[Q] problem with bootanimations not working on gs5 - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys after rooting my ( gs5 sm-g900i ) I've been trying to install custom boot logos but ain't had much luck so far and this was using the bootanimation4u method ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063280 ) I've installed and flashed everything from the links provided and tried following instructions to a t am I possibly doing something wrong or is there a new method of doing this?
P.s I also apologize if there already is another thread that solves this but in my noob searching I wasn't able to find anything so mods please feel free to move this if need be.

As far as I know we are unable to change boot animations on the s5 because the method in that article creates them as a zip file but the new Samsung devices require a .qmg format for boot animations.

Hmm ok I thought it was possible from reading other articles as I have also tried two other methods from two other articles which I'll give links for

yeah upload what you have got then we can debug it ourselves, will make it easier than trying to tell you what to do.
Try clearning cache and data in recovery before installing
im uploading now yes i edited the boot.img using the sdk version and used several bits from the desire honeycomb port not sure if its right at all and haven't changed the modules yet. If im completely heading in the wrong direction please inform me and i will give up
Here is my original attempt i've made several edits since but none have worked so here http://www.mediafire.com/file/vcn45ihdfgcjmhg/honeycomb.zip
right, what you have uploaded looks to me like its purely a Desire rom, you have not changed anything at all... no wonder its not booting!

[Q] Language issue?! please help..

Hi,
I really need an Arabic support to my milestone 2 device. I've searched the net for a solution with no result, it might be due to the fact that milestone 2 hasn't been officially released in the middle east!!
I'm quite sure it's possible because milestone 1, Defy and Atrix users have had a solution for this issue, then why not me?
Please guys any help would be appreciated, I'm fed up with this!
I'm running the latest firmware 2.2.2
Thanks in advance!.

search this forum. somebody else has asked a similar question needing arabic support. if im not mistaken there is no arabic support. the only way will be to write one yourself. as i said, search the forum and you will find ur answer
EDIT: there's a reason a thread has been created for general questions. had you looked through that thread there wouldnt be a need to create a new thread on this. refer to this thread for your answer.

We would have all languages if we would have a Cyanogenmod ROM but we haven't at this moment. You can eventually install More Locale app from market, and add your locale. After that you will get your language in all apps that support it.

Just install the "More Locale" app from the Android Market, and add your (Arabic) locale in this app. After that all installed apps will recognize your system locale as the Arabic and automatically will be translated to this language if support it. Just try and see results.
agent008my, mkmck or anyone can help, if you could guide me through this?
I've found this generic Arabic files for android 2.2 & 2.3
but I don't know if I can apply them to milestone 2 and how? because I'm no expert in milestone 2 firmware, especially that Arabic is shown in my device but the problem is that it's not connected letters, so there is a little hope here
here is the link please check it out:

the steps to the link there is pretty straight forward. you have to make sure your phone is rooted though. to root your phone, check through the android development section of this MS2 forum and you should be able to root your phone then. read carefully, and then read again before you attempt a root. once rooted, download root explorer or something similar and you should be able to follow the steps in that blog pretty easily
edit: you should be able to search through all the extension files stated (right from checking if your ROM is deodexed to modding the system/framework extensions) in that blog after you have rooted your phone via root explorer or similar
always always perform a nandroid backup before you start rooting your phone or installing the patch. you can learn more about nandroid backups and similar android terminology and rooting through these threads:

I installed Root explorer and before rooting I've explored the Framework. I found a framework with odex extension which make it not suitable for the method the guy mentioned.
So my question here, is deodexing the rom a possible thing for a basic user (I've read it's a complicated method), or do you advice me not to do it? -to be able to apply the files-
Thanks very much!.

to be very honest with you, here is my understanding on deodexing:
Apk files have respective odexes that devs use to supposedly save space. Deodexing means you convert it back to a .dex file and put it back inside the apk. This allows you to easily replace files (not having to worry about odexes), but the main point was to deodex services.jar so that you can change all text to different colors (such as the clock color to white) and to deodex services.jar, you need to deodex everything.
to be honest i know nothing about deodexing or how difficult it is to carry out. however, i did take the liberty of searching some up for you, and there is a tutorial on this forum about deodexing. its very complete and it should be able to help you.

[Q] Best method to root 6.2.1 if we have not done it prior

I have not rooted prior to 6.2.1 but really want the android market so now I must root. I have a few questions;
I keep seeing something about having to download root explorer from the amazon market to use the new method, would es file explorer work?
Sorry if I'm way off base on any or all of this, I've never rooted anything
I'm tech savvy so i could do it if i had a definitive list of all the progams needed and preferably a video tut of the process. Im seeing a few different ways so im confused as to which way i need to do it. Could someone please point me in the right direction ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
You seem to have the ability to read and write the English language why don't you go over to the thread where this is being discussed and read the information that is offered and make a decision.
There are tons of threads on this very topic as this is a very hot topic...And in each thread it will tell u what u need to root and etc....Just look up how to root 6.2.1
i hope this helps......

[Q] Help switching to f2fs format.

Hello guys, I have been going crazy reading links and such trying to figure out how
To convert my 2012 nexus 7 to this new file format and have not been successful at all.
I have searched so please don't use that as your answer. I am trying to find an easy way that
A two year old could follow. I have found were to get the ROMs so that's not a problem. It is just trying to convert.
Is there something someone has put together like a flashable version? Any help would be great!! Thanks in advance.
Also let me have your thoughts . If it really makes a difference switching to this... Thanks..

The most simplest way....and I mean simple, is to install multirom via play store. Once you boot into recovery, you click on one button and you're done. Mulitrom is awesome. If you don't know what it is, it basically dual or in my case triple boots into your system.I have 3 of the top ROMs all running f2fs and ilove it.
Good luck

problem rooting S5369

HI guys, I was looking at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085390 about rooting the S5360 (I have a s5369) but when I try to flash the update included in the thread I get an error, screenshot attached (the error says E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7) Installation aborted)
Any idea?
Try this one instead, otherwise I will edit the updater-script of your package to make it compatible with your model. I think that you will able to install GT-S5360 ROMs on it, but can you give me technical details about your phone ?
Regards
Hi thank you for that. I tried your link but I don't seem to be able to download anything from there, it's just an empty blank page (not sure if the mega protocol isn't supported or what). If you could put it elsewhere I'll download and try it.
What technical details would you like me to give you? ANdroid version etc? GT-S5369, android 2.3.6, kernel 2.6.35.7
Let me know if you need anything else
thank you for your help

Here's an another link ! I want some informations about the processor ect .. Just to check if the specs are the same with the GT-S5360 model. You're welcome !
Thanks mate, unfortunately even that link doesn't work, the page times out (tried yesterday and today with same result in different browsers). As for more details, I downloaded CPU-z and took some screenshots, attached, hopefully that will help you, let me know if you need more:
You will able to install normally GT-S5360 roms, they have the same specs. I joined the root access enable ZIP package. If I helped you, don't hesitate to use the little button below or if you need something else tell me !
thanks for the file, but if that's the same as the one found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085390 then I tried it already and my phone doesn't like it, I posted the error message at the beginning of the thread

Oops sorry ! Here's the fixed one.
Brilliant, thanks. The installation of the new file was successful, no errors and now I have superuser, so presumably the phone is now rooted.
Thanks for your help. In terms of android version, do you know where I can find a list of stable versions I can install? I checked cyanogen mod but I couldn't find my model
thanks

Yes, you're now rooted ! Check the GT-S5360 development subforum and you will find a lot of ROMs, but for CyanogenMod, every ported version (7,9,11) has its specific bugs and you will need to choose the one which suits you. If you need any help, just mention me on your post ! Regards.
Fab, thank you very much for all your help, much appreciated.
