I really like the default sms app lg has, before upgrading to kitkat the app had group sms functionality. But now whwen i use roms such as the G3 port i lose that setting in the messaging app. Anyone have the same problem? I am using the tmobile variant of the G2.

Hey everyone, I'm diggin the gtizzle other than one small problem. Everytime I want to send a pic (on stock messaging app) it always shows as a slide show..I never had this problem on my g1 and can't figure it out, a friend said you can send a pic that isn't a slideshow using handscent but I don't like that app, any other solution?

Nope. I just set handcent to look like the messaging app. Problem solved. I'm assuming they'll fix this in an update.
Handcent is really way better tho. You should just set it as ur default app..

I use ChompSMS because I've always preferred it over the native app. I just want the LED in the speakergrill to be enabled so I can use my color coded alerts again. There are a few software bugs already causing pretty big issues so I am hoping an OTA update is on the way soon
Hi - Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the default apps that S voice uses on the S3 (AT&T)? I am using Google Voice Integrator to bypass the stock sms and send/receive all SMS through Go SMS Pro/GVoice. However, if you use S Voice, it still sends through the stock app. Driving mode also only reads SMS from the stock app. I've tried disabling the stock app hoping to force it to default to Go SMS (or even Gvoice). Any thoughts?
Another Galaxy S3 thread. Read the forum name correctly, S3 users This is Galaxy 3 GT-I5800/5801 forum, not the S3. Use correct forum for your device.

I've seen instructions on xda for replacing touchwiz apps with the GS3, and it's been claimed that it's possible to delete the Samsung messaging app in favor of another sms app.
So I've frozen the Samsung messaging app on my SG4, and I've installed the jellybean build of Google's messaging app. But it doesn't quite work? I can successfully send sms messages (I'm on rogers) and I can receive sms messages if the sms message app is open. But when the app is closed and out of memory I don't get sms.
It gets stranger, though. When I thaw out the Samsung messaging app, I seem to get my sms' again, but in the Google messaging app. Which is sort of what I wanted, but I'm left wondering why the Google app can't work on its own.
Has anyone else tried this and gotten it to work?

Have you tried leaving the Samsung SMS app unfrozen, and simply turn off its notifications? Sometimes that's what you need to do in order for 3rd party SMS apps to work, because the background service is tailored for the OEM's app. So you have to let that retrieve the messages and save them to the SMS/MMS storage area, which other SMS apps can then retrieve the data from.
Although it is strange that the AOSP app isn't working. But it's worth a try.
OK. I am loving my LG G2 (LS-980 Sprint Variant)
I am not able to group message with regular messaging app (sprint issue)
so i am forced to use Hangouts app.
My only issue is that i hate HANGOUTS Emoji,
I would much rather see my LG Emoticons while i use the hangouts app for all my sms mms and Group messages.
Is there a way to disable the emojis in hangouts so that i only see the regular LG emoji font?
Please someone help.
i tried removing android emoji from SYSTEM/FONTS but that did not work.
I dont know what to do.
There is no way to remove it from Hangouts. Someone (you or someone else) has to mod/change the emoji in the app itself.

Curious as to what everyone is using on the z3c for regular SMS and MMS i know that hangouts messages are a chat and therefore use data so curious if people that dont do that very often just forgo using hangouts as a general?
Both are the same ..delete hangouts its bloatware

Textra here. The stock messaging app is lacking in features like group MMS.
Textra also.

Textra is like the stock messaging app but on steroids. Pretty lightweight and loaded with customization features and options to fine tune what you what in a SMS/MMS app.
Textra
Hangouts... I like the integration

Hangouts for all, also using the Dialer for voLTE calls.
Hangouts is a pretty awesome, all-in-one app, not just for texting, but instant messaging, voice chat, video chat, and regular phone calls. And gifs!
Hangouts
Is Textra Sms only or does it also get actual Hangouts messages?

MySMS. I use it for cloud text backup and notifications on my tablet and PC.
Hangouts.
Textra FTW! ?
I've been using Go SMS Pro because of the group messaging (most of my friends have iPhones). I haven't been happy with it because it gets laggy when there is a lot of activity going on. I will check out Textra!
Hangouts is still not that great, but I use it. Where the hell is the search feature in Hangouts?
I did never used Hangouts for sms. What are the prons in it? I tried it now, but I see nothing special in it.

Well for those who need group messaging, the stock Sony SMS client is not an option. Hangouts is as good a choice as any to most people.
Personally, I've been using the leaked Messenger app from Lollipop.
I'm using the 5.0 Lollipop MMS app
