Hey. I bought a Nexus Q from ebay and planning on running cyanogenmod on it. Is it possible to "remote" control Spotify and / or xbmc on the Q from another android device (eg my phone or tablet)? If it dont exist I'm planning on using a wireless mouse but it would be nice to use my phone as a input device.
What about the hacking ability. Any api's realesed for functionality like the original Q software for remote control of the play queue? A headsup of tips-n-tricks and must have apps for the Q is appreciated.
Hi... I have a Razer Phone and in my car I have this Sony Head unit called XSP-N1BT that uses smartphone display as the head unit display upon mounting. It's a great deck, but it doesn't have any on deck control for anything except source and vol + and -
All other settings like menu, sound enhabcements Bluetotth setup, etc are either on the physical small remote controller that came along with it, or by the use of this App from Sony called AppRemote (available on Play Store).
As the head unit has been discontinued by Sony and it's psy its support period, they won't update that app and therefore it cannot be run on nougat or higher android OS. instead of showing source input selection grid with USB, Bluetooth, CD, etc it shows the background image of the sake view, but no input selection icons and in Tue background in tiny letters you can see an HTML code.. Guess it has something to do with nougat and Oreo webview enhancements. I tried installing Marshmallows web view alone and that doesn't really do anything.
So either I need to figure out a way get the app running on nougat+ Oreo (which I doubt I'd have luck with) or I need to find a way to loaf marhmallow on my Razer phone through project treble.
Hope someone here can help. Thanks.
Project treble is only for android 8 and above...
Android 6.0 treble? loooooool . Are you kidding me ?
Dude go and read what project treble is and from when it started, so you won't create a thread like this again.

This doesn't make any sense as Treble is only available on Oreo and later.
Thread closed.
OK, not my favorite car in the world. But my mate showed off his new (to him) Volvo XC90 about 4-5 yrs old.
We sat in it for about two hours working out all the knobs n whistles and then we found the phone section.
Not only could we pair his phone, I then did mine. Plus it has option for about ten more - at the same time
Samsung S6 and Samsung S9, so nothing too special. But the realy cool thing, and I mean REALY COOL, and something I've been crying out for for ages for my humble px5 head unit, was at the click of a touch screen not only could you see recent callers, but also recent messages. This is where I would put the well n truly shocked icon !
No google crap, nag screens, warnings of the apocolypse or anything. Jjust a simple clear list of readable recent messages.
Not only that but at a simple touch of any message it was read out. No fuss or bother, no mods, plugins or crashes or freezes.
It just worked.
So why have we let google literally kick our asses for so long. Sob.
Hi, that might be because your PX5 is not Android auto but is a hacked chinese android.
Requesting mod move to Android head units section...

Android auto is an general overall head group of sub groups of posts of specific catagories including the google os Android auto.
But before you move it, how about you show me show me a dedicated (android auto) head unit I can buy, that fits my car.
Mercedes w203. That runs 'Android auto' and doesn't have a ton of usless junk like play store, tracking, feedback, Adverts, usage logs, heart monitor, nag screens, privacy notices and works flawlessly as my post above describes. Whoose system IS also a android 'hacked' based system. And I wont care who makes it.
PLEASE - I will buy it.

You're still confusing android auto with cheap Chinese headunits running modified versions of Android 6-10 - they are very different.
Android auto units basically mirror your phone display to the vehicle Android auto headunit display.
Official / REAL Android Auto units, without the 'junk' you describe are listed here: https://www.android.com/auto/
Since you're still not alive to the differences and comparing your PX5 hacked Chinese android headunit to an unknown type unit, mods moved your post to the appropriate android headunits sub-forum.
Suggest learning the basics and differences and then ask questions.
I would say also, that head units supporting AA are not sold separately, but they only come mounted in new cars, as part of the infotainment system. They do not have and it is not possible to install apps on them, they only become alive when connected to a mobile phone (which will be then the brains of the system).
As marchnz said, they only mirror your phone's screen.
You are talking about independent head units supporting Android operating system (which do not need AA because they are already being able to download and run appps from Play store) , and that is something else.

Not quite.
I know what android auto is.
I also agree some manufatures use android as alternative to win ce to build their quality radios like Pioneer.
This is different and why I posted. Please don't assume its an either or and that I'm an idiot for mentioning it.
Volvo have used Googles android as an os without the crap 'spyware apps' and intergration to develop their OWN system. called sensus
It does not mirror a phone and run apps from it.
Although the new version does have AA and much more google integration unfortunately.
It does not require a phone to work. It has its own built in for data if need be. But also runs off line.
Its an independent system that can link to multiple paired phones for messaging and calls.
Their are no agreements and nag screen pop ups every two minutes from google. All its functions are running at once and all work together. So easy to flick from one to the other without it crashing.
Its a great system and showcases what can be done and the potential of just android as an os without googles presence and interference.
Noob question.
Since my car doesn't have a Android auto player, I'm using Android Auto interface on my phone and connect to player through Bluetooth.
On all Android 10 Rom's everything work's fine, but on Android 11 Rom's some ROM's show Android Auto interface on phone, some don't. I know is a solution using Android Auto on Phone app launched by Google, to force showing the interface. But the question is what make the difference between A11 ROM's to show or not Android Auto interface also on phone.
I currently have the Yulu E10 Plus for F150. My specifications are attached. I have an Alexa Auto that works well with the device, however, in order for it to connect the Alexa app requires it is open. I wanted to automate the opening of the Alexa app, however, there appears to be no native way to do it. I tried using an app like Tasker or Automate but it has a couple of problems.
1. The device kills all apps that the user opens when it sleeps or restarts.
2. Accessibility settings are turned off after each sleep/reboot.
I wanted to root to whitelist certain apps but there does not appear to be solid information on how to accomplish that for this model of head unit. It does have the UIS7682 CPU but none of the information I have found in the forums covers that along with the specific MCU and System version. Want to be sure as to not brick my device.
Wondering if anyone has advice or experience with this type of head unit.
Thanks in advance!

First you could check if your device has the option to auto start the navigation app and if you can set another app as navigation app.
