[Q] Clear text count without viewing? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Mild annoyance
When you get couple of texts but can read them through the preview or the notification bar and swipe to clear. It doesn't count it as read and so it'll stay there next time until you actually go in and view the message. Waste of a few seconds
Any fix or way to mess with this?

I hope there's a solution for this.
Hi, One way is if you click on the Messages Home Screen tab with the green balloon you are then taken to the message, clicking on the message takes you to the conversation thread and hides the Messages Home Screen tab. If you hit the Back key straight away you are taken to the previous screen and the Messages Home Screen tab has been refreshed (no green balloon). That saves you about three and three quarters of a second (depending on your finger speed ). Damn, I had never considered this a problem, now you've got me thinking
I do as said there, open it and close it (same with emails)...altho it would be nice to set it to 0secs as I do in Outlook 2007

Window Transitions/Animation

I guess the question has come up already a dozen of times, but I wasn't able to find any relevant previous threads so here it goes...
I've read several times already it is impossible to add window animations to WM (6.5) .
However, when I open an email from the default MS email app that comes on my HTC Touch2 with default ROM, it clearly fades to the new email window. Even the closing "X" in the top right corner fades to an "ok" icon.
How is this possible?
Also, this app: (CRT fade out Animation)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843480
clearly applies effects to the screen image.
Someone please clear things out :/
It is possible quite easily, if you know where to search. I'd go on this with the same way I did my pinch to zoom project some time ago - hacking the app's WndProc and when message for eg swipe gesture to change message comes, grab screen content, fade it, send the message through, fade in and all other messages meanwhile just normally send through.
But remember, this takes a lot of code and it is not worth it, it would just slow down the WM itself.
Thanks, a lot, for replying.
I really want to look into this for some reason. So if you say it's possible...
I was also wondering if it's possible to catch all windows' close events...

New sent/received text messages are not showing up.

sms text messages are not showing up in the main conversation window. how ever they are being received to the handset and i can read them from the notification to a certain amount of characters and i can see the latest message before the main conversation window.
nexus 4 android 4.2.2.
First bug is more important to me.
Second bug is a software screen error (it is not the screen itself that is at fault)
I have small moving lines just below the clock. it shows up all the time 2 or 3px height and from battery to the right of the screen. seemingly random moving lines. blue/black. any rotation/screen shot still shows this error so as i said it rules out that its a screen issue/dead pixels.
- see attachment.
note: restarting my phone does not fix any of those two bugs.
p.s. my english skills are not great so sorry about grammar.

[Q] Text messages not lighting up lock screen?

So I just got an S4 on Friday, and I've been customizing things and playing with it all weekend. I haven't done any changing of the software like I usually come to xda to do, just played with the stock everything.
When I get a text, my phone doesn't light up, only the little LED does (I've seen the option to turn the LED on/off for notifications) and then when I turn the screen on manually by hitting the power button, I have to click the text message, THEN pick my finger up, go towards the bottom of the screen, and swipe it there? It's a total of 3 gestures (click, click, swipe) to open my phone to a recent text IF I hear my notification. Most of the time I'm gaming and have headphones on, or am watching TV or something and see the screen light up on my phone and go straight to the text.
My S2 I had last week showed up a little envelope that I swiped and it went straight to the new text message I received. This was after the screen lit up upon arrival of the message initially. This took 1 gesture of effort on my part to open a text.
Has anyone else experienced/noticed this, and if so, does anyone know how to fix this? If I'm not being clear enough please let me know. Thanks in advance guys.
that's generally the way all android phones work.
if you want to, download handcent and use that for your texting. you can enable the popup and customize how long it opens the screen for i.e. 5 sec 10 sec or 20 sec

I'll take your word for it, it's just that I've owned 2 android phones and 50% of them worked right and 50% of them are being obnoxious just to open a text. My phone lights up when someone calls, why wouldn't it light up when I get a text, like every other phone I've ever owned? I just feel really bummed about my purchase. Texting is 75% of what I use my phone for, and it's annoying as hell on this one. I'll check out handcent though, I really appreciate the suggestion. Thanks

If there's a way to just get stock to work right, I'd most definitely prefer that. If I HAVE to use some 3rd party app to text, I guess I'll settle for that.

Mate you're lucky. I hate my screen lighting up when I receive a text! So much so I installed a mod on my S3 to disable it.
But my S4 on stock ROM lights the screen up whenever I get a text.
I would suggest you to do a factory reset, that should sort it hopefully.

(Q) Notifications popping back onto screen after swipe down

Annoying feature to notifications so far is the forced choice of swiping left and dismissing from phone or swiping down to "keep" the card only to have it pop back up to the bottom of the screen 2 seconds later. Is there any way of avoiding the constant reappearance of cards I just swiped down? Example: I swipe weather down off my screen. A few seconds later is shows back up on the bottom of my screen and clutters my watch face. I just dismissed it, why would I want it right back?
I'm guessing this is just another area where Google is doing beta on us and will fix it down the road.
I've noticed that too... A kind of workaround is to stop the card-notifications from showing up on the clock. You'll have to swipe down to see them. Ofcourse, if something happends (a notification comes in) you'll still get vibrations etc.. The preview just wont show up on the bottom of the screen anymore.
It's in the android wear app.
Thanks. I want NEW notifications, but I don't need them to pop back up 2 seconds after I swiped down! Lol!
