Just got a note 3.
Wanted to install Cyanogemmod.
Seemed to go ok, everything went well but the s-pen wasnt responsive at all, so i rebooted phone.
S-pen became responsive but i lost connectivity and my phone can no longer make phone calls or send text messages.
It keeps saying "Searching for service", i have reinstalled Cyanogenmod again but still same problem.
I dont know what to do.

I bet you have not tried to flash a compatible custom kernel.
If your phone is an N9005 then flash this kernel below:
http://whatever.host-base.de/kernel/hlte/custom-n3-clean-0.98-eur.zip
If all else fails, why not flash a non-experimental Kitkat 4.4.2
TW based full feature custom rom. (There are so many good ones)
Good luck!
Hello, thankyou for your reply

HI, in dialer if you wite this code *#06# have you the same IMEI write behind your battery ?
have you make backup before ?
I experienced the exact same problem.
1. settings > about phone > status
Do you still have an IMEI listed? If yes, we must first backup your EFS, FSG, FSC partitions. Use EFSBackup tool from this thread and save backup somewhere securely.
2. Flash back to stock
If you were still on 4.3 flash 4.3 in order to keep the unlocked bootloader. Else flash 4.4 stock. Only flash the correct firmware from this list. You can figure out which device you have by using the Device Info feature of EFSBackup
This fixed the problem for me. Do not flash anything BEFORE making a backup of EFS, FSC, and FSC partitions. If you lose those you lose your IMEI, in that case it's pretty much finished.
Report back here with progress.

OK I understand you still have IMEI?
Do not flash anything at the moment. We MUST first backup efs, fsc, and fsg blocks.
If the phone was only on 4.3 stock when you bought and and you have only flashed CM on it the bootloader is still 4.3
The bootloader is only upgraded when you flash 4.4 kitkat STOCK ROM. CM does not touch your bootloader.
What is the problem with EFSBackup? Did you enable root access for apps AND adb in the developer options menu?
I say again do not flash anything before we can get these backups. We can still fix the phone ATM.
Thankyou for trying to help me.

Assuming you have CM running do this:
Settings > About Phone > Build Number.
Tap the Build Number section 7 times in a row. A small message will pop up that says "You are now a developer".
Return to the settings menu. You will now see there's a new menu at the bottom called "Developer options". Enter that menu and scroll down to the section "DEBUGGING". Tap on "USB debugging" to enable it. A small window will pop up that asks you again if you want to enable debugging. Tap "OK".
If the phone was not yet connected with a USB cable to your computer do that now. After a few seconds a window will appear that display your computers authentication ID. It will ask you to allow access for that computer ID. Check the box that says something like "Do not ask again for this computer" and then tap "Allow" or "OK" (can't remember what it says).
Now scroll up a little bit in the Developer options menu until you see "Root access". It should currently say only "Apps". Tap the menu and select "Apps and ADB" from the popup.
When all that is done start EFSBackup again. It auto-detects if you did everything correctly as written here. Report back here with your progress.
Thankyou for helping me, i got through it, but now in EFS Professional i get this error

What firmware, modem, rom are you using? Most likely is the modem causing it.
I bought it from eBay but i'm sure those things have not been tampered with.
It is locked onto UK's three mobile network.
It's on I9505XXUBMEA

The modem doesn't allow to access the service menu. You need XXUAME2 or older modem to get access to service menu.
This thread has all modems available to download.
As for the phone being carrier-locked, I'm not sure how to solve that. All phone sold in my country are unlocked.
so, i cant unlock the phone via the servicemode then?
and since it's carrier locked, i can't downgrade the modem? or can i?

You can downgrade the modem. This can be done by downloading modem from the thread I told you, and flashing it through Odin.
Edit: Be sure to follow the instructions on how to properly flash modem.
changing the modem will not affect the carrier lock will it?
I'm worried I might not be able to use any sim after changing the modem XD

If you're scared, you can always do a full system backup using custom recovery. If any problem occurs, just restore the backup.
Also, I just realized i can't find the settings to enable debugging on my S4
Can i still use customer recovery, my phone's not rooted and it boots with the three mobile logo

Custom recovery does NOT need root. It replaces the stock recovery of the phone. Same goes for modem.
Did you have developer options at your settings? If not, go to settings>about device. Press the 'Build Number' 7 or 8 times. (Cannot remember exactly how many times). The developer option will then be available.
yeah, just figured it out. ok i'm going to try it now using ME2 like you said... hopefully nothing bad happens

I have used the search function, but fear is killing me.
wherever I go, I find that the flashing process requires that the phone is unlocked.
can you please let me know how to go about it?
I downloaded the 02 modem firmware now. and Odin, but can't go any further
Hello, sorry to bring back this thread, but I have a weird problem.
I tried every possibility and variants of this unlock method (*#0011#) but nothing changes. It still asks for the network code.
I flashed a ME2 modem, and same thing ..

Hi! :crying:
I had the bad idea to use this software (EFS by BORIS.X.1 ) and I didn't see the warning at the END of the presentation of the soft...
I clicked on "backup EFS". The phone reboots straight away. (I thought it was maybe normal).
I clicked on "backup NVRAM". The phone reboots again.
Actually, since that, my phone is almost dead. I could boot but after a few second I got a reboot. --> bootloop.
I did a hard reset via the Android recovery. I reflashed my VEGA ROM (packed with the other missing files from the original stock ROM, so I guess it's full wipe anyway).
I did it many times. Nothing changed. On the top of that I can not access to my WIFI, 3G, on voice (SIM NOT FOUND).
I don't know what to do anymore. I have a MI7 rooter 0x0 phone and I would like to keep it so!!
Please help me since I just bought that phone and spent all the day before to manage the URDLV properly.

Your EFS is corrupted by the sounds of it, can you check settings > general > about device and see if your baseband says "Unknown"? If so then...
Only guarantee to unbrick and get your baseband back properly (without EFS back up) is using a custom recovery (tripping KNOX) and using This - used it myself and it does work - But it only works on the N9005
Aside from that, I'm not 100% sure myself without an EFS backup as to how to fix..Good luck

Thank you. Yes, I know that tip but, before making that step, I want to be sure this is only the EFS :
That's the thing! I can't use my phone and access to the menu "state of the phone". It always reboots before. I have also a error message telling "the process SYSTEM doesn't respond. Do you want to terminate it ?" And most of my softs just crash, even contact. I can't dial on my phone!!
Can we say it's only a EFS problem ? In which proportion the soft I used would have damage my phone ??
Thanks

I was messing around with custom kernels, constant rebooting every 60seconds. Managed to check my baseband which said unknown, so went into TWRP and flashed the EFS fix and it booted straight up, baseband back, 3G signal etc
The good thing would be to get an adaptation of this script for Odin !!
i had the efs issue yesterday, exactly as described.
was playing with custom kernels, phone suddenly rebooted and baseband was gone.
i restored mine from a twrp backup.

Unless we learn more about what that program was trying to do (presumably from the author of the program?) the only other FACT that we know is that writing a custom recovery is GUARANTEED to trip your knox flag; just writing your original Samsung ROM has a good chance to NOT trip knox; if you apply the first then you can never try the 2nd and keep knox, while if you apply the 2nd method and it does not work you still can use the 2nd or something else.

To have some script that can be written in Odin would be nice - as long as it does not trip knox. Something which might be a little more complex than it sounds.
Well Asansam can do it with just a rooted device, no need for custom recovery.
So find one with an Asansam box, and just run the "Restore PB" command.

Greetings, So far I dug as far as I could in google. But still no luck. My 4.3 update on the GS4 gut buggy, So I thought I'd install back to 4.2.2 firmware using odin. Normally it succeeded. But when I inserted my Sim card, I couldn't make phone calls. Says not registered on Network. And my IMEI stated 0004...something. To save time I didn't thought of downloading the original firmware. So, I thought I could benefit from my mother's GS4 and use it's firmware unaware of the dangers. So I backed up system files from my mother's GS4 and restored it on my phone using TWRP. It booted and everything except there's completely no signal. Baseband is now UNKOWN and the IMEI is Null. I downloaded the stock firmware according to my mom's Baseband, but still no luck. I really need help. I'm beginning to lose faith in my phone and I'm afraid I'm gonna pay 40$ to fix it. I know nothing is impossible with you guys, so you are my last hope. PEACE!
You SHOULD NOT have downgraded your baseband like that, and when you did, and the trouble started, you should have searched first for solutions before trying to restore it from another device!
Anyway, now, you should flash the latest 4.3 modem or the 4.3 modem you had before, preferably flash the whole 4.3 rom again, the exact same version you had before, or the latest one, and your phone should live again properly!

You cannot downgrade it to 4.2.2, you must solve your issue over 4.3. Download your 4.3 rom o a newer rom from sammobile and flash it using odin 3.09 if you have i9505, or 3.07 of you have i9500.

I have a similar issue, it started when I put my S4 in flight mode, then when the plane landed I turn it off and since then I have no signal, IMEI NULL and when dialing *#1234# no CP information, only AP and CSC.
I have been digging and rooted the phone and tried with Galaxsim but nothing, then the IMEI null fix but nothing (once I applied this one the cell phone stuck in SAMSUNG icon at boot processs).
So I installed again stock firmware and it's back to the original status, no signal, no IMEI, etc... worrking only with wifi.
Please give me a hand on this. I also have GT-I9500

well try flashing a 4.3 modem only, when you try to downgrade you get imei 0047, then you flash the latest modem o 4.3 modem and everything its ok...
try with MG9 or MK1 modem...
Same thing happened to me 2 days before. I was using it on Airplane mode for almost 12 days and suddenly when I switched it to network it does not detect sim card. Later i found IMEI is null, Baseband unknown and serial number is messed up. I never rooted my phone. I tried to flash stock firmware 4.3 with odin still no luck.
Might go to repair shop..Just how my efs folder is damaged or anything else screwed up my imei and baseband..
Modders your help is appreciated..

I installed the latest modem of 4.3, Still no luck. I think this thing can't be fixed. I'm afraid I'm gonna pay 40$.
Guys who are having this problem try this:
What is needed
-A computer with ADB
-USB Cord for phone
-Your phone (of course lol)
What to do to possibly fix issue.
1. Make sure your phone's debugging is activated.
-If not go to Settings -> Developer Options -> Click "USB debugging"
2. Plug phone into computer (Make sure drivers are installed for adb to connect to your phone)
3. Open command promt and go to where adb is located
-(use "cd" (without quotations) to change directories i.e "cd c:\adb\" will take you to the directory needed)
4. Once you're in the same directory as the adb.exe file is type this
- adb reboot nvrestore
This will reboot your phone and you should see a quick flash on the screen stating in the top left in blue about restoring the nv
Kewl's suggestion. Link :http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/topic/2592-last-attempt-to-fix-stuck-in-roaming-mode-for-the-sgs3/
I didn't try it. I'll install ADB then test it. I bet your connection is faster than mine, so try it first and get back to this post if it worked.

I think I'm getting to the surface, I just need to know how to retrieve your original IMEI since your original efs is deleted. If you guys please help me and when everything is successful, I'll make a step by step guide on what I did.
My worst nightmare came true, I sent my S4 to Samsung, the price got high as 200$. I asked the reason why, they said that the EFS file is the most sensitive file in the phone, it what makes it a phone anyways. They also said that they will hook it on a box or something like that that costs about 7000$. That's a shocker. If you ask me what I'm going to do with my S4, I'll have to pay the price, and sell it for 400$ Until the s5 is announced, I'll close the price gap. Sorry for the bad news :/
My phone IMEI is correct i am only having the network not registered error can this command solve my device issue.

Hey guys just made this for one and all !
Backup & Restore EFS on your OnePlus One through ADB!
No TWRP Recovery needed!
UPDATED : MAY 1, 2018
YOUR PHONE MUST BE ROOTED
To Backup,
First you need to enable USB Debigging mode by checking Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging. If Developer Options is not found, go to Settings -> About Phone and tap the build number rapidly 6-7 times till a toast comes up saying 'You're now a developer' (or something like 'Developer Options is enabled'). Go back. Voila! You see 'Developer Options' above About Phone in settings. - Thanks to @Heisenberg for notifying!
Just download the attachment, extract it to a folder, connect your phone to PC through ADB, double click on 'BACKUP EFS.bat'. When it says 'Press any key...' just press any key on your keyboard! You'll see 'modemst1.bin' & 'modemst2.bin' files in the same folder where you extracted the ZIP, make more copies and backup of it! That's your EFS!
DONE!
To Restore,
Connect your phone to PC through ADB, place your 'modemst1.bin' & 'modemst2.bin' in the folder where you extracted the attachment (it should be there if you never moved it after backing up) and double click on 'RESTORE EFS.bat'.
DONE!
Hope this helps someone
Great idea. You might want to mention that you need to go into Settings/Developer Options and enable usb/adb debugging first, and to enable Developer Options you need to go into Settings/About Phone and click on Build Number seven or eight times. Also, the screen must be on and phone unlocked for adb to work.

Hey there, do you have any idea if this would work for a secondary from running via multirom? My primary rom COS12 is fine, but my secondary rom (CM11S) is showing with an unknown IMEI and baseband and has no wifi/signal etc. I have tried flashing the CM11s modem again on the primary rom but no luck.
Did you try it?

Never tried dual booting ROMs... (you're talking about that right?). See, as far as the mmc blocks for EFS partition are same, backup and restore should work. Find out what block contains EFS (if it's different for different ROMs while dual booting) and edit my code in BACKUP EFS.bat and RESTORE EFS.bat . You'll figure out it's easy!

Thanks for replying, I ended up trying a good old dirty flash and it seems to have restored the secondary rom's baseband and IMEI so its seems to have fixed it. I flashed another ROM (liquid smooth 4.4.4) via multirom and its working as well, so everything seems to be back to normal.
Does this backup everything on the phone ? Including home screen widgets, apps, images, WiFi settings etc ?

You serious? Please do your homework and learn what an EFS partition is.
Tried to backup my EFS partition using this tool but my computer just hangs at: "Waiting for OnePlus One..."
Any idea how to correct this?
@Paresh Kalinani, One-Click or Double Click
nice job automating things for lazy ones thanks
Thanks a lot bro
I have 4 questions:
Whats the difference between your toolkit and others like "bacon root toolkit" ?
Will the efs backup still work, when i unlock the bootloader (wipes data)
Is this open source?
Does it matter what firmware your phone is?

I have 4 answers:
Dunno about bacon root toolkit, but from the name I guess it would be a toolkit for rooting, unlocking boot loader, flashing ROMs/Kernels, etc. (MAYBE efs backup too).
Yes it will work even if you unlock the boot loader. Why would you backup when you're not unlocking it!
Yes this is open source.
It doesn't matter on which firmware the phone is.

I meant after unlocking the bootloader which wipes all data, will the backup still be able to restore my phone data. this tool should be able to backup everything (contacts, settings, messages, apps and savefiles, etc...) and doesn't need to be rooted first right?

Unfortunately not. This tool will only backup and restore the EFS files from your phone. This tool is very useful if you ever lost your imei.....but only if you used it to back it up before you lost your imei.

i tried doing that. still no files.
I tried several more times, but never got a connection. I use TWRP for efs backup now.
My problems starts after i flash SlimSaber over the Oxygen OS
Somehow it erase the EFS
Download the package here https://mega.co.nz/#!c0c1lZ7L!ADILW66W-aG0TNcuDzLd13pK6hjcq7omJhPxMiXUjZo
My case : NO WIFI, NO IMEI, AND NO SIGNAL. And on CM11S (install it via fastboot), and rooted + supersu
I did erase the modemst1, modemst2 and the persist. But still it didn't fix it
And i did try to run some command in the TWRP's terminal, but still not fix
What i did :
1. Download the packages
2. Open CMD and type : (Your phone is still on, and on the homescreen)
adb shell
su
setprop sys.usb.config diag,adb
3. Go to Device Manager, and see A0001 on the Other Devices
4. Right click on it and select Update Driver --> Browse blablabla --> Let me pick blablabla --> Show all devices and next --> Have Disk --> Browse --> Now, go to the downloaded Packages, and see Driver --> Select your OS (Win x64 or x86), in my case it's Win x64. Select Select and Install it anyway
5. Now, you'll see it named HTC Modem, now right click on it, but i forgot which tab that i click to see the COMx part..
6. Now, go to QPST folder, and rename QPST 2.7.411.msi to QPST.2.7.411.msi. And now, open Setup.exe
7. Go to Program FIles(x86), open Qualcomm/QPST/bin/QPSTConfig.exe
8. Now, on the QPST App, select Ports tab --> Add New Ports --> Uncheck Show Serial and USB blablabla. Now, your "modem" will shows there. Make sure that it's the same with COMx in the properties --> Ok
9. Now, press Start Clients --> Restore --> Browse the QCN files on the Downloaded Packages files. And press Start
10. After it "stuck" in 100%, unplug your phone and restart it
11. a) If you have Wifi and Signal, you're done !
b) If you still don't have wifi (Like mine) BUT on About Phone --> Status, the signal shows some number of dBm and ASU ;
To Fix the Signal :
1. Flash the modem that included in the Downloaded Packages
2. Now check
To Fix the Wifi :
Well, this one i found it by myself (i think)
1. Some says that you need to flash ColorOS in order to make it work. But since i don't have ColorOS because of slow download speed, i flash the Hydrogen OS instead
2. I don't know why but the Wifi suddenly work
Now, you should be able to use the Wifi and Mobile Data, and you can flash another ROM
Thanks to @rombdeta for providing the steps and the original thread
Press thanks if it helped you
I was one who messed up with my efs partition and went to no wifi no signal no network
Mine that time i followed almost all procedures from xda but no luck finally i came to rombdeta thread but i actually can't understand his procedure properly tried but no luck
Finally went to service center they flashed oxygen os and everything was came back again they gave me back my phone on the same day but expenses from my home town to service center was 1500 rupees what the f....... K( personally i also tried several times oxygen os but don't know it not worked)

Well, glad I found this thread. I'm going to try these next. I flashed it back to stock in hopes that would fix my problem. But still got a case of the reboots and a shady IMEI. Man.. Why did I not back up my efs!!! Ugh.. So one a good note, this is fixable, right? Or am I gonna have to go ahead and get the OP2? My OP1 is not even a yr old I should be able to get it repaired, right?

Thanks for the reply. Im busy right now but will try this later. I was worried I had a brick on my hands. So did you lose 4g and if you flash ROMs do you have to apply the fix every time?
I'm trying your method to get back my imei #. I tried every other method in the forum but no gain. Please help me I'm unable to install the drivers. When trying to install driver It says " The specified location does not contain information about your hardware". Please please please help me.
Thanks
Edit:
I managed to install the drivers on windows 10 and restored the imei but now I'm getting only 3g not networks when selecting 2g or 4g. I flashed the XNPH44S-modem from TWRP also. But still no 2g/LTE
Please help.
Worked for me thanks!!!!
It worked me Mate ... Thank You So much ... I recovered my IMEI and Signal is working fine too
fixed mine by just flashing color os on fastboot
Can I fix IMEI on a official rom?? I don't have IMEI on my official rom but my sim slot works and my wi-fi works. should I flash the XNPH44S-modem?
please I really want to get my phone to working again. I am so close!
