I can't boot into recovery. I rooted using towelroot, and unlocked my bootloader with Motopocalypse. I'm running Android 4.4.2. Recovery installed through fastboot. I have tried TWRP and ClockworkMod. When I boot into recovery, I get the Motorola unlocked device warning for a few minutes, then the device reboots normally. It does this when booting into recovery from the buttons, from adb, and from holding Power + Volume Up + Volume Down and selecting it.. help please?

What version did you use? Use dhacker's 2.7.1.0 TWRP, it is compatible with the KK update.

Yes - flash dhacker's Kit Kat TWRP 2.7.1.0 and it will work. The BIOS (bootloader) for the RAZR M's Kit Kat update works differently now. I had the same problem as you, until I asked for the lead on where I should obtain the recovery. I used RDS Lite with modified XML to only flash the recovery but you ought be able to use any tool offered herein to flash it.

Or if you use RSD Lite: download it onto your PC then edit RSD Lite update XML to only flash the recovery image and place the TWRP image into the same folder XML is in (you may just rename TWRP file to recovery.img to make matter easier). And, delete MD5 checksum in recovery line so it can flash.

I just read in another thread that custom recoveries cannot yet be flashed on the latest OTA. You have to revert back in order to have a custom recovery. According to this thread.

Hi, I tried to flash twrp recovery with some help from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670 but it keeps saying fail.. I tried both options.
if rooted freegee is easier from app store, it gets proper automagically.
If trying to flash via cwm, get the recovery flashable zip from the thread and not the img. Doubt thats the case

"Keeps saying it failed" What failed, in what part? Also currently there's no way to unlock the bootloader, but use loki bypass instead, basically when you have recovery installed, you don't have to worry much about bootloader or loki.

Hello, I've looked around for a solution to this with no joy. I managed to root my note 3 with no problem with cf autoroot only to find that I still had a stock recovery.
I tried other methods also and I just cannot get a custom recovery to flash on my device.
When I try to flash a cwm via Odin it leaves me in a bootloop.
Any ideas?

You mentioned cwm but not twrp ( unless I missed it ). I linked cwm just to make sure you used the one proven to work with 4.4.2 as you didn't mention exactly which one you used and I believe there are other cwm variants ( phil's touch, original cwm ). If my attempt to help isn't appreciated, a simple yes or no would suffice. I know how to read.

Flashify + 2.8.3.0 --> Download Mode
I am on TWRP 2.8.1.0. I used Flashify to flash 2.8.3.0 img. The phone rebooted into Download Mode with no selectable menu options and stating it could not boot normally and write protection is enabled. Neither a long power button hold, a long power button hold + plus volume up, nor a battery pull would stop the phone from booting immediately into Download Mode.
I used the combo volume up + home button + long power button and instead of the previous Download Mode screen, a different screen pops up giving me two choices continue loading a custom OS or rebooting. When I select "reboot", the phone reboots normally. When I tried to enter TWRP recovery without using Flashify, the phone rebooted to Download Mode again. When I tried to use Flashify to flash a zip of TWRP 2.8.1.0, Flashify could not access the zip. I tried the TWRP app (which didn't work so well for me in the past), and it too leads to Download Mode when I try to flash the 2.8.1.0 zip or install OpenRecovery Script 2.8.1.0.
Unfortunately, my USB port is non-functional. (It died in an accident a few months back.) I cannot connect to my laptop via wire connection. (I can use FTP and bluetooth to transfer files and FTP to traverse the file system.)
Without being able to enter recovery mode nor using ADB, any ideas how can install or restore a functional recovery?

Wow. Thanks for the quick response but I don't think you read my message.
As posted above, I used Flashify to flash the official 2.8.3.0 img. However, the phone rebooted into Download Mode with no selectable menu options and stating it could not boot normally and write protection is enabled.
When I tried to enter TWRP recovery without using Flashify, the phone reboots to Download Mode again.
