[Q] How to wake up the phone when out of the pocket ? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there !
I search for a mod for CM 11 (Nightly or stable) that would wake the phone when I take it out of my pocket. I don't need the "active display", I just need the phone to wake when I open its case or take it out of my pocket (something that would detect light).
I think there is probably a mod for that, but as I don't speak English very well (as you noticed) I can't find it.
Could anyone help me ?
Thanks !

there isn't a mod for that. and that would be terrible for battery. the phone would never go into deep sleep, it would stay awake, waiting for a go from a sensor.

I used Carbon Rom for a while, it has this feature (with Active Display) and my battery didn't yell at me ^^

For those who want something like that, I've finally found a very nice app : Gravity Screen. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree&hl=fr
Works great !

It works really good, thank you :*

Screen won't turn off with IM app open?

Hey everyone! I've got yet another problem... I have Jivetalk installed, alpha, and when it's CONNECTED, it won't turn off the screen. Only dim! But when DISCONNECTED (but still open) it does turn off!
So I thought "Geez... Lemme install another app!" so I installed Palringo, and same thing... Screen dims but won't turn off!
Is this a kind of known issue with apps that use data or leaves ports open or something? Some help or advice would really be appreciated.
www.beejive.com, if you'd like to try jivetalk (which I recommend 100%. They're the best.
I'm from Beejive, the developers of JiveTalk.
The screen item is a known open bug in our current alpha build (0.5.2). It will be fixed in our next build, 0.5.3.
You should get an alert in your app when the new build becomes available.
thanks.

Ohh then that makes me happy to hear that! Is there an ETA on it? I love your products, I've been using Jivetalk on my ipod touch and my blackberry. Also, is there a forum specifically for you? Or a Thread somewhere to talk about the WM6 build? Thanks

we haven't ran a forum for this alpha cycle yet, though we will start a few threads here and maybe one or two other forums once we go beta, which should be soon.
The backlight fix is already in the 0.5.3 dev build, but we're waiting on a few emoticon support fixes (the main feature in the 0.5.3 build) before releasing it to the registered alpha users.
For feedback, we prefer emails sent to our winmo address --> [email protected].
Wish MSN Mobile would keep the backlight on - it goes off in its normal power saving mode, but doesn't light back up again when you receive a message.
OK I think I understand what's going on. I see that on Skype they give you an option to turn off the screen or not, because they want to know if it should be turned off and go into standby or not. By default it must keep it from going into standby to keep a constant connection. I imagine JT must do the same thing. hehe. Can't wait for the next version weee! because right now when I receive a missed call, or an SMS and the screen turns on (i manually sleep it with the top button to keep JT open and not kill the battery) it stays on. Last night I went to bed early, put it to sleep myself, woke up and the screen was on all night. From 97% battery to 45 in 8-9h hours without use (my usage, but the screen was on! haha)
Can't wait Keeping my fingers crossed.

screen lights on at 00:00

the screen of the xperia lights on at 00:00 and it sucks, I always think a call or new sms is coming.
I had many htc before and it never happened.
however I remember 5years ago, some of ppc did have the same pb.
I know that is at this moment that windows saves everything necessary.
any solution?
Second thread?
The only thing I can think of is a faulty ROM. I have heard about phones lighting up when they change services from GPRS to 3G and so forth, but not about ones that do it at a precise time.
believe me, mine lights on every single day at 12:59 pm
ps: I have the french version by SFR(maybe it affects the ROM?)

Try a different ROM.
Mine did that with stock R2 Czech, now it is doing with SEUS-flashed R3 Czech and almost no extra software installed (I didn't have time since the flash).
Maybe it's not a bug, it's a feature.
EDIT: Wait, I use the G-Alarm and I checked the option about correction of some Windows bug. Read more here: http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/manual/limitations It's a feature!
My X1 does the same - but seriously - is that really a problem?
it's annoying for someone waiting for important phonecalls!
why should it happen on the xperia and not on my previous htc?
Same here. Also, I have a lock password set and the phone locks itself at that point in time, even when I am using it, which can be pretty annoying.
Edit: ROM is Generic UK R3A
Maybe this is the problem:

I remember there was a bug on all Pocket PC's where the device would turn on automatically at midnight, going back to the days when I had an Audiovox Maestro. But that was a long time ago, and I thought the "feature" was removed because I haven't ever experienced it recently.

So when you guys are in phone calls... there's this thing called a proximity sensor that tells the phone to keep the screen off when it's next to your face.

That's always been there. But why is it an issue now? It's kept my phone awake 1 hour out of 10 hr.

proximitysensormanager wakelock keeps the phone awake whenever the user is on a live call & the screen is pressed with the ear. The proximity sensor detects object proxmity thereby turning off the screen but keeping the phone awake since a live call is there. Most of the time, if everything is ok, the "keep awake" time of this wakelock will be equal or slightly less than user's total on-call time (if user doesn't use headset to answer call). See if this helps... peace :good:
Problem with the wake lock is that this keeps running even after the call. And drains the battery fast. Only way to fix is to reboot the phone

Bluetooth Issue with Cyanogenmod 12.1 optimized on S4 ???

I can't seem to find an answer...I tried posting on the JDC Team thread but it goes so fast, I think it has been passed over.
I am having a problem with Bluetooth. Within the last couple days (not sure when it actually happened) I can no longer activate the Bluetooth toggle. When I try it, it thinks for a second or two and then nothing...if I reboot and try and activate it, it moves to the on position but within 10 seconds it switches back off.
Is this a new problem? What is weird is on my wife's phone it is working fine. I am using the jflte version of the Optimized CM 12.1 by JDC Team..
If this is a known problem, please advise what I can do to fix as I want to be able to use the Bluetooth in the car.
Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. My bluetooth was perfect and fine with touchwiz 4.4.2 GNG8 rom. Now with CM12.1 "optimized" is not usable at all.
I still need to find any alternative rom because it's a big issue for me.

I reasearched a bit on this topic.
I flashed XXUHOD7 bootloader and modem and now bluetooth it's not crashing anymore:

I'll try it with my helmet headset tomorrow and I'll let you know.
Did you fix your Bluetooth with the new bootloader and modem?

I had a similar problem where I would try and turn on my bluetooth, and it would immediately switch off, almost like it couldn't find the hardware.
I fixed it by disabling System Profiles in Settings. The currently active profile said "turn bluetooth off", which I think was disabling it. Rebooted with no profiles and bluetooth seems to be fine.

Build 316 - Fingerprints can't be recognised

Hello guys, after i updated to .316 version, i can no longer use fingerprint to unlock my phone, it always say "not recognise". I tried testing the fingerprint sensor by going to calculator and do the .12345 but the test said the sensor works fine. I tried to remove all fingerprints then add it again but no help. Does anybody got the same issue, or anyone knows how to fix it? Thanks
Sorry for bad english!
Hello, my fingerprint scanner didn't respond either, and it only happened within the past hour, same build version
Pressing harder and wiping the surface didn't do anything. When trying to register a new fingerprint profile, didn't detect anything too.
The only way for me to use it again was to restart the phone. And even then, it happened again. So far it has happened 3 times since first encountering the bug.
Anyone with an idea of what might cause it?
Thank you.

it happens to me sometimes too
maybe its 316 new bug
just restart the phone it should work normally(at least for me it works)
Post this issue on Zentalk forum. & Also share the link to this thread there. Atleast we'll get a computerised message from the ASUS moderator.
