Hi, please share your thoughts and impressions on the 4.4.4 gpe update.
Is it worth the update? How is the screen colors? Still gamma issues? Is stock kernel OK?
I am still on 4.4.2 with sleekai kernel and would like to know if it is worth updating.
Thanks

Why not update? It's easy if you follow the new thread in Android Development section. Then you can flash sleekmasons kernel.

Hi all, I want to know, if I will get OTA update of the 4.2.2, if my device is root and the bootloader is unlock.
Thanks!
You will get OTA, but you will loose root. Bootloader will still be unlocked though.

Just use OTA Root keeper and you'll be fine
Besides root I also updated the kernel with the video tweaks from https://plus.google.com/107979589566958860409/posts/9VtBVHP67Hg
Should I restore the stock kernel now?

Uhh.... why?
The whole point of having an entire "Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" sub-forum is to be able to post distinct threads for each issue so that no one has to wade through hundreds of unrelated posts in a single thread looking for an answer to their question.
Trying to decrease the usefulness of XDA in order to karmawhore is not cool.
I would like to know too,I'm rooted on stock ROM but with Franco kernel
Thanks in advance

I am rooted with triforce 3.1 and MF9. What is the best way to get to the latest rooted stock ROM? This is my wifes phone and I have the Note 2 which I brought to 4.3 and there were a few tricky steps, just wondering if it is the same with the S4.
Thanks for any help you may offer!
To update to the most recent firm wear try this link below. And then just flash a 4.3 rom. Hope this is what your looking for.

I just did this last night:

It's stock, already rooted, and you just need to flash the MK2 modem along with it and you'll be set. Worked great for me.
Hi everyone, I'm fairly new to this stuff so please bare with me. I did look around the threads for something similar but was only able to find it for other devices. Anyways, I'm currently at version 4.3 (root), I'd like to know how I can update to the latest software 4.4.2 and keep my phone rooted, or if I have too how I can re-root. Thanks

Easy just take a look at the general section for the thread All in one for MK2 and NB1 it has a list of roms you can flash on post #3 are listed the roms for 4.4.2.
Here is the link to make it faster.

Thanks, I managed to get my phone back to stock 4.3 then update it.
Hi all, Does the kernal change from NC1 to NJ4 during the update from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4? Just wondering, as I'd like to flash the Touchwiz Rom based on the 4.4.4 platform.
Thanks,
K
I would suggest Odining to NB1 and stay there since 4.4.2 roms don't play so nice with 4.4.4 Yes the kernel will change. If you really want to update, READ THE INDEX. Sorry to say this, but you should search first before and then after, if you haven't found your answer, ask questions. Also, wrong section :/

Thanks for the reply, but since AT&T's i337 has been updated to 4.4.4, I was considering moving to one of the custom TouchWiz ROMS (4.4.4) following a stock update from my current custom ROM. Therefore, I would not be moving from a custom 4.4.2 to a custom 4.4.4. I HAVE read the forums, thanks.
As an aside,I appreciate the advice, but, based on the title of the forum, I thought my question was correctly placed.
Hello, Sorry if this has been asked before.
I am currently on android 4.4.2 rooted and would like to update to 4.4.4 and keep root.
Can any one suggest me a proper way to do this update ?
Thanks
There is a thread on this in this forum. You have to flash the NB1 kernel I think it is, root, then flash back to the kernel you're on.
