After upgrading to the S5, I've found that my Twitter app (same app used on my previous phone, Galaxy S3) doesn't appear to be notifying me of new tweets. Additionally, the widget doesn't seem to be updating either. I can update it by manually going in to the Twitter app and refreshing tweets, but aside from that it just kind of sits there. It used to push me a notification every time someone I follow tweeted, and the widget would always be updating. Anyone else having this problem?
Specs:
Galaxy S5 G900P
Rooted, PhilZ Touch Recovery Bootloader
M.O.A.R. ROM v1.0
I believe the app was having this issue before I even rooted the device as well, so I'm not sure that it has anything to do with it. Is there a Twitter or Phone setting that I should mess with to allow it to update? In the Application Manager, Twitter is set to "Allow Updates". Within the Twitter app itself, it is set "Notifications are ON", "Sync data is ON", and "Sync interval = 1 hour". Even now, the widget is showing my second to most recent tweet in my feed, and will not update.

Quick question, does anybody know how to stop Timescape updating facebook everytime i select it via the apps list or the tile on my main home page. Ive changed the update frequency in "Settings" for facebook to never but it still updates everytime i select Timescape.
Cheers
If there is an account setup it will update every time TimeScape is opened. The only way to stop it is to delete the account from TS (at least, as far as I have found)
Any ideas why it doesnt seem to update my hotmail account ive got set up as well each time i open it?
Running DK28 on my Epic 4G, not rooted, haven't made any changes to facebook/twitter or anything on my phone. For some reason the Feeds & Updates widget hasn't updated in a couple days though, I tried to manually make it update and it says network not available (everything else works fine though).
Facebook and Twitter apps are both the latest version and the linked contacts in my contact list are still up to date.
Any ideas guys?
I read that Facebook had an update recently. I was on the Epic's stock version of Facebook; right after the update was offered in the market, I noticed the SNS sync process kept prompting me to log in. The prompt occurred with each sync interval because the sync failed to connect.
The constant prompts and lack of synchronization basically forced me upgrade to this latest update. So far things seem stable, but I'm keeping an eye on my battery consumption. The complaints on this update are lengthy.
Twitter: I dunno. I don't have an account for that service.
As for the actual Samsung widgets, Facebook could have changed something on the back-end that broke the widget for now. Who knows, but this wouldn't explain your Twitter account not displaying feeds.
At first I thought it was due to the recent facebook update, but it started before I downloaded it. I also had a newer version of the app than the stock one with the phone (I think I had 1.5.0, and the update was 1.5.1 - I was using whichever one was the second most recent and first added fb chat).
All other facebook related stuff is working fine apart from facebook contact photos only being shown on the contacts list and not on calls/messages. Twitter works fine too outside of the Samsung widget,

This happened to me this morning. I had to manually sync all my Google Contacts to their respective FB account. When I let FB do it automatically, it did not carry over to SMS.
Answer:
1. Go to settings > Accounts and sync
2. Delete all the accounts(Well, you don't have to delete twitter or google, but the facebook ones)
3. Reboot your phone. [Edit by nikon120: Used to say "Reset", but that is misleading.]
4. Go back into settings > Accounts and sync.
5. Add the facebook account(Under Integrated, not More).
6. To test if this worked, sync a contact to facebook(Long pressing their name, click "Link account", find the account and link them) Their picture should come up.

hm
the feeds & updates widget sync'd earlier today, but now it's busted again
EDIT: Also my contacts are just phone contacts, I don't have them on my google contact list (except for one). It's phone + fb, and one or two twitters.
It's up for a day, down for a day - now it's saying "no feeds to display."
Man... sod Samsung.

update soon? /teaser
My Facebook and Twitter SNS feeds have suddenly stopped working. When I go to Setting > Accounts & sync and click on my Facebook or Twitter account under 'Manage account' the SNS Service is unclicked. When I try to click them to reactivate it, it fails giving me an error saying, "Activation failed, tap to reactivate." I discovered this problem because I received a notification from both Facebook and Twitter in my Notification Pane at the top of the screen saying, "Facebook/Twitter registration error. Register manually."
These feeds were working wonderfully before last night. I was receiving updates via the ticker every half hour or so. Has this happened to anyone lately? It started for me last night sometime.
For troubleshooting purposes, I have done nothing to my phone lately. I have not installed apps or messed with any settings. All I have done is used my phone for normal things like making/receiving calls and sending/receiving text messages along with accessing my Facebook/Twitter via the app installed on my phone. My phone is completely stock and is not rooted. I updated to DL17 around 1 week ago. Again, the problem did not rear its head until last night.

I didn't place my post under that thread because I'm not having RSS feed issues. I'm having SNS feed issues.
As a follow up to my original post, today I did a factory reset on the phone and am still receiving the same errors for my SNS feeds as listed above. One observation I have made however is that while I'm trying to active my SNS feeds via Setting > Accounts & sync, I will receive Facebook/Twitter ticker updates. However, I do not receive updates via the ticker once the attempted activation of my SNS feeds has failed.
To me this sounds like a Samsung software bug. I called Verizon yesterday and they had no record of this problem reported elsewhere. They advised me to notify Samsung via their device forums.
The SNS feeds started magically working again after about a week. Here is a list of things I attempted to correct the problem:
1. Delete all my SNS accounts and recreate them.
2. Active and deactivate my SNS accounts countless times.
3. Turn off the ticker sleep function.
I'm not sure which one fixed the problem but my guess is the ticker sleep function. I saw at one point my ticker sleep function was continuing past the time I had set which was really odd. Keep in mind too that the problem did not correct itself immediately after any of my attempts. After doing all the listed above it just started working days later.
Maybe this will be of some use to someone experiencing the same problem.
Hi All
I've got the samsung e-mail app set up for my exchange active sync account and everything is working as it should. However, I have noticed that if you open the samsung e-mail application from a shortcut it says refreshing at the bottom of the screen but no mail is actually transferred until you go to menu and select refresh. It then says refreshing at the bottom of the screen and your new mail is downloaded.
Has anyone else noticed this and is there any way to fix this so that the mail will start downloading when you open the app (or knows what the app is doing when it says 'refreshing' and it isn't actually doing anything?)
Many thanks
Spud
PS apologies for the typo in the message header!
Mine doesn't even load even if I refresh it manually and that damn circle keeps circling!!! (Not always, but many times)
Op, the refreshing on start up is synching up your screen view with the little mail database on the phone (that is in turn updated by android auto sync process if auto sync is enabled).
The refresh in the menu is actually going to servers to grab new mail.
I just realized I have never gotten any Twitter notifications on my new tablet (wifi version US). I get them on my old phone running nougat. In app info, I have notifications enabled. Also checked the app's own settings. Anyone else seeing this?
