Just wondering if there was a ROM out there that enables blocking through the native messaging app?

I'm running the S5 messaging app as well and there is no native/built-in feature to block messages. If you want to block messages, you'll have to download a 3rd party app from the Google Play store (i.e. SMS Blocker).

On my S3 and Note 2 I long press the thread in messaging and there is the option to add to spam numbers. They took that option off of the S5?

Just root and debloat. Then add a third party messaging app from the play store. Handcent or go sms.

Use the T-Mobile rom wicked has everything except the AOSP Messager. So far this is the best ROM

The galaxy s4 on att actually supports group messaging. Go to the text message app>settings, scroll down to Multimedia message (MMS) settings and check the group messaging option. I am running 4.2.2 . This was actually the first option i tested in the att store before buying the phone because it used to piss me off with my S3.
What exactly is group messaging?

Where multiple contacts are in the same message thread. So I can send a message to persons A, B, and C and all messages received from them in response to that group message will be received and viewed in the same thread.

Is there a replacement app that in the conversation view, shows who sent the last message (in addition to the actual message)?

I'm unsure of what exactly you're looking for - based on how you ask it, to me - sounds like the stock Messaging App already has this.
Are you on stock ROM?

No,
The stock application shows the message in conversation view, but it does not say WHO sent it (me or the other person).
Is there an app that shows this?

Head into the Play store and search for GO SMS
it's a pretty decent SMS app that works on most Android phones

GoSMS would be recommended by myself as well if thats what you need/want. I downloaded it and confirmed it does display WHO sent it.

Oh, i'm unsure where in settings it is. By default after I installed it, it already had that feature enabled. I'll take a look around when I have a moment.

I have the premium version some how or another? I didn't pay for anything. I uninstalled it to reinstall it and noticed there is a premium version as opposed to the Go SMS Pro (free) version.
Ok,
But where is that option located?
Handcent sms is the other sms replacement. ..n0t sure it has ur feature but worth checking out

I hope Google soon implements this once KitKat is up and running. That'd be sweet!

I wish more people had chimed in on this thread, but my two cents would be that such a feature would be very difficult to implement.
The stock MMS app was and still is open source, included in the AOSP Android release. Hangouts, however, is a closed source proprietary app, meaning it will be much more difficult to modify than the MMS app was.
I too am dying for some form of quick reply for Hangouts, it's a major piece of functionality I miss even though I've warmed up to the rest of the app. I just think we're going to have to hope for something like Halo to come to more ROMs, because quick reply in the app is highly unlikely.

I doubt a mod would be able to. The app will need to be designed that way.
Check xposed module call " sms xposed " and add quick reply ( beta ) it's work great !

Hi, guys! I know that probably most of you don't care about the emojis but I found that there are a few of them missing and I wondered if anyone of you knows if you can input them with the stock keyboard.. Here are some screenshots:
These are the ones the Samsung keyboard has:
These are the missing ones:
I think they are the same one but samsung decided to use different icons for them.
i noticed when i use them in message they come up as mms does that mean they cost to send them

I meant that I can't input the ones from the second picture using the stock keyboard :silly:
Okay, Hangouts was updated with the SMS feature. We can sent emoji using SMS through it and it won't convert it to MMS.
While the Stock samsung's messaging app converts it to MMS as soon as emoji is input.

I went to best buy yesterday and noticed the s5 on display had the messaging app with a dark theme! Is there any way to get this on our phones?
If you go to settings and display you can change background for when your in a conversation. But in the overview you can't. You sure it wasn't the Verizon sms app?

Does 8sms have a quick reply popup? I really like that with chomp sms. And you can customize the look of everything. Mine is totally dark right now.

Unfortunately coming from a galaxy nexus i would like to avoid the stock kit kat messaging app. I've used it for a while an i don't really like it lol. I like the way the stock s5 messaging app looks.
