Has anyone added Flashlight to quick settings? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I found some tutorials that involved modifying Systemui.apk and SecSettings.apk so I took them from Beans deodexed rom and made my modifications and replaced and changed permissions. Wiped cache and Dalvik rebooted. No go. Lol. Recovered the original apps since I just renamed to bak. Thanks Safestrap. So has anyone managed to do it that would like to share their apks?

I was only able to get it half working so far. I had it 100% on my note 3 but for whatever reason the toggle only shows up in the add toggle section. I haven't had the time to figure out the rest so far.

If you find a solution please share...I haven't had any luck either.

Was that the SecSettings.apk mod that you got working then? You've gotten farther than I have. Neither of my apks even work. Lol

Yup, it was this mod. I used a different smali file from the N3 mod I did. I'm thinking it might have something to do with that, I'm not sure who to ask for a solution to that. I'm pretty clueless with smali edits.

Yeah, that's what I was using but pretty sure I screwed up adding the 8 Lines to the method. When I looked at the method there were line numbers or something after each of the 4 lines so I added in line numbers as well. Was that a no no?

Not really but the line numbers should be at the beginning of each of the 4 lines. Try posting any questions for that mod in that forum, you'll probably get better answers that I can provide. I'm pretty new to modding myself.

Has anyone had any luck with getting the fashlight to work in quick settings?

Been looking for this as well. So far this is the information I gathered:
I believe you have to do both these mods:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617552
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796471
in order to enable the flashlight toggle from pull down menu. I have only done the second mod for hotspot toggle and it works. I have yet to try the first one and am kind of scared to try since this is my daily driver. If anyone is brave enough let me know if it works.

The first one seems to be for the S3. I'm fairly certain that it will break something or at least not work if you try using it on the S5.

I was pointed in that direction by Sharpie603 in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792478
he created the All In One Toolkit and indicated that those are the instructions to manually add the toggle for the S5. He also requested that if anybody did the mod to provide the modified apk so he can integrate them into the toolkit.

I tried both of those already, they recompiled fine however I messed something up because neither would run on my phone after. Lol. Not sure If it mattered as to why they wouldn't run, but I was using the deodexed apps from Beans ROM with my stock ROM.

EDIT: I did also modify the settings.db before flashing this and had to reset the quicksettings tiles. I also noticed today that if you go in to edit mode the flashlight tile is not there and if you change anything the flashlight disappears completely from the quicksettings tiles. Not sure what is causing that.

I noticed that problem as well, I tried adding 'Flashlight;' to notification_panel_active_app_list_for_reset and notification_panel_default_active_app_list with no luck.

Giggles no I do not need a tutorial.
OK now the back arrow on the pink set you created. Maybe this is issue with all of them.In some apps that arrow turns to a down aimed arrow.that icon is the old one and needs to be modified as well. When you open the keyboard to type is one time that its fixable.
Can you make a all pink clock numbed. Wifi status and Bluetooth, headset icons giggles.
Thank you for this in advance.I know I could do it. But your just so good at it.

it was "GlassLock" and then I changed to "TapLock"... simple as that... I have not messed with anything else that could cause this issue...

Oops, all of the above functions are what I need, but I want to keep the "fully charged notifications" as I found it very useful
Am I gonna deal with decompiling SystemUI.apk?
What should I do with the xml files, and which file is it?

well the package was downloaded somewhere on your phone. i can't remember where right now ill try to find out and edit this post. just dont click on the update now prompt just yet. once you do that the package will install and remove itself.
if you have root explorer or es file explorer or whatever file viewing program. look in your cache folder ( its in the root directory, this means above the sdcard in the file tree)
here are some links: this link tells you why you need to use a file explorer program (your computer probably can't see this folder) http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/32205/where-can-i-find-the-ota-update-file

[Q] Replace SystemUI to get rid of S5 quick settings

I hate the quick settings in the notification panel of my Galaxy S5.
I'd like to disable it. I've searched for an Xposed module to do the work, but the closes I got was a "Xposed G-Touchwiz" tha helped me to hide the S-finder and Quick Connect buttons.
So I was wondering... Is it possible (or will it work if) to replace the SystemUI.apk with a version from, let say, CM? I'm not sure what else the SystemUI do, but I've crazy seen people replacing it to get the S5 quick settings buttons.
I would appreciate if anyone knows how to get rid of the quick settings in notification shade of the stock Galaxy S5.
Thanks.

It won't work with a cm systemui.apk. will most likely give you a ton of force closes. There are many custom Roms though with it either turned off or the option of turning the bar off. Just pull the systemui.apk from these Roms and replace yours.

Hi,
I guess you did this in a custom rom? And compiled it yourself?
If so.. Could you share it maybe? I could integrate it into my Xposed module "Xposed G-Touchwiz" ofcourse with credits to you =).
Thanks,

Yeah! Thats sound sweet. If Xposed G-Touchwiz could get rid of the Quick Settings it would be awesome!
BTW, thank you very much for Xposed G-Touchwiz. It helped a lot!

Thanks, great to hear that. Only I have to wait for a reply from @Goldie or start digging in the SystemUI myself with no knowledge where to search..

I've replaced the SystemUI,apk from the AOKP rom, but I'm missing something.
What I did:
In folder /system/priv-app
Renamed SystemUI.apk to SystemUI.apk.old
Renamed SystemUI.apk to SystemUI.odex.old
Copy the new SystemUI.apk to the folder /system/priv-app
Changed permissions of the new file, so it match the permission of the original file (rw-r--r--).
Reboot
It didn't work. One time I got the same notification shade as if I haven't done anything. Other time the notification area was completely gone.
The problem, I think, is that I don't have the SystemUI.odex file, nor could I find it on the AOKP rom.
Can you please enlighten me?

How did you get that? Share with us, please!
Its an option in my rom. The aim of the rom is to make people realise that they dont HAVE to use xposed. There are still people doing things the old way and modding the base files. The one in the screenshot is part of Kitkat style and you can switch to it or a whole bunch of other styles in one click.
For example you could have S5 style but then turn toggles off....
And then maybe sfinder off....
Or have a carbon look with toggles at the bottom...
If you like to change stuff to suit your taste you should try it!

Hi! You just sold me your fish! (Its a Brazilian expression!)
I installed Alliance ROM and I'm pretty much satisfied. Nice work you've done!
But it would be nice to have those features on a Xposed module too.
One thing that I dind't realize how to do is how to get rid of the second page toggles (the page on notification shade that shows all the toggles). As a suggestion, it would be nice to have a way to hide some of those useless icons/toggles.
Just for future reference (for those who tried), do NOT attempt to use SystemUIs from other devices/roms especially on an odexed rom. Thats recipe for FC's and bootlooops.
Xposed happens to be my only option at the moment.
Goldie, I would love an allianceRom version for sprint! Until then, how did you do it? I tried pulling the systemui.apk but couldn't find an editable xml. Any pointer would be awesome.

+1 on that, i'd like to remain stock
:crying: There is no recovery flashable for my SM-G901F for now.
Xposed IS my only alternative....
Keep the good work

Looking For Mostly Stock With Tether 5.01 OH1 ROM

I like to keep my phone mostly stock with some goodies like root, tether and 5 way boot and then remove the APP's I don't want. I have searched quite a bit looking for a ROM like this but no luck. Anyone planning on making a ROM like this? I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it especially myself.

I looked at that ROM but it looks like it has had quite a few mod's done to it and there are a few people having problems with it so I didn't try it. I will try it and report back. Thanks!

Delete the build.prop line you added, save, and reboot.
Also make sure you flashed the System Update fix linked on the download page.

I didn't add a line to the build prop I just looked through it for the camera shutter. I went ahead and flashed the ROM again and it is there in the camera settings now. Thanks a lot!! I don't know what went wrong but I'm sure it is something I accidentally did.

Been messing with this ROM all day and it is working great for me! I am having a hard time seeing the numbers while in call because of the gear background image and was hoping you could tell me where to go to change that? Thanks again

Thanks for that! I found a lot of useful items in that section. I had to go back to my stock backup because I started having error messages like "google stopped working" and "android services stopped working" or something like that, I can't remember exactly what it said. Also whenever I would use the voice text to send an SMS the mic would not go away, it was everywhere I went and blocking everything. Oh well I tried. Thanks for helping!
