[TRICK] Tap2Wake/Tap2Sleep in Note 2: Almost Real KnockOn/KnockKnock! {NEW} - Galaxy Note II General

Yesss!!!! the much awaited feature is not so far from us. You can Knock or Tap the screen to turn off and tap again to wake the device.
This trick is much useful and easy than our old method....waiting the screen to be auto off and then tapping to wake. In fact, It gives you real T2W and KnockKnock feeling!
And this as easy as 123. It needs only two things
Nadia kernel + Drketan's rom.
To make this trick work, You need just:
0. Rooted Note 2 device ( n7100)
1. DrKetan's Rom v7.3 or higher
2. Nadia kernel v r3 or higher
3. Little peace of mind
* While flashing Dr Ketan's rom (v7.3 or v8) in Aroma dont forget to select battery mod with tap function (on the upper corner) to turn of screen, this may not work if you select stock battery mod or other...flash the rom!
* Flash Nadia kernel r3 or 4 or higher
* In Trickster mod (this comes with kernel): Click upper left 3 dot menu to select Specific setting, there turn the s2w/t2w feature On.
***** And now the Knock-Knock or S2W is here ****
@ TO KNOCK OFF - tap at upper right corner of the status bar near Clock.
@ TO KNOCK ON - Tap anywhere on Screen
++++++++++Enjoy!!!!+++++++++++
Any credits goes to:-
@dr.ketan for his amazing AIO Rom
@Pafcholini for his and his team's Superb kernal
Note: this is not a hardware implemented original KnockOn, but its really almost same trick.
And Please.....
(please dont forget to click ( ) 'thanks' if you like this or if you find this info useful)

Unfortunately currently not supported with this method.
Howevwr if your LTE model has a rom with tap (on statusbar) to sleep feature, and a kernel with t2w feature then then this method will apply there as well.
But for now this trick is for n7100
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

Currently only for n7100

Does this have a limited time to tap to wake up? or you tap 2 wake it anytime that you want?

Currently it is supported for 120 seconds
Which is good time duration considering the battery...because this function (even original KnockOn and KnockKnock) increases battery cunsumption.
So 45-60 sec duration is recomended and most usefull considering battery and usability
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

Alternative method for others who want this feature is to use Double tap to sleep xposed module.
And to wake it up you can use the touch wake feature of any kernel.
In that way you can have knock on and knock off kind of functionality for every device.

nadia kernel not flashing. .what am I doing wrong?
I am somewhat experienced with the whole rooting flashing scene...I am wondering why nadia r7 won't flash over ketans 4.4.2 rom on my n7100. Using twrp latest version. I flash nadia and reboot .the Samsung note 2 screen comes up and then darkness. What am I doing wrong? Please help!

[mod][how to][ics & jb]disable capacitive buttons

I've seen some interest on the forums in how to do this. So here is a guide.
NOTE: This mod will render the capacitive buttons(hardware buttons) on your Nexus s completely inoperable. Use this mod only if you are using a custom ICS OR JB ROM with navigation bar(on screen buttons) enabled, or some other way to navigate your phone.
First, make sure that you are completely satisfied with the operation of the navigation bar & are certain that you have no need for the capacitive buttons.
DISCLAIMER: This mod involves editing system files. Use at your own risk. This mod will not magically make the navigation bar appear on roms that do not already have it enabled. This mod only disables the capacitive buttons. Instructions on how to disable the backlights for these buttons will be at the bottom of this post.
UPDATE : Just flash these zips.
To disable capacitive keys
http://db.tt/AyJLDkg1
To restore capacitive keys
http://db.tt/PhxFyBb3
And an init.d script for BLD to turn the backlights off (to the best of your BLD supported kernels ability anyway)
http://db.tt/BRpy78Cz
NOTE : Success will vary with BLD according to the capabilities of your chosen kernel. Some kernels are really good with bld responsiveness, others aren't. This has nothing to do with my script. And remember that you can't just choose a kernel based on how well it handles backlight settings. It's gotta run your whole phone too.
For those who want to do it manually.
1; Using Root Explorer (from market) go to system/usr/keylayout.
2; Mount system as r/w.
3; Long press on the file called mtx224_ts_input.kl.
4; Select 'open in text editor'. Scroll down and you will see these 4 lines:
key 158 BACK WAKE
key 139 MENU WAKE
key 217 SEARCH WAKE
key 102 HOME WAKE
5; Delete these 4 lines. Or alternately, just delete the lines for the buttons you want disabled.)
6; Press menu, save & exit. (Root Explorer will automatically create a backup of this file. It will be called mtx224_ts_input.kl.bk)
7; Now, make the same edits to the 4 lines in the file called cypress-touchkey.kl and save & exit.
8; Reboot.
Now you have no capacitive buttons(or only the ones you left intact in step 5 & 7).
Now, the backlights are still working. To disable these, flash a kernel that has backlight dimmer support(BLD) (I use GladOs) and use NStools(from market). Set BLD to on. And delay to 0. Done. No buttons & no backlight.
NOTE: BLN will still work even with BLD on.
To undo this mod you can either restore the original .kl file using the backup that Root Explorer automatically created. Just delete the modified .kl file and rename the .kl.bk file by just removing the .bk from the end of the file name. And reboot.
Alternately, you can just flash your ROM straight over the top. (of course, that means you'll have to flash your kernel & any other mods again too)
Followed this to the letter and my buttons still work... Any thoughts?

Hmm... are you sure you rebooted after making the edits? Which rom are you using. I've tested with AOKP build 27. And cm9 with evilisto's mod and both work fine. Are the button functions still working or just the backlights? If it's just backlights, make sure you set nstools to run on boot. If it's function that's still working, check the edited .kl file and make sure the edit stuck. If you are sure you've folowed to the letter and button 'functions' are still working it may be necessary to make the same edits in cypress-touchkey.kl as well. This wasn't necessary for me but it may be with your rom.

Glad it worked for you, although the cypress touchkey edit really shouldn't have been necessary, since that file only sets the function of those keys, not the status. Which rom are you using, so I can test some more? And thanks for the feedback.

I m using aokp milestone 4. I have to set my bld at 500ms with matrix v17 because if i set it to 0 it does not work correctly. Wish i could set it to 0. Any ideas to completely get rid of those lights?
I also had success deleting the lines from cypress touch key.kl. Thanks a bunch.

Milestone 4 is basically the same as build 27. Which is what I'm using. I have no problems with bld set to zero. As for disabling the lights, someone would have to write a boot script I think. I have no idea how. So if anyone wants to give this a go.....

Heres a flashable zip for disabling the capacitive keys.. It just includes the mxt224_ts_input.kl and cypress-touchkey.kl, modded for no capacitive funciton.

This may be related to hardware.. My dad's ns4g has super dim backlights, and mine are insanely bright.. But if we figure out how to disable them there may be a way to maybe bump up the brightness a bit without breaking them haha
I was just reading an article for LEDs hack.apk. Supposedly gives you control on/off for button bl. The dev says nexus s will never be supported because the button bl & screen bl are powered together. If that was the case, bld wouldn't work without affecting the screen. Evilisto made a reference to arrays.xml in framework res. Maybe the answer is here. I don't have a pc so I can't decompile it and have a look. Any takers?

[Q] get flashlight from lock screen like xenon rom

xenon rom had a feature that if you held down the unlock part of the slide unlocker on the lock screen that's on the middle bottom of the screen.. you could turn on the flashlight and it turned off when you let go (in case it's confusing its the thing you would slide around to unlock the phone but as long as you didn't go all the way right/left or whatever direction and just held that button, within 2 seconds the flashlight would turn on..
can't seem to find how to add it to other roms.. i've looked into other options from the play store but I like this one the best.. anyone know how to do it?
You could just use a lock screen target for the torch probably quicker. You can also with some launchers set the torch as an action e.g double tap turns it on.
Simple to do .
Just a thought, also some custom roms have the option on the navigation bar or quick tiles even the power menu . So many choices and you want a crap choice where you have to keep it pressed by hand. No good if you need that hand to open a door e.t.c

fair enough.. but i like it because it was mainly for navigating dark rooms.. rarely had many things in my hands.. and just needed it sometimes for a quick 10 seconds and could activate it without looking.. so for my uses.. wasn't really crap..
Only messing with ya I can see how it could be useful but haven't come across it on any rom or zip maybe see if you can understand how it was implemented on that rom and try and do the same on this . If I come across an app, zip or rom with it included I will let you know . J

double tap screen to wake up.

my device is xt1022 indian variant, i am om cm12.
Is there any app or zip file which can provide me double tap wakeup feature???
thanks in advance.
No.
Sent from my XT1063/64
Tap to wake is a function that must be added or developed from kernel. I can be done like it was on moto G, but it has to be developed.
So no, an app won't give you that functionality.
If it does, the phone can't enter deep sleep and the screen would be aways on. Something like that wold drain the battery too fast...

Double tap wake/sleep will not activate no way no how Kernel or not

I've tried elementalx kernel I've tried pure nexus settings Even chroma rom I can not get double tap swipe left swipe right to sleep or wake the screen.Even after a reboot .Stock ROM pure nexus ROM any rom?
The only way I can swipe to sleep is Nova launcher prime gesture settings.
But the issue there is when I attempt to wake screen it requires my pin code and not just finger print . I'd use novas method but I want to wake my phone with finger print only not having to use 4digit pin just cause I put it to sleep with swipe gesture .
Any fixes for the two methods or the double tap to wake sleep in kernel settings ?

What I'm ultimately looking for is double tap to sleep not wake within the system ui Not just the lock screen .Like the lg phones have then when I wanna wake I just wake with my finger scanner
I know chroma settings has this and elementalX kernel has settings there's play store apps.
All I want is a tap or swipe to sleep method
Do you have to reboot after installation of busy box first

Can you explain where I find just the tap to sleep gesture mode . All I wanna do is tap or swipe gesture to sleep and just wake the phone by long pressing the finger scanner which works already.I just need to activate a double tap to sleep gesture. It seems in display settings on purenexus rom it only offers wake gesture.
Do I need a new kernel a different app ?
Even the play store app is just a wake gesture

Usually it's sweep to sleep across the nav bar. Usually this is turned on in kernel control app. Under gestures. If you're kernel supports it.

Do you know what kernel might have a gesture setting within the kernel control section
Evidently pure nexus ROM doesn't
And elementalX kernel only opts to enable tap to wake.
Is this something in other kernels or ROMs?

Xperia Xz Premium Douple Tap to Wake (DT2W)

Fellows
I just saw this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnU6xMP8wmg
in which it said that SONY XPERIA XZP don't have DT2W feature!
can anyone confirm that? may be he was using unfinished version of the xzp...
its usually under SETTINGS>> DISPLAY >> TAP TO WAKE
please confirm
dt2w will be deal breaker for me! i won't buy if this feature is missing!!
sorry but i can't see the option in my display settings...
I can also confirm that this beautifull phone doesn't have DT2W
I will try to include tap to wake in my kernel. (after I receive my XZP...)
In fact, there is config for tap to wake and I think this can re-enable it if there is no hardware limitation.

GG!!! This means we'll have root goodies under your Tmark hehe. Without diverting too much from the topic, any clues on TA backup? Using this beauty without root (and hopefully Xposed soon) is half the joy.
@YasuHamed P.S. Double tap to sleep is also gone - that's on home.apk, but they might make a comeback on the next update.
On second thoughts
I am gonna buy this fone
Unlock it flash the kernals do the dt2w thing. Exactly the way i did woth my c6602
Btw, no news on ta.img yet
There is no known exploit or xposed on 7.x.x

if in next version of Xperia HOME, tap to sleep and tap to wake are there, then there is no need to play around
my guess is that because it wasn't working in XZ perfectly, where some time devices were not able to wakeup until you wait little longer for screen to sleep, they have removed it,
some one need to tell sony engineers! or who ever is the master mind of sony stock android for devices!
in 2017 the trend is
1. more ram
2. gestures features! ( camera, torch , tap to wake)
3. hide/ unhide navbar ( i.e physical touch navbar)
4. whatelse?

No.
Currently only my custom kernel can enable it.
Myabe Sony will re-enable DT2W when their problem (I don't know exactly) is fixed.
I wonder how much that feature, making the tactile layer constantly waiting for a signal is battery consuming..
C'est en faisant qu'on apprend
