Noises Coming From My Phone?? Help? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently got the galaxy s5 and for some reason when my phone is sitting by itself it will make a noise as if I was calling someone. It's the tone you hear when you call a person and wait for them to answer and it will sound only once and do it again in about 5 to 10 minutes. I read around forums but they found that it was the NFC making their phone make strange noises. I turned NFC off and to no avail. Any ideas??:crying:

That's strange did you try a factory reset? I had my motion settings ticked, so that it would make a call if rotated, that kept screwing me being in my pocket. Try shutting all your air gestures and motions off

Weird noise before call

Hey.
I just got this phone, one thing I noticed when the phone is restarted and a call is made, there is a weird noise before you actually hear the tone......
I think it only happens when you reboot the phone....
Anyone know whats wrong?
Yea, problem most likely between the ears. There is no off hook tone.
I think it's white noise.

packet transfer sounds....... depending on where you are and how you are connecting to the network these residual sounds may or may not be buffered out, they do not affect over all performance once connection is made.......not on an issue but good ears to notice

Word on the street is the boys in blue are monitoring conversations about anything to do with the word fro-yo as little as it may seem as it is nearly impossible to be mentioned in all usa galaxy s phones, little or less received on the operators end by 2012, o and on a lighter note gators *****es better be wearing jimmy's!

The microphone is also really low. people can't hear me I use to be able (Gnexus) to set the phone down and talk with it on the computer table next to me but now they can't hear me.

Standard 'is this a hardware problem?' test:
1. If you are on a custom ROM, flash completely back to stock and retest.
2. If you are already on stock, backup all your data and factory reset. Even better, completely wipe the phone and re-install stock and retest.
3. If the issue still occurs, the issue is most likely with the hardware. If the issue no longer occurs, then it was a software problem.
4. If I understand this reply correctly, you have already received a replacement device and the issue still occurs. In this case, you happen to be very unlucky.
As for the Nexus 4 in general, I can only speak anecdotally. I don't have the issue on the seven Nexus 4 devices I've tested: two of my own, three from coworkers/friends who also own the device, and two test devices.

Since the issue only happens during Skype calls and not while using the standard calling function, I would blame this issue on VOIP quality: either your latency is high, Skype is having quality issues, or some combination of the two. I have issues with Skype call quality on both my phone and my PC, and the issues are largely to do with Skype throttling the call bandwidth.
what about my mic issue the sounds very low. is there a way to change the gain on the microphone? I always use my phone by calling 1 of my friends I'm placing the phone beside my desk as I speak with them they can't hear me with this new phone they were able to perfectly hear me with the galaxy Nexus.

Have you had anybody else report echoing? If not I would think it is feedback on her end causing the echoing

Try disabling noise reduction in call settings... echoing has been a problem since the s2 sometimes disabling noise reduction helps or turn down volume on your phone.

I have made a lot of test :
Disable noise cancellation (Still echoing)
Change SIM card (Still echoing)
Reset the phone (Same problem)
Also when I plug a pair of headphone with a mic, Ive got no problem but when I remove it, the echoing are coming back
Did I have to try something else or its a hardware problem?
PS: everybody who im talking with hear the ecgo of her voice

i agree, some of original covers also cause issues. I have both original samsung s-view flip cover (bought @ INR 22XX/- ) and i had same issues and my friend have problem with original backcover comes with phone. we showed the problem in service centre and changed the back cover for my friend within warranty. now its ok for my friend.
for me, i stopped using that s-view cover and used the original one comes with phone and now ok for me.

Hi,
I have exactly the same echo problem. Did you solve the problem?
I just started experiencing the same thing after flashing 4.4. Never had this problem and now the problem doesn't even get fixed when I went back to 4.3 or 4.2.2. No idea how to fix it, I have full wiped each time and tested on the clean rom so it can' t have anything to do with my apps. I also removed the back cover and case to test that theory but nothing helped. I hear a static and my own voice echoing. I don't think the other person hears the echo though. Does anyone have a solution?
I have also tried flashing different modems but that didn't solve the issue.
Problem solved!!!
I found the problem. i was experiencing the same problem, the other caller was hearing an echoe. First i thought it was the s-view cover but no. if the microphone is in any way covered it makes an echoe so do not cover it, and for the answer to your questions just clean the microphone hole using a needle. Now it works perfectly. Have fun Guys!!!

I have the echo effect of my voice when someone calls me. I use a bluetooth earpiece so the phone mic is not the problem. I've thied three different bluetooth headsets and all of them have the echo effect for my voice (the other side doesn't hear it).
I did put on a Samsung Qi charging cover but I can't remember if the echo effect started before or after I put on the Samsung Qi enabled cover. first i want to test the unchecking the noise reduction box to see if that works, if not then I'll replace the back cover to see if that is the issue.
I'm skeptical about the back cover being the problem, however, because it only happens when someone calls me. For example, my daughter called me and I could hear my voice in the echo. I asked her to hang up and try again. Again I could hear the echo. So I had her hang up and I called her. No more echo. Neither have I heard the echo on any other calls I make, but it is on all the calls I receive.

I have exactly the same problem with my 2 new galaxy S4 , did you fix it?

Urgent help with galaxy s4

Hey guys this thing thats been happening to me is absulotely mind boggling and if anyone can resolve this it would be greatly appreciated. it bugs me like theres no tomorrow.
so heres the issue.
i have a samsung galaxy s4 with all the latest updates provided Android Version 4.2.2
when im travelling along in the car or even randomly seated i would receive a call or even make a call and place my phone on loudspeaker now the funny thing here is that the phone after maybe 10-20 seconds will automatically switch back to normal speaker and it annoys me so i have to put it back on loudspeaker mode
ive had the occasional scene where it still showed that loudspeaker was activated but the caller was coming through the normal speaker so it forces me to tap loudspeaker to de-activate it and then tap it again to activate only to realise not long after it automatically switched back to the normal speaker all over again.
NOTE: the phone is laying flat on my lap or standing infront of me.
has anyone had this issue before and is there some sort of fix for it
PLEASE HELPPP !!!

Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
So I have found that the only way I can get the loudspeaker to stay on is too keep the screen on after a few fiddling here in there I need to know how to force screen on when it on loudspeaker

[Q] Interesting Incoming Phone Call Screen...

I recently performed a factory reset on my non-rooted Note 3. Somehow between all the app killers I had and using the Galaxy Gear, it kept freezing, I kept having to do battery pulls to get anywhere. I also rooted and downloaded null_ ROM version 11 on my Gear, if that bears any significance.. today I was in the middle of sending someone a text when I received an incoming call. but rather than the screen taking over everything and stopping whatever I was in the middle of doing, I got this minimized version which just popped up at the bottom of my screen. I thought maybe it had to do with Themer, so I uninstalled it, but got the same thing on another incoming call. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you think it has to do with the Galaxy Gear? (even though bluetooth was powered off and the gear powered off at the time this call was made.) or did I just randomly get a lucky break?
In the call settings you have checked the incoming call popup notification....If you don't like it just uncheck it.
