This thread is to discuss the new Android L AOSP
I think it is too early to talk about this version for our phones. I hope official KK will be rolled out for all versions and then see what and how.
IMHO, we don't have official Android L on our S4 mini NEVER, but is only my oppinion.

they have anounced a big KNOX with very strong security on their future 5.x "L" !!!!!!!
they love Samsung idea !
the end of android custom ? they take the way of a closed system like Apple ...for better security ???

i don't think so ...
entierely the fault to the hacks of this system......and Google will make lots of inovations for to have a strong "armored" Android system , it's sad ... the new politic ,the first preocupation is "the security" ( the current manners )
but wait & see ....

I have a feeling that we'll see L on our devices sooner than we think in the form of custom roms... not too sure about an official build from samsung.
we have some great devs supporting our phone. and a very big community of users.

for low end devise ? KK ? it's what phones manufacturers have said at the begining ! but in reality , only recent hight end have KK !
same things with "L" ,it's sure ...and not for our phone ! "too old" , for Samsung ...

yes, the big thing about kitkat was that it could run on devices with as little as 512MB of ram
Now i know that most manufacturers probably didnt come to the party with regard to updates, but im pretty sure that most devices had custom roms built with kitkat.
Also, the android one project is specifically targeted at low end devices and emerging markets and those devices will run L

Pretty sure there will be no L for the S4 Mini. Even now not all S4 mini devices have KK. The S4 Mini Duos version does not have official KK and there is no news yet

That post was made in June . I am on CarbonRom right now and there is an official KK released for the 9192.
first lollipop roms are out http://www.xda-developers.com/android/source-built-android-lollipop-for-various-devices/

since google has recently released their official new android version , aka , kit kat (4.4) , many devs have also started to port and make new roms for our beloved galaxy s2. but . to flash such roms on our device , i9100 needs to run the proper and compatible recovery which can run the kit kat custom roms . i searched a lot and also found a few people stating in a few posts , about the required recovery . i have done no efforts whatsoever . thank the guy (max lee @ galaxys2root.com ) for extracting the kernel/recovery from cm10.2 and making a flashable zip . attached the file below .
Copy the .zip file onto your sd card and flash it from your cwm.after flashing , reboot your recovery and ... voila ! you'll be running cwm recovery v6.0.4.5 ! thats just about it folks ! thanks a lot for your time .

Guys,to be honest,why in the world google has stopped the support for SGS2 back to 4.1.2 ? running custom ROMs on 4.2 or 4.3 shows us that the device is supporting greater versions of the Android. I just wonder...I got my SGS2 after i compared this phone with an iPhone 4 that i owned. After i saw that SGS2 is way better,i trade my iphone for s2. This device need more official support in my opinion. sorry if i post this a bit off-topic.

In terms of capacity yes its capable but the overall reason is MARKET STRATEGY by the manufacturer. OT.

Market Strategy is why I switched from IOS to Android. Apple and his main product sucks big time,Iphone 4 is less performant than an average android phone ( i keep telling iphone users that an huawei phone can beat an iPhone easy ) so whatta hell ? I understand that every manufacturer needs to make money,but shutting down the support for a 2 years phone in order to promote your latest devices is just unfair. Its still better and popular than any other 2 years old phone and even many latest phones. Samsung should not stop its development just because its a two years old phone its still a powerful, popular and capable device so it deserves more updates

you can find the latest cwm recovery in any latest kk rom available for our device ... the one i attached is an earlier version of cwm ... or you can flash @ Gustavo's kernel for cm11 , slimkat , or omni .. which i think i has the latest cwm recovery ( v6.0.4.7 )

after flashing the recovery from my previous CWm recovery the phone is softbricked i think

There may be ics builds now the drivers have been released
asking for ETA and demands are against xda rules and is just annoying
who knows what will happen in 5yrs time but I expect people will have new phones by then!

1. It requires 512mb of ram. Y have only 300mb.
2. The rom is much bigger than to our Y.

You can run kitkat in devices less than 512mb. Example: Galaxy Mini, Ace, Gio and Fit.

But it is a custom one and based on some aosp and cm's. If ever it have the updates for the Y but not the kitkat ones. It still gb.

I hope that a stock one with 4.4 is comming out.
Because i read in a german miui forum that only 2 developers of xiaomi works on port for other devices.
And maybe xiaomi will stop that because they want it only on theyr devices.
Hope my english wasnt to bad.

Seems like a lot of bugs were fixed in that rom and can be used daily, Has anyone tried that !? 4.4.2 will come out but will take time and I just can't wait to use miui..., Just love the UI..... Also no music player can perform like the one in miui. :good:
that's a lot of hectic work if only 2 developers are on way to porting !!

Well, I'm waiting for 4.4.2 too but I just can't wait to use them so I jumped to the cm11 base for now. Let's hope xiaomi understands that other people love their os and they shouldn't disappoint them, It's like you don't value your fans !! There will be one for our G2 soon, Lets hope !! No your english isn't bad :highfive:

I would love it too on my phone. But i'm waiting for a stock 4.4. If there comes no one i would try the cm based.
The information with the two developer who ports rom for other devices came from a very trustable member. He is in the miui team germany and translate the chinese roms into Germany.

This is a great news....my son's bought this device today. I just said to him what the ***l you buying this blah!!!....LoL
On the other note....i also seen @RVR releasing custom recovery (TWRP) for this device....both news make me smile a bit....at least we will see more good news to A7 owner....:good:

Ya sure its still work in progress the major issue is
1) Kernel Sources are KK based ( So we have to make it compatible with Lollipop , just takes sometime )
2) Adapting Sources to Snap 615 SOC (new to samsung)
Once CM boots i will make a thread here with all and latest updates

Hey guys,Just brought a Sasmung A5,its currently on the kitkat rom pre install on my My Samsung A500H so i tried and look for roms,but couldn't find any. My previous phone was Samsung S1 and all roms i flashed are from xda,Thanks devs.

Yes the s6 one is the only one working i know but i really want to have cyanogenmod for my a5 before any other mod,and the s6 one is not that different of the lollipop update 5.02 with a lot of bugs as its the older release of lollipop.

i would give up in your position, already thinking of selling my phone because of lack of custom roms

Ohh thats sad :/. but still ill just be patient for a developer to start to build for my specific device. The A5 can really be a nice successor. I really wish it brings same positive aspect same as the S series. Cause so jealous of samsung series have more developer than us. Anyway Good luck guys.
agreed, its a great phone with great promise, but its problem with this chinesse models and same phone with 4 diff models. You aactually need more develpoers than. I hope it will get better soon, its kinda still new phone, but compared to s series, its better to buy s5 and have tons of roms, if you are in to that stuff.I had same problem with htc desire 820, chinesse phone with no develpors, tons of models and 0 roms

What to do,i really wanted that phone for premium touch and now i have to stay with it.no worries i know and im sure a developer will make their way up for this device.it still new as you said,so gotta wait for roms (im so much into that) :'( Good luck again devs. Thank you in advance
