Yep...wrong place to post. Why not just create a dialing shortcut. Place it on every screen so no matter where you are on the phone, one click and it dials.

Or just open the phone app? Honestly what did you actually try before posting this? Lol. Maybe I'm missing what you are asking.

Waking from sleep using Volume buttons

Hi.
I'm so used to having a power button either on the front or on the side of the phone I think I'd struggle to get used to it where it is on the one. Does anyone know if it's possible to wake the phone using the volume rocker would make life so much easier.

Yep its possible with root access.

good point...I hate designs with on/off/wake button placed on top furthermore on top left side. I loved my SGS3 with precisely placed wake button. Additionaly the volume rockers are flat and in one plane with the phone body so there wont be any accidental on/wakes should be really great to wake with them...

Thru modding keychars or keylayout. Sorry forgot but you just need to add a word there to the designated key number.

I also have the same problem - I tried looking for a software solution, but I always come to a hardware solution
even tried flashing stock ROM again, after trying everything possible with WANAMLITE ROM (1.7) - which works great on my father's S4.
going now to the service center - will let you know what they say
Thank u

OK
so after fixing this problem at the service center I can assure you one thing - it is a hardware problem.
I didn't have the guts to open my new phone myself, so I went to a lab - he changed the ear speaker in 5 minutes and it works. if you want you can buy it on ebay - it should cost around 10$ and do it yourself - that's the only way to fix it

S-voice or g-now activating like siri

I love how anytime the screen is on (iPhone) you can lift the phone to your ear and siri will just activate. I have tasker but not very good at it. Can someone help me get s-voice or Google Now to work activate in a similar way? Thanks.

Try to create a new profile in tasker that checks for two "State" checks
1. Display State - On
2. Proximity Sensor (enabled)
When both of these are true, launch app - Google Search
Edit: You may want to also check to make sure you are not in a call at that time. Tune the State conditions as needed
Thanks. I will try it today.

Proximity Sensor timings & dialpad issues

hi all. i have two concerns. is there a way to make the phone come back to normal faster after moving the phone away from your ear when you end the call or while in call? if that makes sense.
another concern is while i'm on the call, without moving the phone away from my ear or anything, the phone will just dial a random string of numbers as if i'm pressing them accidentally. in each instance the dialpad is open while i'm in call, but i'm not moving the phone away from the ear so the phone should be staying dim. now, i'm not sure what exactly happens, but i'll be on the phone and then i'll hear just a bunch of tones as if i'm pressing the numbers on the dialpad and the other party would be all WTF. and then i take the phone away from my ear and look at it and there's like a string of random numbers pressed. i use a Dialer One app for my dialer. never used to happen before. i'm on 4.3 right now, rooted.
thank you.

These two things are directly connected. There should be a line in the build prop that controls the delay. But the reasons that you're face dialing is two fold. One, because the proximity sensor is in a weird place in the left corner of the phone and two, because the delay is slightly too short. So if the corner of the phone is at an angle to your face, it pops on real quick. Making the delay smaller will make your face dialing much worse.

Thank you for that info. Although I'm pretty sure that I keep the phone in constant contact with my ear, I'll pay more attention to how I hold it to see if that's the issue why I face dial. As for the delay, I think it's too long for my liking. If there's a way I could change that I'd be grateful for that information. Thanks.
Have you checked your proximity sensor to see if it is registering properly? Use one of the sensor test apps.

Forgive me for a dumb question, but what is a build prop? So using xposed framework wouldn't work either?

A build prop is a document that holds a lot of your phones technical documentation. Like when you see a signature on here and it tells you the type of phone. That info was grabbed by tapatalk from the build prop. And if it had an option to do so, you should try it.
