I think i messed up.. lol - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Update::: - I think I figured it out. Thanks to WUG's Root Toolkit... much simpler than I thought...
I took a shortcut and I think I screwed up so I need some help getting back...
I went to install (on Grouper/Nexus 7/Wifi 16g) a version of Gummy. I don't have a lot of free space so didn't do a backup and did a WIPE, clear Cache and Dalvik. Went to install Gummy, but it got some symbolic error, so I wont load, but now I have no other rom's on the internal memory. So I have no way to load anything. And this tablet doesn't have external storage so no way to copy. I don't have any device such as OTG so I cant load there.
How can I get a Rom loaded into internal memory ??? I have Clockwork 6.0.1.0 on and I can boot into recovery (the only think I can do).
Help please... lol
Sorry, posted this in panic mode in the wrong forum, please move - any op's.

First of all, this is the wrong forum for this. Second, there should be an option in CWM called "ADB sideload". With it you can download a flushable zip to your computer, and then use adb to flash it. You'll need to have a usb cable, but it should effectively bring back your tablet.
Sent either from my potato phone, or my Nexus 7.

Cache partition issue - cannot wipe or mount

HELP! having multiple issues with Nexus S. Cannot wipe cache partition, and wont mount in recovery either. Also my built in storage is now gone. let me give you guys a quick overview of what happened:
We have a dev version of the nexus s (gingerbread version is not retail) in our office. We were having difficulty factory wiping the device (it would complete but nothing would erase) so someone decided to flash a different leaked rom for the Nexus S. The phone was basically a brick afterward. I managed to flash Clockwork on to the device. This is where I found that the cache partition wouldn't mount. Either would the SDCard (USB storage, whatever). I couldnt erase either partitions, and it also couldnt mount the USB storage (was going to try a nand restore from another thread). The only way i could get mass storage was by partitioning the "SDCard" through recovery. This managed to give me a 1 GB partition that windows would recognize (and would mount through clockwork) It wasnt formatted, so i did a quick format with windows, copied the nand backup and restored it to the device. it now boots, but with a few issues. First no data, second i cannot hard reset through menu, third we're having multiple FCs. FINALLY the worst, is still no USB storage. Wont mount USB storage at all. Sometimes device memory displays 3.5 TB (WUT!?). Cannot download any apps.
WHEW
Sorry that was really long. Basically, the phone is messed up, and I cannot mount or wipe the Cache partition, the USB Storage is now missing, and the Restored Nand backup is super bugged. Any ideas?
As a note
I've also deleted the cache partition and re-created through parted. still wont mount cache OR USB Storage
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm having this problem too. I want to install CM7, but I don't want to risk formatting the /system and /data partitions if the /cache partition refuses to format. You seem like you're having the same problem as I am having and I wonder whether this is done on purpose from Samsung to disable custom ROM flashing. (I got mine straight from Samsung too).
Has anyone solved this?
looks like I have this issue also ... looks like memory is corrupt ... I can't save any files when mounting the usb device ... When I disconnect, all the files disapear ... any ideas ?
have the same problem but i can't boot in android either it just hangs at google logo and if i boot in recovery i get this error (didn't flash any roms yet it happend after i flashed clockworkmode
i was able to boot andriod again with odin but clockwork still gives the cache error so i still can't flash anything else on it
Am still learning....but just a few quick questions....adb is still working?.....and computer makes connection sound when phone plugged in? Have you tried reinstalling drivers the flashing recovery and then nandroid.......for some reason when i had a simiilar problem....my phone would not flash any rom but only do restore for nandroid....
also can you access the usb storage at all? You say it dissappears after ?
well i was able to put my device in download mode and install a rom with odin and i can boot again, but after that i reinstalled clockworkmod and again it's giving me the cache error. i can't install/backup/restore/.... anything in clockworkmod i keep getting cash error.
ps. it's a new i9023 device running 2.3.3 stock
can you tell me what it says on your bootloader screen when you boot into it( assuming that you can)
fastboot mode
product name - hearing
hw version - rev 52
bootloaderversion - i9020xxka3
baseband version - i9020xxkb3
carrier info - eur
serial number - ... (if you need it pm)
lock state - unlocked
...
So whilst in bootloader you can flash recovery.img (I have the file if you need it)
eg...fastboot flash recovery recovery.img......
then can you access newly flashed recovery and maybe then restore.....I still dont know if you can access usb storage on the device
well yes i can access usb storge in clockworkmod (it's one off the only things that works in clockworkmod ) and if the recovery you have also is clockworkmod then it won't do much difference clockworkmod doesn't seem to find my cash or anything
btw i just saw there are 2 threads with almost the same around and looks like i posted in both don't know why but was pretty late last night when i posted seems the problem i have is the one in this topic (still no solution tough): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12204800#post12204800

Yeah so have you tried a nandroid restore then....Not a new rom installation!......a nandroid restore which was either a stock restore or a rooted rom in which cache was accessible....sorry if you have just want to check the obvious first.
have you tried flashing an older recovery of clockwork mod?
If you have then probably is just a new nexus S issue which needs a workaround?
oh yes tried nandroid restore first (got cache error during that aswel if i rember corectly, atleast didn't work)
only thing that worked was using odin from: http://www.samfirmware.com/apps/blog/show/6263048-nexus-s-roms-now-online-
after that i was able to boot the phone again and i did another clockworkmod recovery and got the same error that's shown in first post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12204800#post12204800
atleast i can access android now, i think there is maybe something different between the new phones in europe since some other ppl that bought their phone recently are having the same problem and it's only since this week you can buy them (well in belgium atleast, don't know about other country's)
i can try if you know where to find an older clockwork mod, i seem only to find "recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-crespo.img"

--AWESOME DISCOVERY-- (get root & CWM while internal sd corrupted)

Hello everyone!
I hope this is not old news but it seems i've made a discovery here.
I my GT-I9000M from bell was running Darky 7.0 with lagfix when my internal memory had been corrupted. (phone started to loop at boot)
I then went back to 2.2 stock rom from bell (froyo.I9000UGJL2) with odin and was stuck with the 3e recovery.
I wanted to use adb (first time with adb and powershell so started from skratch) to try some manipulations but while came back to stock 2.2 I've unrooted my phone... in short i wasn't able to use su command anymore...
I've found a post of someone that has made a custom ROM that can be flashed via ODIN (XXJP3 (Froyo) pre-rooted / insecure boot / ClockworkMod recovery) this is available here: http://loadbalancing.modaco.com/download.php?url=paul/galaxys/JP3.rooted.insecure.clockworkmod.zip
When I've extraxted the files, one of them was corrupted. So I've only used the file I9000XXJP3-PDA.rooted.insecure.clockworkmod in the PDA section and the 512.pit that came with it.
I'VE BEEN SCARED AS HELL AS THIS HAD REMOVED MY RECOVERY/DOWNLOAD MODE!!!!!
When I've started the phone, I got the GT-I9000M boot logo then the animated logo....Then windows made this little sound saying something just connected. In the "computer" section I was able to see (but can't acces) the 2 cards.
I then tried something in adb.
I've type
adb shell
reboot download (PHONE REBOOTED AND WAS IN DOWNLOAD MODE)
BEST OF ALL:
adb shell
reboot recovery (phone rebooted in ClockWorkMod)
So now I got root once again without need of the internal or external memory!!!!
Now i'm gonna see if this can help to FIX MY INTERNAL MEMORY SO I CAN BOOT INTO ANDROID!!!
If anyone can contribute to help me recover from my internal sd corruption by posting here a clear answer (NO LINK TO AN OTHER POST) i'll be very happy
Flash another kernal that has CWM and set everything back to RFS. Format the internal SD card and try and boot again. If you brick your phone for real im not responsible xD
1:Flash a other kernel with clockworkmod
2:do undo to ALL RFS at lagfix options.
3:format your internal SD
4:reboot and hope it works.
oh damn he was faster.... i was eating sorry for nuub post..

Can you give me more details on how to proceed to flash an other kernel without the use of the internal SD card?
and also can you suggest me an other kernel to use?

problem is: I don't have 3 button recovery...adb was giving me the access...
now that I can't use adb I can't force it.....
wish samsung will fix it....they gave me news today and are willing to help. gonna wait for them. if they won't i'll maybe try this:
Get Download Mode without 3-button combo using homemade JIG
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
One thing sure: NEXT PHONE WILL NEVER BE A SAMSUNG ONE.....AS SAME AS TV, WASHER, DRYER, REFRIGERATOR, OVEN, MICROWAVE OR ANY OTHER DEVICES MADE BY THEM......

Nexus S Issues

ok, first of all, i do not have enough post's to post this in the development section where it belongs...anyways, my nexus s is a complete mess. I had brainmaster's miui with the matr1x kernel running for 6 hours and my phone reboots and get's stuck on the boot up screen with the unlocked symbol.
i've tried many battery pulls and yet it won't manage to boot past that screen nor will it mount my sd card. i've been looking all over xda for a fix for this and i can't seem to get any solution to fix my problem.
i tried adb but im not sure if im doing it right or not because im using a mac.
anyways, any help will be greatly appreciated!!
and yes i tried the method where i download the nandroid backup and mount through cwr, but each time i try to mount my sd card to mount it fails, for some reason it only mounts if i have twrp recovery...

try mount "usb storage" also you may try and re-flash miui and not wipe cache ect. it might boot back up.
ok, but how can i reflash the rom if the sd card won't mount? is it possible through adb?

actually this doesn't belong in development section... it goes in Q&A. So yeah that post count limit is there for a reason
boot into recovery by holding volume up and power button and then selecting recovery and backup then wipe data/cache and start over and see if that fixes the issue.
Tried that as well, i began to research the problem more and it could possible that my nand is corrupt, so i might need to send it in under warranty? If this where the case would i just need to lock the bootloader?
reboot into recovery and wipe dalvik and try to reboot. Had the same problem but on cm7/matr1x and i wiped it and it booted, worth a try.

Half bricked Transformer

Hey there,
I have trouble! I was playing with chrooted ubuntu, busybox, and so..
Than, I started getting error in terminal apps:
sh: applet not found
WiFi stopped working.
I tried cold boot.. Did not help.
SDCard is not accessible. I decided to wipe it. In recovery I choosed Wipe Data/Factory reset.
But after that, still no WiFi. I can see networks, I can click on them, but it is still getting IP address..
I would like to flash the ROM, but how? Recovery cannot mount /sdcard!
What should I do? Thank you
(asus transformer, sbkv2, B80)
i just got over the same exact issues caused by the same exact thing.
The only way to fix it was to flash either stock or a modified rom. What do you mean recovery cant mount sdcard. If you have cwm installed just put a rom on your microsd and use cwm to flash it. If you dont have cwm yet then you can take the stock firmware off the asus website, put it on the internal or external sdcard boot the transformer like normal, and you will see a little exclamation mark next to the clock in the bottom right corner, click it and it will take you through the motions of upgrading then reboot and reflash. o you probably lost root access too, I know i did, so reroot when done if you want.
There's no such thing as "half-bricked". It's dead or it's not. Yours fortunately still does stuff so you can keep trying.
Could it be this sdcard is moody? Tried a different sdcard?
Alternative ways could be using nvflash while connected to a PC with the USB cable. There are many guides on this forum.
Good luck.

You do have an external micro sd card correct?
You can try Team Rouge's CWM recovery, it work with internal sd card.
There's a modified RecoveryInstaller here that will flash Team Rouge's recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22359727&postcount=218
After 2 days of trying, I did it
I rebooted it about 2 milions times. He did not see the SD card. But then he finally mounted it and I quickly installed ROM.. uhh..
So, it was my Asus Transformer's PMS or something
Thanks you guys. It was a fight
So.. I'm about to start tinkering with ubuntu on my TF101... I did this on my Droid 4 with no issues, the Tablet is next on the list... What exactly did you do to hose the tablet?
I just want to try to learn from your mistake.
Thanks.

Im completely stuck

today ive got my new tmobile g2. first think i did is to root and install twrp . ive downloaded custom rom and i made i mistake by wiping everything in twrp. And i dint know that i cant mount internal sdcard on my pc in twrp. now im stuck on twrp and bootloop. and cant install LGMLauncher i comes to the 75% and get stock on win 7 64 bit. please help i have no idea what to do now. any way i can mount internal sd card twrp or other solution ? thanks in advance
Sorry mate, I cant help you, Im just wondering why people chose TWRP over CWM recovery? TWRP seems.. Very risky. Wiping everything, breaking on OTAs, etc.
Wouldn't it be safer to go with CWM, assuming its out for your version though?
Didn't even bother with the stock rom huh??
It's such a nice rom too.
LG G2
I think your best bet will be getting ADB installed and get it working on your PC. You should be able to send the file via ADB (command-line) and have it flash while TWRP is running.
Help out google search: "adb push in twrp"
I also disagree with SweStag's opinion about TWRP. It's not worse or risky, just more geared toward a power user. I switch to it when they first got their Touch Recovery interface and I haven't looked back to CWM yet.

here is the guide to install cwm. this is also what i use. twrp has never worked right for me in the past, you may be able to install the cwm recovery image through your pc

if not likes you may have to kdz back to stock.

This worked for another person in a similar situation (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2492911):
Buy a usb otg cable and use a thumbdrive or better, get a microusb thumbdrive like this one:
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...Una2lIDP2w&t=1
Place the image of whatever ROM and mount it?
Or, by connecting the cable mentioned above it would allow you to get into download mode and then heading in this direction: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2471370
Good luck!
