach the desired one) to make sure partition configurations won't go wrong. Can you confirm this? Thanks again!

Hello,
I have a N9005 that I'm tryin to install a custom ROM (I have another one already with Norma v29 working perfectly). In this one I flashed the original 5.0 firware and then tried to root, isntall custom recover, custom rom, etc., as I normally do. With this phone I can root and install custom recovery but every custom ROM i tried I always have a bootloop on Galaxy Note 3 screen (tried Norma, Phonesis, etc.).
I can reflash to an original ROM but don't understand why it doesn't work with a custom ROM.
Can any one help me? I even tried to change bootloader on a specfific tutorial for Norma v29.
Thank you in advance!
Boot to download mode and check the model first .
Is this a used phone ??
Hello. Yes is a used phone. The model is a SM-9005. The roms I'm using are for this model. I tried again a Lolipop 5.0 stock rom, then root, then recovery (until here everything works). Then applied Norma V29 and i'm stuck again at the Galaxy Note 3 screen, the blue led starts to blink and then the phone restarts. Really can't understand. Even tried the same memory card from my Note. Well the only difference is that one is 16GB and this one is 32GB. Any stock rom work perfectly but didn't want to use them.
Can it be that the internal memory size is causing the issue? is the only difference....can someone help?
Well my original phone is a 32GB. Don't know why the hell I was thinking 16GB... so most weired. If someone could help will be great. It's working with the stock 5.0 and rooted with CM-AUTO.
before flashing custom firmware you should enter the recovey and make complete format for both cache and data partitions.
after the firmware install it might take the system up to 10 minutes to boot.
Thank you for the answer. i'm doing all the steps (I changed roms on Note 3 for some time now). This one startups on the Galaxy Note 3 Screen, the led starts to blink (like 4-5 times) and restarts himself. So is not waiting time. made factory resets, all the wipes, even a script I found for fixing EFS. When I flash a Android 4.4 or 5.0 stock from SamMobile just works.

Suggests you are using the wrong TWRP version .
Read the roms instructions/ search thread .
use TWRP version 2.8.7.0.
Most custom roms do not support v 3.x.x.x

I thought I'd clean up the phone.
I installed via ODIN official fw = Lollipop.
Then root + TWRP 3.1.1.
Next installing custom rom RR 7.1.
ERROR
I resolved as follows:
Installing "CP_N9005XXUGBPB1_MODEM.tar" + "BL_N9005XXUGBPB2_BOOTLOADER.tar"
Now RR installation is successful!
But "not SIM" (can not enter PIN)
Solution:
Override file "libsec-ril.so". Here is: Root / System / lib / libsec-ril.so
Done - it works!
Files here: https://ulozto.cz/!M6PZA7EKQHNe/xda-zip
It helped me. Will it help you too?

I have issues aswell. When the setup screen should come, all kinds of services stop working (f.e. "Surface/UI stopped working")
What I tried (N910F Germany, originally T-Mobile Branding but unlocked):
- Flash Stock Rom via Odin (tried both Vanilla and T-Mobile version): https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-4/firmware/SM-N910F/DBT/
- Rom + PIT: https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...te-4-pit-files-repartiton-f-g-c-t-w8-t3282641
- Rom + PIT + BL + Modem: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=41392
Would need a tutorial for a clean install if Kernels or other stuff were modified like in the Ketan Rom.
EDIT: I got it to work, with the files from this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/note-4-debrick-img-t3488114
Flashed everything with odin from this folder (except boot_recovery_v2.pit) https://mega.nz/#F!QIMmFRIT!Ns3AM-n0FUoMqOOWUif9ng!YN9lgLRI
I originally had a T-Mobile Brand, now its Vodafone Brand. You might try swapping the Firmware with a brandless one for Italy from Sammobile, might work and if not I don't think you crash anything with it (the files are for 5.1.1, so take a 5.1.1. Firmware and update).
