hi there,
i have a s4 i9505 which has been rooted and is running davdh's pure nexus rom.
i've got a bit of a problem with the gps - it locks when i first turn on maps but loses signal subsequently. signal stays lost for a few mintutes (maybe 2-5, it depends) and locks for a second or two before the signal is lost again.
i've had a look at several forums and it seems like its a common problem for the S4 Active, S3 and Note II. those problems were fixed when some users flashed a different modem - there seems to be a consensus that the problem is caused by overheating caused by the radio.
I was wondering if anyone here had a similar problem with their i9505, and if so, did you manage to fix it?
also, might anyone recommend a fix/modem version that might fix this?
Cheers

Hello folks,
i have a problem with my galaxy s4. I am using CM11 and recently updated from M9 to M10. After this update the signal strength drops really bad and i cannot call. I returned to M9 and the problem is gone. I googled the problem but couldn't find anything. The newest nightlys don't cure this bug. Has someone experienced the same or/and has a cure for this?
Thanks for reading,
somasu
On stock 4.4.2 GNG8 there is same problem. When go to area with poor coverage sometimes phone radio hangs - zero bars (but no "no signal"), i cannot receive calls or connect to internet. I read that this is bug in android 4.4.2.
So i'll answer my own Questions by myself. After wiping Cache and Data and flashing CM11 M12 the problems are gone. I would recommend to do the same.
Hi there, I have an i9505 currently on cm12 - 20150304 Nightly.
I replaced the screen a few months ago and since then I have never been able to connect to 4g. I have flashed many roms include a return to pure stock but no software intervention has ever gotten a peep of LTE out of it.
I really don't know what else to try and I don't know what physical component could be causing the issue. H/H+ works fine and LTE was fine before I replaced the screen/digitizer. Has anyone got any ideas/suggestions?
Thank you for your time.
Hi all,
I recently upgraded from 4.4.2 stock rom to 6.0.1 stock rom and everything worked fine except the GPS. I tried a few different fixes like changing the gps.conf, and a few different apps and could see there was some signal but it could never seem to get a lock. Sometimes it seemed to get a lock for a split second then drop it again.
I ended up going back to my 4.4.2 and GPS works fine again. So the simple conclusion is this is firmware based. I'm no expert but would be willing to help if someone wants to investigate this further. There has to be some GPS related files from the KK firmware that can be exported to MM to make it work

GPS has always been kinda weak and slow due to the module itself. Did you experience the auto brightness bug as well?

Auto-brightness was working fine for me. Just the GPS issue noted.
Hi guys,
I've got an A2017G running A2017UV2.1.0B12 (So European running American firmware).
It's been working great for years, but recently the GPS antenna stopped fixing satellites. Previously the GPS was a bit slow, but I'm confident it was working to some extent. Now it's unusable.
It does see lots lots of satellites when I run the GPS status app, but does not lock to any even after resetting the AGPS data, recalibrating the gyro and accelerometer... I've tried installigh stock A2019G firmware and the problem was not resolved. I have made some hardware changes over time (battery and vibration motor), but I'm not sure the problem started after one of them. Yesterday I opened the phone and tried to identify the GPS antenna contacts, but wasn't sure which ones I had to look at. They all seemed to make good contact and I even tried forcing a contact with alluminium foil. Nothing. GPS Status reports the GPS sensor is working, not sure if that's reliable data. Does anyone know where the GPS antenna is?
I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue or maybe something went wrong with the firmware radios (not sure I fully replaced everything replaceable when I installed European software).
Any ideas? Thanks!
