Nexus 7 Screen broken, few questions! - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
yesterday i broke the screen off my Nexus 7. So there are cracks in the upper glass. The lcd is still working, but the touch (digitizer?) won´t work anymore. So my question is: Can i buy a new digitizer and repait it, or do i have to buy a complete unit with lcd?
And where to buy these things? I could buy a used N7 on ebay or a screen but that is to expensive in my opinion.
I love my N7 and i miss it!
Greets

You'd be able to but you'd have to refuse the digitizer to the LCD, so just buying the digitizer and LCD together and replacing the whole thing would be better

Do you have an idea where to buy? And is the broken glass on the digitizer or LCD?

Cracked LCD screen

I've cracked my N1 screen, it's the AMLOED one. What parts do i need to buy to replace it?
Just the screen? What about the digitizer?

Due to the special structure of AMOLED, you need to replace both the digitizer and the lcd screen because they are pressed together and can't be separated. If you are looking for it's screen, see my signature.

Not really, the adhesive used to keep the LCD and the digitiser comes off when heated by a hair dryer or something similar, there's a disassemble guide on the nexus one general thread that should help you.

Guide
Here is one of the guide's I used when I took mine apart to remove dust http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus-One-Teardown/1654/1
It's not too tough to disassemble. I've done it a half-dozen times at this point and it probably takes less than 20 minutes.
Good luck.

Front glass cracked

Front glass of my nexus cracked. Fell from approx less than half feet from my track pant pockets
The LCD display is all working well I just can't stand the crack I take my phone out.
It's there any replacement for the glass other than the LG's LCD and digitizer assembly? only the front panel ? I meant only the glass

Ouch...did you just get the phone? I noticed the factory SP is still on. Your best bet is to just send it to LG for a repair. Doubt you will save much, if anything, from repairing it yourself. Parts are expensive and rare.

Is it possible

As far as I know that may not be possible, because unlike old lcd touch screens, where the glass cover and lcd assembly are separate units, the newer phones have them as almost single unit. This gives more effective touch control and cause the high price for display. You may have to change the whole display even though your digitizer may be intact.
it is so unfortunate that our marvel cant even take such a small fall:crying:
On the same subject, any trusty online stores what we can buy the display unit?

Were you using any kind of case, or going naked?

The glass and LCD are glued together. I doubt you can only replace the glass.
I'm wondering if we should get tougher cases

No.
I just ordered the rear cover to keep as a back up for my nexus 4 from http://www.etradesupply.com/lg/android-models/lg-nexus-4-e960-parts.html?limit=40 it looks like is the cover from newer nexus 4 without the glitter pattern but If I ever have an accident with the rear cover I'll have a replacement in hand so I can repair it quickly.
A cheapie $1 TPU cover from eBay would've prevented that. It's a damn shame to see something like this happen, especially when it was only a two-feet drop.
Were you rocking it naked or with a case?
Also, the glass and LCD are glued together so you won't get out of this situation without shelling over $100 at the very least and getting it fixed yourself.

its around 125$ and shipping any other place where i can get it cheaper?

[Q] Which of the two spare parts to get?

I broke my N4's glass and digitizer. The LCD works fine, but no touch and lots of cracks on the glass. So I found some spare parts, but I do not know which exactly should I get: the LCD and Digitizer assembly (1), or the whole front cover assembly (2). Here they are:
1. http://goo.gl/3qYfp
2. http://goo.gl/A3RCM
I suggest buying the second as it will be much easier to fix, but both would work

Well, the price difference is the key factor here. I was wondering if they both had the glass and if they do I will get the cheaper one. Since labor in my country is not expensive replacing it will cost around $10 here.

Cracked Nexus 4

Hi guys, so my dad dropped his Nexus 4 and the screen cracked and is unresponsive. There is also a red discolored spot on the screen. I am just wondering if I need to replace only the digitizer or both the digitizer and also the LCD. Thanks guys and Happy New Year!

It's far, far easier to replace the entire front assembly. Digitizer is only $20, but it requires specialty equipment (more money) and a lot of skill to do properly (which you probably won't), Assuming only the digitizer needs replacing. The screen assembly is about $45, but still requires you to remove it from the bezel and glue it back in. $60 for one already inside a brand new bezel.
