I was curious what bluetooth headset other Kaiser/Tytn II/Tilt owners are using.
I'm on the market looking for one and got recommended to buy the JawBone Aliph but the reviews of shody construction is turning me off to buying the first one.
So what bluetooth headsets are you using?
The BlueTooth I'm using in the number 4 incisor.
I believe this post is better suited for the Kaiser "Accessories" thread.
Jabra BT500
Jabra BT500 is a very comfortable, behind-the-ear headset that i have been using for a long time now.
Ultra Mini Bluetooth Headset here, it was cool 4 years ago...now it just sucks, looking at getting the Motorola S9's here.
I use & love my Sony S9.
Got it around X-mas from AT&T $95.00 - $30.00 mail in rebate
Pros:
Great for music. Stereo
Light & Comfortable
Battery last days with moderate to heavy use
Full controls on headset include answer, play, pause, volume up/down & fw/rev
Cons:
Mono Phone calls only
Because of design (wrap around back of head) uncomfortable to lay on back & listen to music, i.e weight bench
Damn i was wanting to use it while laying down ! (weight bench) that sucks...how is it to wear them around the chin (TWSS 'if you don't know it google it') ?
I was looking into getting the Jawbone but hearing some of the reviews and the overall reviews at amazon, it certainly is turning me off to it.
I'm thinking of going platronics since my moto H350 sucks hard.
I have the Blue Ant Z9i. IMHO, it is the best HS I've used to date.
jabra bt8040. It's pretty good but I wish the volume can be louder.

I second that! Great quality, very stable. Can be connected to two phones at the same time. Only drawback is volume, it sometimes autoadjusts just a bit too low, you can set it higher manually.
But overall it's great. It remembers 8 pairings, so I can use it with my laptop, my personal mobile (SE K550) and my business phone (TyTN II) without repairing it every time. Voice dialing only works with the last paired device but picking up calls from two phones that are connected to it at once, works.
It also has A2DP profile support, so listening to music with it is nearly "OK". Much better anyway than just directing sound to the headset with the normal profile (handsfree or headset, can't remember).
Another vote for the Moto S9
I've gone through several, but the Moto S9 is the one I settled with. Since I listen to music on a regular basis, these were a no brainer. What hooked me on them wasn't the GREAT sound quality; it was the fact that the person I was talking to could HEAR ME. The only negative is it plays in the left ear only on phone calls, but the volume is loud enough to compensate. Besides, your phone and most other BT headsets play in one ear only, so it's not that big a deal.
The best advice I can give is to purchase at a local retailer that will allow you to bring them back if they don't work for you. I purchased mine at Fry's Electronics and I went through 5 different ones before I settled on the S9s. Even if you pay a few dollars more over an online place, it will be worth it to get the ones you like.
Moto S9 rocks!
It's a bit expensive, but the result is great!

As I'm looking for a HS with which I can also listen to music: Would you recommend it, or is it just a mono device? If not: How is the sound quality with music?
i'd get this one

i got the blueant z9 for at home use, and the jabra bt8010 for outside use. the stereo headset is great
I've used :
Motorola H700
Plantronics Voyager 510
Sony Ericsson HBH-PV702
Motorola H700
- Rather decent headset but callers complain that my voice is rather hollow
- Compact sized
- Lost the unit before I can give a better review
Plantronics Voyager 510
- Best unit I've used, very clear quality but abit on the expensive side
- Rather bulky
- Son broke the unit after 1 year of usage *sob*
Sony Ericsson HBH-PV702
- Lightweight, cheap !
- Voice quality varies i.e using it currently with my Kaiser, can hear static and BUT when paired with my wife's Sony Ericsson W850i, voice quality is very good.
i'm currently using a Sony Ericsson HBH-608 Lightweight Akono Bluetooth Headset. Had it about 8 months, and its been brilliant, good sound quality, comfortable and battery lasts ages. Cheap too, got it off eBay
I've found the Plantronics 655 and the new 925 to work the best. Both deliver good quality sound to the user. Reasonably rich sound with plenty of volume. They also offer noise cancellation comparable to the JB units.
I would though go with the 925 over the 655. The 925 fits better in the ear and depending on taste is a bit easier to use.
My most important message is that these units deliver quality sound with good volume. I have found most headsets to sound tinny and to lack volume when used with the Tilt.
hello guys just wanted to share that shure have released a earbuds with mic that will work with android phone. they are called shure se115m the + model is for iphones and blackberry.
Thanks for sharing but they have been out for a while. Btw all the major iem manufacturers have them. Shure, westone, ue, and etymotic to name a few
How are the se115's for quality? I was looking at them and they are basically Shure's cheapest earbuds arent they? Saw them for 99.99 here in Canada.
Anyone have them and want to comment on how the sound is with an X10?

I have the SE115s (not the m + or whatever. just the earphones). I used to love the sound quality, but off late I've been spoilt by my Denon headphones so I use the Shure's when I want perfect isolation (and believe me it is perfect)
Totally worth the money btw
I wonder if its just me? but the stock earphones..when i press the sliver call button to take a call it doesnt work at all.
They are a great set of iems. I haven't tried the one with a mic though...
Just picked up a pair of the se115's. The se115m's were 10 dollars more and was almost gonna get them when i realized I can just plug these into the mic that came with the phone.
Very happy with these headphones. They block out everything else and sound really great. Thanks for the recommendations.
how good is the quality of the loudspeaker of the Samsung Focus for watching movies/videos and playing music? i have an HD2 that has a really crappy loudspeaker and i want to get on the Windows 7 band wagon, yeah i know there is the HTC Surround which is another option for me but im worried about all the problems the Surround has and my last Samsung phone was a Samsung i760 for Verizon and for 3 years never once had any problems with it until i went HD2 but i wana get into WP7 so im conflicted with the Focus and the Surround

Well...the Focus' speaker is louder than all other phones I've used but the problem is the speaker is on the backside. I usually have to cuff the speaker to get decent sound. But once cuffed, the sound is plentiful. The quality seems to be sufficient for movie watching.
I might get around to making a sound funnel for mine...some kind of shield that directs sound towards the front.
hahaha i have an HD2 right now and the speaker is in the back, since my days of the O2 Xda mini i had years ago to my samsung i760 im used to cuffing my hands to redirect the sound but if its loud and good quality i guess im ready to fork $349 to ATT on a retail unit

Yeah, they are priced at $350 online. And it says you have to go to the store to buy a phone without a service agreement. So be prepared to explain the deal to the sales associate because they will ring it up at $400. Once you explain the online bit to them, they will make an effort to check it out and find a way to adjust the price in-store. If you happen to get a contrary associate. Find another store or go back at a different time.
at $380 with tax il be happy to get it for that much and i hope they do sell it to me for that price
Personally, I find that going above 2/3 or 3/4 can degrade the sound quality coming from the speaker. Cuffing at about 22 works for me.

all hail cuffing
I get really good sound quality until about 25 or 28, but I only need it that loud when I'm in a busy place or the kids are playing in the same room as me

This post is mostly for people in Greece who have the Iconia and are looking for a headset. When I first got my Iconia, I tried it with a pair of generic earphones I had, but the sound volume was really really low. I tried it with a second and it was the same. So I looked around, trying to find something that worked and was well priced.
So, if you have had the same problem, the one that solved it for me was the simple Turbo-X Mic iME earphones , from Plaisio. They are only 7.90 € and really worth it, the volume and the sound quality are both very good, plus the ear bud is very comfortable. They are also directional, so there is not a lot of noise leak that could annoy others around you. The set also has a microphone and an adaptor for use with a pc.
V-Moda Bass Freq headphones are the best bang for the buck. $12 shipped on ebay and they deliver huge bass, great quality sound and manage to isolate outside noise incredibly well for basic bud headphones. I've owned about a half dozen pairs since i discovered them in 2007. Highly recommended if you're in to the bud style.
Skullcandy headphones are good too they have different tiers low end to high but there $20 low ends actually sound very good.
Sony also makes a very inexpensive earbud that has surprisingly good range and great bass while still sounding "transparent".
MDRE828LP is the model, and they are generally less than 20 dollars US, often less than 10.

in my opinion
the word "cheap" and "headphones" are a dangerous combo.
Sure - a pair of cheap headphones that happen to be louder then other cheap headphones might work for you - but for the price of a few cheap pair of headphones you can get something that will make you happy for many years.
Purchased a pair of Aerial7 tank midnight and I am amazed. I love loud industrial metal music, I crave loudness, and with my tanks plugged into my a500 I can not deal with more then half volume.
Sure, if you are playing loss crap quality mp3 rips of music, a discount pair might make you happy. But if you care about audio quality or actually listen to loss less audio formats, the difference between a generic pair of discount headphones and something with some actual quality is a night and day difference. Really, how many pairs of cheap throw away headphones have we all burned through? At least in my experience - I feel that money can be saved by purchasing something that will amaze you for years.
My current headphones: http://www.aerial7.com/product/tank/midnight/
I agree with entropy to a certain extent. I was able to find a pair of authentic Studio Beats for less than half price, and they blew my mind, definitely my main set....however, there is always room for some cheaper second strings.
If I don't want to have the large bulk of over-ear headphones, then I normally pull out my Kanen knockoffs. They have decent bass, good build quality...and fairly unique style (they are actually wooden). I got mine on sale for $3 (yes, three dollars including shipping to Canada), but even regular price they're less than five.
...apparently I can't yet post external links....try to figure out the url though
"triple W dot" focalprice DotCom /EP268X/Kanen_KM92_Wooden_Inear_Headphones.html
question:
Every time I useTuneIn,djradio or winamp i have sound on the headphones and the tab.
There is a manipulation to do to have only on the headphones?
sorry it's ok now
I don't have a tablet yet (considering buying the Iconia A500) but I figured I'd drop in and offer my thoughts on headphones
I personally have a pair of AKG K242HD's along with a pair of SoundMAGIC PL-30's. I use my 242's at home but wanted a pair of relatively cheap high quality earphones for travel and mobile usage. One thing you want to be careful of is that many of the high end headphones are designed for home and studio usage and so most mobile devices do not have enough power to run them at high volume. One of the cheaper sets such as the ones mentioned by entropy.of.avarice would probably be fine, but try to avoid headphones advertised for studio usage without hearing them first.
Personally I would recommend hifiheadphones.co.uk/sennheiser-cx300ii-precision-headphones-pink-cx-300ii-prodid-1136.html or hifiheadphones.co.uk/soundmagic-pl30-inear-sound-isolating-earphones-in-white-prodid-2073.html. Both retail for around £30 and are perfectly fine for someone looking to buy their first pair of decent headphones. One thing you'll want to watch out for is that there were a lot of fake CX300's around, so make sure if you buy them you buy from a reputable retailer.
Finally, if you have the money to spare you can also byu a headphone amplifier such as the iBasso that will allow you to boost the volume and quality of sound coming out of your device
As I said, I don't have a tablet yet so I can't vouch for how they'll sound coming out of one but I'd imagine it'd be just fine
I'd also take the time to look into how to set up a graphic equaliser, as they can make poorer earphones sound much better
This post probably made no sense as I'm writing it at 3AM and barely awake but I'll check over it later, feel free to ask if anyone has any more questions and I'll see if I can help

I'm not sure exactly what Bluetooth chip is in the tablet but it's way superior than my HTC Inspire 4G's BT. I recently bought the Sennheiser MM550 which is one of the best BT stereo headphones out there. The Sennheiser website says you need apt-X codec support to fully enjoy audiophile-grade lossless sound wirelessly. Though I don't know what's in the Gtab 10.1 since the Samsung website only says BT 2.1 EDR, I can say the sound is amazing compare to what gets outputted from my HTC phone with the same song. The HTC phone also gives a little hiss and clicks here and there but the Gtab 10.1 is just flawless even at 30 feet out. Funny thing for lower end BT stereo headphones the HTC phone is fine. I have tried few others like the Sennheiser MM 200, motorola S9 and few Sonys. They all sound the same through both HTC phone or the Gtab 10.1.
I'm not too experienced on the Apt-X codec thing. Maybe someone with more knowledge in this area can comment on it, but now I'm re-encoding all my songs in 320kb or AAC just to fully enjoy the music. Awesomeness!!!

A2DP is done in the software BT stack (bluez), not in the BT chipset's firmware. Last I checked, bluez doesn't support apt-X, though I suppose it's possible that Samsung added that as a proprietary feature.
Haven't tried BT anything with mine. I would love to find a pair of stereo BT earbuds that are as comfortable as the wired Sennheisers I use with my phone. I can sleep with those in (fall asleep listening to podcasts via Google Listen) but it would be awesome not to have the frigging phone (or iPod) in bed with me.

Buy one of the many Bluetooth units that let you use your own 3.5mm headphones and jack the Sennheisers into that. The "dongles" run pretty small too these days, and are good for 6-8 hours on a charge.

I suggest this pretty little wonder: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Ericsson...1DCM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313509936&sr=8-1
Strong points compared to my Jabra BT3030 (The Dog Tag one):
1. Longer battery life, significantly.. My MW600 can last the whole day (morning, afternoon and night!) but my Jabra's dead by 6pm, just before nightfall
2. Louder output. The Jabra is significantly softer compared to the MW600. I tried listening through the 3.5mm jack and compared it with listening through the Jabra and I can say the Jabra is quieter. The MW600 sounds roughly as loud as when wired to the 3.5mm directly
3. Can remember up to 3 devices. I saved my Laptop, my Asus transformer, and my Bluetooth transmitter (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002PU9U0E/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_6). I use the bluetooth transmitter when i want to listen from any music player with a 3.5mm output jack. The Jabra can only remember 1 device so it's a hassle switching audio sources.
4. Can pair media audio and phone audio to separate devices. This means that i can listen to music on my Asus transformer (connected via media) and still receive calls from my Galaxy S (connected via phone) all from one headset. I don't know how to achieve this on the Jabra.
5. MW600 has FM built in. IDK though if you'd want that.

Good to hear.. The bluetooth stack on my Galaxy S was horrible.. Lots of hissing and metallic noise.. It's good that they implemented a different bluetooth stack on the tablets.. I hope they did the same on the SGS2

Man, I was looking for some good BT headphones & I looked into how much your HF cost & $400s. Wow! Can you recommend a cheap HF? Tops 200s & is it really worth the price? I don't have an ear for audio so I'm not sure, a top of the line HF will benefit me or not.

Depends on how much you want to spend. If you want the top of the line bluetooth, you are best bet is Sennheiser. You can also get the PX 360 BT which is the same as the MM 550 I have except without active noise cancelling (ANC) and microphone for calls. If you want ANC without calling feature, you can get PXC 360 BT. The former ones are circumaural meaning covers your ears. If you want smaller over the ear, AKA supraaural, you can get MM 400, PXC 310 BT, or MM 450. Differences is BT, BT+ANC, BT+ANC+Calling. You can get these on Ebay for cheap. I tried out the MM 550 at Apple store and bought a 2 month old pair from Ebay for 280.
Another great choice is Nokia BH-905i which is about $170 on Amazon, it has BT, ANC, and calling features. I almost got it except it's silver ear mugs are too overthetop for me.
Sony DRBT50 is also circumaural with great reviews. I almost got it except I really wanted top of the line with ANC.
If you want decent quality, not audiophile quality, go with any of the Sony Bluetooth earbuds. They are all great. I have tried 3 of them. It's nice to hide your headphones in your short with Sony's form factor.
Always check out Ebay for great deals .
