With kitkat (maybe earlier with knox) SELinux got switched from permissive (only logging) to enforce mode.
A good explenation in the android-context, especially the Samsung-context is given here
With the kk Image for sm-p605, switching back to permissive was denied by kernel-config. For me this meant: I was not able to run a chroot-linux (ubuntu for example) on my device, because the needed loop device couldn't be created. Even not by root (see the link for an explenation, why root is not really root anymore)

Okay works with:
mount -t ntfs /dev/lock/sdb1 /storage/UsbDriveA is working.
Need to figure out how to mount rw (ntfs-3g doesn't work). But I gave a compile option for NTFS-writing. Need to dig into later.

good work. looking forward to testing your progress. one thing is absolutely to explore in relation with the custom kernel capabilities: charging current sensitivity.
the perseus custom kernel for note 2 was able to bypass this restriction (limiting the recharging current with some poor connection cables-due to voltage drops) boosting the recharging current to 1.8 mA. Currently on the note10.1 I'm not able to go above 1.1 mA during the recharge even with the original 5.3V power supplly.
It should be possible to do the trick also here I suppose (and hope).
challange is there....[emoji6]

Reviewed the NTFS-write option: only rewriting files, without size Change, no delete, no new files --> I think no one needs that. I won't take any effort into getting ntfs-3g compiled to arm (runnable via fuse) because Paragon NTFS already does the job.
I've looked into compile Options belonging to the charging topic:
- there are drivers for chargers and QPNP Regulators - but this goes far beyond my scope, because I'm neither a Linux-dev nor a driver dev
- via the regulators, I seems there are fine-tunable boosts
- I don't have any specs on max. charging values of the sm-p605 battery, but found out the following with Battery Monitor Widget (stock Charge with max 2000mA Output)
1) average charging values (battery below 70%) is about 24%/hour (8220mAh * 0,24/h = 1972mA) --> nearly max. supplied
2) I don't know what happens beyond 80 - 90% charge, but the values have to get smaller, otherwise the battery got's in danger and
loading percentage could only be measured via current voltage, so you have to cut-off early enough (last 10-20% should take longer)
3) i used a charger from Galaxy S2 with 700mA out, which only delivered around 120 mA, not good, but the wires are in bad condition
--> so in my opinion it's a problem of good hardware (chargers) and you defenitly have to know how much the battery can handle max before using bigger chargers

Yes, it boots, SEandroid disabled, forgets all previous saved WiFi networks. Don't tried further (restored from backup). Waiting for a proper NF2 (latest) kernel.
EDIT: P605XXUCNE2 is the only (open)source available. As long as WiFi is working (confirmed - saw some WiFi networks there...) mame82 & his magic are only choices for now to get a good custom kernel for P605. Thanks!

You can try it. Have a backup before. It boots, seems (very) OK. Flashed with Odin 3.09, files goes to AP section. Also set ro.securestorage.support from true to false in /system/build.prop if WiFi passwords don't get remembered. Also Wanam exposed module have a "Disable SEandroid" in Security Hacks, is in beta, not working on P605 KK (default kernel is compiled with default.prop config file made by Samsung).
PS: @ziotom2: This thread should be in "Original Android Development", shouldn't it? Better visibility?

You can do that yourself if you're rooted. Use the apps found on the playstore called System App Remover. The advantages of this app is that it comments on what is safe to remove and what isn't. The free version did such a good job on my Nexus devices that I bought the pro version just to support the developer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp
It can remove user apps also but that is less to your needs.
The best part is that it automatically backups what it deletes into a trash directory. This means if you accidentally remove something you shouldn't you can use the app to reinstall it. I used this feature on more than one occasion when an app would no long work (e.g. Gmail need a cloud print module).

That is good to know. Yes, I am rooted and have TWRP recovery.
I want to know what apps are safe to remove, and what aren't. With a tool that can tell me, that would be perfect. I don't have a samsung phone, so I have no use for sidesync, for instance.

Tried 1 day. For me not really more battery drain
Same on my side, it can be even better than before.
I think I have got the culprit....system_server process keeps my CPU loaded at all times and this traduces in having the four smaller cores active, this is why I have this huge battery drain.
Try Power Nap and Amplify @CoolZoneAlex
Nah....will wait until they solve the bugs out....issues with camera, very slow charging and this high consumption bug are a huge deal breaker for me....going back to 4.5.7 via TWRP.
It's a common bug on Android, had a lot of results on Google for system_server :/
Indeed, but that one is spread upon multiple Android versions so I find it a bit peculiar. Have you tried Flyme 5 Beta to see if this issue occurs on your terminal too?
No not now because my phone is bricked, I have my new motherboard this afternoon so I'll try soon

Let's use this thread to show/discuss layers themes and how they work with HTC 10!
LAYERS DESIGNED FOR HTC 10 Or by people with our device are in the 2nd post!
1. Here's the layers app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lovejoy777.rroandlayersmanager
2. You then need to install a layer theme from the playstore, go into the Layers app and apply SOME of the theme. Don't apply framework or system ui. Sadly, these won't work on HTC 10 at the moment. Choose the other stuff. Or, apply what you want and see if you get a bootloop. Fixes for that are below.... Feel free to apply any APP THEMES like themes for Chrome, Google Now, etc as those should all work with any device.
If you want to use a 'settings' layer you have to flash this in recovery FIRST https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424946196
Thanks to @maurydes for the zip! (NOTE: The icons won't change, but other elements will)
3. Reboot.
BTW the layers app might fc at first. Also, It requires root.
PROBLEMS? BOOTLOOP?
If you get a bootloop/constant fc after installing a layer, go into TWRP and go to advanced then file manager and delete the overlays folder here: Go to /system/vendor/overlay/
YOU NEED TO MOUNT SYSTEM in TWRP first.
So far it seems applying a FRAMEWORK will bootloop you. We're better off applying 'settings' (f;ash the above zip first) and specific app overlays (like hangouts, GNL, Gmail, etc) until a themer makes a framework layer we can use.

Well it doesn't work the way we want it to sadly. As I said in the OP, we can't apply framework and probably not systemUI either (I'm still testing themes though) so we're left with theming apps like in my chrome and play music screenshots.
I hope we can find some overlays that are fun and work with our phone but for god's sake don't apply a FULL layers theme and expect your phone to boot! Let me know what you guys find.
Not work for system apps but work for Google app,

Yeah the settings layers won't work really. They weren't designed for our settings. You can try WHITE background layers for settings and it will change the switch colors, but nothing else till we get support from a theme dev.
Hey guys, I just want to share another AOSP ROM that I found; Its a russian ROM, and the most stable a usable one I have tested.
*Compatible with xposed
*Menu button already set to show recent apps
*No GAPPS included (I flashed Open GAPPS pico and worked perfectly)
*Google camera working acceptably (not as fast as MIUI but better camera quality and stability than other ROMs)
*WiFi working at full speed (some AOSP ROMs appear to have a laggy wifi
*Bluetooth working fine (I'm using a MIband2 all the time with no problems)
*Multilanguage
Note: I flashed gapps right after the rom, the first start its a bit longer that the other roms (8 minutes in my case) after entering gaccount it delay a bit to confirm the account information, but after that works perfectly; you may install google web view system afterwards directly from the playstore.
Note 2: It appear to be a 3.4 version for this rom, but the links are down and probably wont work again.
Note 3: I'm just informing about this ROM cause I haven't read of it in this forum, I'm not the developer so, I'm not resposible of any problem you've got.

is cofface based?
after installing the update 3.4 zip, phone is stuck in MI logo
it works normally with me didnt face any trouble.
flashed through twrp 3.1.1.1 > aosp 3.3 > patch > 3.4

I wonder if I can use safetynet pass with this ROM, that is why I ask if it is support Magisk or not
on other aosp roms, my data sometimes show (!) marks, indicates the data is down, and I need to turn it off or activate airplane mode then turn it back on to make the data works (hoanguye and project x aosp rom). it never happen on global stable.
got any similiar issues?
ps: I know I should better try this myself, but it is not hurt to ask

Installed in the morning via PitchBlack-Recovery on DotOS-Extended 3.3.
Much better responsibility of the system, especially opening apps. Battery usage seems to be the same, but its now still to early to sum up.
DeepSleep has slightly increased.
I'm happy with the kernel, thank you very much!

Its not for miui i think,,, only custom rom like base aosp
I can use this kernel on xiaomi. EU rom?
Please add support for MIUI roms, many people use MIUI or MIUI based roms like xiaomi.eu and this phone dont have many support... we need at least 1 valid kernel for all roms.
stepchild is mi 8SE...
Please, can you upload it again? Link is broken
