well the package was downloaded somewhere on your phone. i can't remember where right now ill try to find out and edit this post. just dont click on the update now prompt just yet. once you do that the package will install and remove itself.
if you have root explorer or es file explorer or whatever file viewing program. look in your cache folder ( its in the root directory, this means above the sdcard in the file tree)
here are some links: this link tells you why you need to use a file explorer program (your computer probably can't see this folder) http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/32205/where-can-i-find-the-ota-update-file
google search in case you need more references on what to do: https://www.google.com/search?q=whe...j7&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8
last edit: or just use the person who posted above me links lol. that thread seems good. i was just posting stuff as fast as i could so you didn't accidentally install the update.

well its appreciated that you tried but you wont be able to pull the ota without root access. and even if you try to root now you have to downgrade to 4.2.2 and you might not get the prompt for 4.4.2. again after you root.

If you're rooted, it definitely isn't a Samsung thing because you can't get OTA updates if you're rooted.

Rubbish! You can root your phone and still have a status of Official and counter of zero which will give you the updates (update will in most cases remove root). Just check some of the stickies in the dev section.

Really, because after just looking at 2 threads in the i9500 section I can see a way fo doing it on the 9500, cannot verify it works as have the 9505 but the info is there. I am easily able to get to this state on my i9505.
Point is, that people post things without reading up or knowing the full facts, this provides false information for others. If you are not 100% sure then do not post or mention that the info is as far as you know...

True, many of the listed methods don't work. But LG root.zip does work!! It's not any of the one click tools or any of the root apps. There are only 3 or 4 commands, and the tool tells you exactly what to so. Best of luck rooting.

Sorry to be a litte of topic here, but I have a question regarding lg leon. Does iso control (in apps like camera-fv5, open camera, etc) work for you? Because it doesn't work on mine and I've been wondering if it's something wrong with my phone or if it just doesn't work on third party apps or at all .
Yes both 3rd party apps and google play store apps are both working for me. Got a few of both going...and a few rooted ones as well. Which ones are not working for you?

Sorry, I might have created a bit of confusion. Apps work. It's just that ISO settings for camera apps don't work. Is that what you meant? Do ISO settings work for you? If so, I've tried about every camera app I could think of, and ISO does not work at all. It shows the settings but they don't do anything.
Guys I have the phone too I root some days ago but when I update the Android root gone , I try lg one click root but it didn't worked , any other suggestions ?

so we've probably got the same problem -_- my phone wasn't rooted before the update, so probably the update broke all the rooting methods that were possible so far :-/
Try LG root.zip. That should re root your phone. It isn't one click. There are a few commands to type, but the tool tells you exactly what to do. LG root.zip rooted my Leon when none of the other methods could.

I didn't get any error messages. However, at the end there were instructions to type end or leave or something. While it kinda looked like the process did not finish for me, the rootbhad actually occurred! I needed up typing leave or whatever...and nothing was happening.... So I eventually just closed out the script window. But when I checked the phone I was indeed rooted! Yes! Try it again, and when you've gone as far as it'll go, check for root. I bet you'll have it.
Well, i try this too. I went to download mode section and when i press the script code i don't see any running stuff in terminal.. I did everything they said . And something else , i try rebooting to recovery but when i had the old android before the lg update i could go there but now i see an android logo with a yellow triagle standing around and looking me like i killed it
not working for me.... i used KingRoot and....
I will try again routing my phone and if it works with somehow i will send a reply here...
OKay @MotexT have been looking at the ota package 32.1.A.1.185
I will be quoting heavily from hangout
MotexT
Wow, this is really strange. Looks like new algorithm for OTA
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Hmm, clarify ?
MotexT
We all know how it works - we have updater-script which contain the algorithm of flashing files, right? Here, if I really got it, we don't have a classical scenario for that, which seems like new way to flash OTA updates

and that's not an exaggeration either

yeah there appears to be hashing functions in the kernel commandline as well
tell me this bootloader is encrypted?
MotexT
New one will be - there are certificates for all version and revisions, and looks like it encrypts the new bootloader after flashing
Checked out the files and yes - it will encrypt bootloader with SHA256 keys

Can you post that in a thread please?
MotexT
This file is for the first bootloader version
And it flashes some security into it
Click to expand...

okay so does this really read as encrypted or signed?
This one is encrypted and checks if encryption was successful
It encrypts
Okay yeah let's upgrade that proposed thread to a warning.
i'm going to quote this hangout heavily so can you leave all those screens accessible?
MotexT
Yep, use them. Also highlight the lines where it's written, hope someone will do deeper research of all that stuff. Also I will add boot folder with all that files
Also it's strange at all - looks like this changes will be applied just after OTA - one guy has flashed new TFT an then he installed your kernel and my recovery and for him everything works well
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
So, I have uploaded the whole folder with this files to my Drive. For everyone who flashed the new version via Flashtool, don't flash any OTAs from Sony cause as @moonbutt74 have described in OP, there is some valuable changes. And yeah, they will still popping-up even if you have the newest version on board.
I don't quite understand what this means actually. I installed via flashtool, then kernel also via flashtool, then TWRP and everything seems fine so far. Anything I shouldn't or can't do now? And should others not update or what? What's going on?
Thanks for you work though!

In short, don't flash the ota. The ftf seems fine though with flashtool. and then if i have it right , only flash system .?
For anyone who is intersted in picking up development for this device I am attaching the kernel defconfig extracted from the kernel.elf/sin from the aforementioned firmware release. Linux/arm64 3.10.84
What exactly are the consequences when updating with ota?

I can't see a specific reply to this question by fayer3.
Can anyone spell out the consequences and rollback options for anyone flashing the OTA?
Is this likely to affect ALL future versions from Sony? In that case we should find ways to turn off OTA updates, to minimize the risk.

Can you copy the download out of the phone without root?
Are you able to download the update with root?

Oh ya, I always pull the updates before flashing, but usually my phones are rooted minutes after I receive them.
I need my Gear to work and it didn't with the current root... bummer...
Which is the previous version? N930PVPU1APGC?

Does this affect/patch the root method we have for the Sprint Note 7?
Even if you update, you should be able to Odin back to the root file...as you can odin back to the original official tar. The update only adds wifi calling and some smaller fixes.
I have the update, have not installed it. I am not rooted, so don't know how to pull it off for others. But will be glad to if someone tells me how on my unrooted phone, if possible.

So it allowed you do download the update while you were rooted?
Out of curiosity, where on the phone was the download stored?
Oops, just read more carefully, you don't know where it is. I have pulled them before, but don't remember where. It's not the obvious places like "Download". I think it was in a cache folder. Use a root explorer and look around in the system folder.
Right , I don't know where it is

You could try ota or fota
I'm pretty sure it is downloaded to the system folder somewhere (cache maybe?). Without root, you'll never get to it.
I figured as much but it seemed like people were interested having non rooted people look.
It's odd cause this is the first non rooted phone I've ever had. I'm holding out to see if we get the boot loader unlocked and custom roms. If not I'm going to skip root this time around.

I'm in the same boat. I need my Gear S to work and it doesn't with the rooted rom we have now.
I'm surprisingly happy with it unrooted. I did buy Adguard, because I can't stand ads. Other than that, all good. If my plan didn't include HotSpot, it might be a different story.
All ya hafta do is Kingoroot it via PC and u done!:good::good::good::good::good:
I'll try it - post your results in this tread people.

Doesn't work - give us information like where you downloaded it from. Are you sure you were not on Fire OS 5.3.1?
I dunno then. I probably am on 5.3.1
This might explain why kingroot has been telling me for nearly a day I have root. I've forced stopped it, cleared cache and data, uninstalled and sometimes it still tells me I have root. However, I haven't connected to the PC to try that way since the new release. BTW no I don't have root...yet.
EDIT: Just tried. No root via PC. Did they do another update in the last 12 or so hours?
See...this is what I have been seeing for pretty much the last 24 hours or so:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
No worries though. I am not root yet
tried latest kingroot 5.20 but it doesnt work for me on fire os 5.3.3.0

Right. Let's just assume everyone is a troll. He very well could've rooted an older version. Maybe not. Everyone here had 4 posts at one point.

well the topic states he found root for FireOs 5.3.3.0 but he did not deliver any proof, also serveral people tested (me including) and cant confirm. so in this instance its probably safe to say OP is a troll.

Older versions can be rooted via Kingroot.

Really? OP got a little excited and posted what he believed to be a 'win'. A day later he acknowledged the error (kinda). The following sums it up nicely:

well i used the wrong wording by calling op a troll. that was not my intention. although in the end it doesnt really matter if it was intentional or just a mistake by op.

Question...does anyone know what signatures the bootloader accepts on Amazon tablets? I know they are supposed to be official. But what is defined as such...example: Would it accept a signature from Google?

Modify an APK. Run an exploit that way. Trick the CPU into installing an app it still thinks is 'official.' not sure how to gain root that way, but maybe we could modify an APK to be able to reinstall on /sdcard/ so it can uninstall itself. It's not root, but would at least get rid of the apps for a period.

You can't modify the apk without it modifying Amazon's signature. You can't reinstall system apps either in Fire OS 5.3.3 and above. Although you might be able to for one app, but I am not holding my breath.

I might have a way, but it isn't pretty. And I learned recently that some think it to be even more unethical than what we are already doing. So I won't post here.

Sure, what's your way? I might be able to help you out.
If we can read the signature from a stock rom and apply it to SuperSU.zip we could flash it through stock recovery
