Hi, What I did is just flash stock KK and it deleted TWRP and lose root, done
The stock KK takes a long time to flash and after is done, you will lose custom recovery and root.
Hope this helps

Flashing the stock KK will erase all other partitions just make sure you wipe everything before flashing ej: format data, system, cache, internal storage, etc just wipe ALL after that just flash stock KK and all done. that's what I did.

Safe to update to 4.4 w/stock OTA rooted?

I'm running rooted w/stock OTA 4.3. Are there any special upgrade procedures to update to 4.4 when rooted via Koush superuser and using the stock OTA?
Was able to update to 4.3 OTA w/o incident (see thread below)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45183403#post45183403
Bump...any info on whether or not its possible would be appreciated.
It should work as long as everything is stock (including recovery and kernel). You will however lose root, but that can easily be reobtained by flashing it after updating.

If you are rooted why not just flash a rooted stock rom? Confused why you wait for answers from others... I am just curious since I see people do this and it confuses me... Just askin and sorry if you think I may be flamin'.
Do people think the OTA is different somehow or works better somehow

Pretty sure that if I flash stock ROM I'm going to lose my settings. I've had VERY bad results backing up and restoring going from 4.2 to 4.3 and really don't want to go through that hassle unless absolutely required.
To answer your other question, I just prefer to be on the OTA.

If you are on a stock rom and flash the upgraded version you wont lose your settings. Flashing one rom over another can be done its just frowned up in some cases. Lets be honest though there are quite a few back up tools out there for you to achieve a duplicated look going from one rom to another within the hour.
I hear ya if you had issues but you sure its not in your procedure. Be glad to help you if you need it. Thanks for answering the question though but I believe your route is more cumbersome than just a simple flash but what ever makes you more comfortable is best I get that

Mine was same specs like yours (stock 4.3 - rooted by Koush superuser) and updated to 4.4 through OTA just fine :good:
Never had any problem with Koush superuser and OTAs on both Nexus 4 & Galaxy Nexus (can't say the same with supersu)
Tried to upgrade to 4.4. The upgrade failed and the phone reports no command when I reboot. Still on stock recovery.
Any suggestions on what I should try next to recover?
Note: I do have TWRP available while running fastboot.
I installed the factory stock image (and formatted the cache but didn't wipe out the userdata image). I know the first boot should take an extended amount of time, but its been showing the rotating circles for about 8 minutes now. What is a reasonable amount of time for the initial boot?
Wiping the cache and the Dalvik cache from TWRP solved it. I'm rooted again and things appear to be back to normal.

The 4.4 OTA upgrade failed and wouldn't boot. A poor attempt at humor I guess.

the only way to go back to stock recovery is to go back to stock but you can also follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2673736 which will allow you to have root and custom recovery

Hi Guys, I have read some topics about downgrading, but im not fully understanding if this is only for people who is already rooted or if this will work for a non rooted device. In my case i have an At&t Lg G2 not rooted with 4.4.2 kitkat and wanted to revert to 4.2 so i can root and then flash a rooted stock 4.4.2 kitkat. Is it possible to do that, even if i was never rooted? I do understand there's no root for kitkat as of now.
Thanks guys.

[Q] CM11 Problem.. Help Needed

Hi all,
I am interested in the CM11 ROM. Last night I spent 6hrs trying and failed, epically.
Here is what I did already:
1. Downgraded from 4.4.2 back to factory
2. Successfully rooted
3. Installed ROM Manager
4. Successfully downloaded CM11 and latest GApps
Then when I tried to boot into recovery it kept going to a screen with a little android guy lying on his back with a red triangle!!! I tried six times.
I got frustrated and just updated back to 4.4.2 and have been dealing with it. I am still rooted and have been able to remove my bloatware and other things you need root access for.
Any thoughts or help as to how I can install the CM11 rom?? I am happy running NovaLauncher and using DynamicNotifications to approximate it but really want to try out CM11.
Cheers and thanks!
Lucky there is no way to root on 4.4.2 yet or atleast no Recovery's yet it could be worse you're atleast rooted and it didn't brick your phone

Did you actually try flashing a recovery first? Just installing ROM manager won't install the custom recovery needed to flash ROMs. You have to do that step as well.

LG blocked the Loki exploit with 4.4.2 so you can't flash recoveries currently. You'd have to flash back to 4.2.2 to do that. Which if you want custom ROMs now its going to have to be done sooner or later. Which carrier and model number do you have? If you have an international D802 the above post by @zekurosu will work for you, otherwise don't use that one. You're gonna have to find the method for your model number.
My first guess was that you missed the flashing the custom recovery step, which people above me have already helped ya out on. For being new to Android you did fairly well, you just missed that one step.
Good luck!

I have an ATT D800 running 4.4.2. I can't decide whether its worth it to flash back to 4.2.2 to try again. Pretty happy with NovaLauncher + widgetlocke and fairly closely approximates what I am looking for.
For what its worth, I was in 4.2.2 when I tried the first time and failed. I think mackster is right, I didn't flash the custom recovery. I basically flashed back to 4.2.2->rooted->tried to boot into recovery (OVER and OVER) then gave up and upgraded back to 4.4.2.
Thanks for all the help. At least I now have a rooted phone and have been able to do some cool stuff with that. My goal is to get nexus 5 software in an LG G2 body (battery, camera, etc)
@android_nashville There's a way to have the best of both worlds. You can flash back to 4.2.2 (10d preferably) root, flash a custom recovery with Flashify or FreeGee. Both available on the play store. Then actually update to 4.4.2 following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483043. Eventually, if you want to flash custom ROMs you're going to have flash back to 4.2.2 and do this process regardless. The 4.4 aboot image (bootloader) can't be bypassed with Loki. Its been blocked. But some brilliant devs basically found out they can make a hybrid setup, with the 4.2.2 aboot, and everything else 4.4.2. This way you can have the ability to flash custom recovery, kernels and ROMs.

[Q] switching between lollipop roms

Hi, my g2 is running stock lollipop. If I want to try an aosp lollipop based rom I just need to wipe the old system and flash the new one? I do not have to flash any other stuff life "back to kk" or be worried about the sensors or modem, or recoveries am I right?
anyone?
no sir, if you are on stock Lollipop you are not clear to flash any ROM's, do you have a custom recovery?
Apologies, as I have not tried the OTA lollipop....how is it? Worth trying in place of a constantly rebooting CM12-based phone?
You will need to be running a 4.3 bootloader before flashing the Lollipop ROM's, so you will need to take some steps to downgrade.

Scroll down to the end of second post. There are files, like i said above. I don't know this will flash everything correctly, without any brick, but i will try it, sounds safe.
Patch return KK droidh
Yes, if your'e on stock based 5.0.2 or cm 12.1, flash PATCH RETURN KK DROIDTH and DONT FORGET to then reboot to recovery - then you will be able to flash KK rom.
Try it yourself you will learn the difference.
Rly worth it? Lp is not bad at all..
