AT&T I337. I have been having problems for the last few days with in call audio. The phone makes a call then it will make the little beep when the call is connected but I can't hear them and they can't hear me. The speakers and the microphone work on everything else as I have tested them. I tried using the headphone/microphone that came with the phone, not working with those either. The only way I can hear somebody during a call is to use a bluetooth headset. I was running |ROM|★GOLDENEYE★|►XXUGNE8◄|Xposed|►34◄|6.14.14 when this started. I did search and tried everything that was suggested in multiple threads but nothing has helped. I flashed back to stock, still didnt help, did a factory reset. Nothing is working. Any suggestions would be appreciated

You're on mf3 firmware now so safestrap is the only recovery you can use. No twrp or cwm anymore. If I was in your shoes I'd up date to nb1 firmware. There is a new easy easy to root it called towelroot. The Odin file to update can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50912149
Lett me know if you have questions

If I go NB1 then Safestrap is also the recovery used?
Just in case anyone else runs into this problem, my situation was fixed. I called AT&T and we went through the usual scripted troubleshooting, the rep turned it over to their network engineers. The engineers apparently found a bad antenna causing an area outage, it took them 3 days but they did get it fixed and my phone is functioning properly again.

Yes. Nothing but Safestrap past MDL until an exploit is established.

I just picked up an s4 from att today. Ive been playing with it for about an hour and I definitely want to root the phone and remove all of the bloatware. Ive read online that there is no way to fully remove all traces of rooting this phone when needed for warranty reasons. Ive also read that att will still honor the warranty even if the phone is rooted. Does anyone have any info on this? Im experiencing a little lag here and there with the phone and am honestly not as jazzed about it as I thought I would be. If I root the phone will I still be able to switch for another phone if I choose to within 14 days and will att honor my warranty if I keep the phone and something goes wrong with it? Im in the US.
Well I had the s4 from release day,and have both root and a custom ROM.a couple weeks ago my WiFi decided it didn't wanna live no more so I flashed stock ROM through Odin and WiFi was still not working so I took my phone into the warranty center he flashed stock ROM again and it still didn't work so he just swapped it out for a new phone right there....
Long story short just unroot and flash stock ROM and you should be good to go

That can only be done if the phone hasn't been updated to mf3. There is no flashable firmware for that one.

I asked ATT customer service if rooting voided the warranty. I was told rooting does not void the warranty unless rooting caused the damage. The example the rep gave me was: If you root and phone overheats as a result of rooting, then they wouldn't cover that.

Thanks for all of the replies! They're very helpful. How can I tell if my s4 has the mf3 firmware and what exactly is the difference between mf3 and the other?
Just wanted to add that the last three digits for my baseband are mdl so im assuming I dont have the mf3 software as of yet. I have a software update available. Should I update or just root the phone as it is now?

If you want to be able to root AND flash ROMs, do not update to MF3. There is no method for loading a custom recovery for phones that have updated to MF3.
There is a thread in the General section about rooting an MF3 phone, but at this point you won't be able to flash a ROM.

to use with straight talk, and I just have to bug you all with a few questions.
The basics: I have an active Straight Talk sim card that I want to put in my galaxy S4 that I just purchased (did not know it was Sprint until it was too late). Now, after hours of trying, bricking, unbricking, rooting and getting false hope from the [HOWTO] / [GUIDE] SPH-L720 Domestic SIM Unlock T-Mobile:AT&T:metroPCS:Straighttalk thread (which I assume would be my answer to my problem if not for the fact every attempt at flashing to mf9 bricks my phone because Odin fails everytime), I don't know what to do.
As of right now, my Sprint GS4 has been factory reset to Android V 4.3, baseband version L720VPUEMJA, with the model # SPH-L720. Can I even achieve what I want to do with these parameters and is there anyone out there willing to give me hand?
Thanks for any replies!
First you didn't completely read through the thread, secondly you can't go back so to unlock you need to flash a MDC modem and follow instructions

I mean. I read a lot. I'll be the first to admit I just may not have picked up on something in those 35 pages. Also, i believe I tried to flash my modem through the Odin one-click, but the process would hang when trying to establish the connection. I know the answer is on this forum somewhere, and I can usually follow these type of tech tutorial fairly well, but I'm just stuck. Do you have any specific advice?
If you are on the OTA MJA modem with MJA bootloader with Knox I do not think you can downgrade to any other previous modem without the issues you are describing with bricking and soft bricking.

You wouldn't have a link to that modem file? Maybe I was trying to us the wrong one. I was using "SPH-L720_MDC_Modem.tar.md5", and the program would just stall.

You can downgrade let me find a link
First unlock for international use: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415587 follow that guide then go over to domestic and get a unactivated sim card to make sure its working I used T-Mobile unlocked it then canceled my sprint contract. Only downside is for aosp ROMs you have to do a couple edits for them to work
And always run Odin as admin

Hello XDA.
I have a:
Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M (IT'S EITHER A BELL/ROGERS PHONE)
BASEBAND VERSION: I1337MVLUAMDJ
KERNAL VERSION: 3.4.0-1529758 [email protected]#1
BUILD NUMBER: K0T49H.1337MVLUFNE1
The problem is, I had rooted my phone long time ago and wanted to recently unroot and update to the latest KitKat version (I was on jellybean). It would not let be update because it said the device was modified or something of that sort. I tried to unroot by following a tutorial online and flashing with a stock rom.
I did exactly as it says but now my phone is totally messed up. My Wifi no longer works, the apps keep crashing and nothing is working like its suppose too. I do not know what to do to fix this. How do I return my phone back to factory settings as if it is brand new? I have tried flashing stock roms 3 times new (3 different ones using ODIN) and nothing seems to work. I have tried samsung kies and it is still doing the same thing!
Please help.

No, it would not be the case. Odin flashes the entire firmware, kernel and all. Sammobile is an official site for the firmware so if it doesn't work you might have a hardware issue. But wait for the download.

I had a rooted S3 SGH-I747 with Android 4.1.2. I sold it, and now I have a S4 SGH-i337 with Android 4.3.
I just want to root the phone, I am not interested in putting a custom ROM on it -- though maybe in the future.
Should I leave it at 4.3, or is it recommended to put a version of KitKat on it and then proceed to root it?
I did a quick software update check from the phone, but it said there were no updates. Does that mean I'm stuck at 4.3?
Thanks

So the S4 at 4.3 is not rootable, unless I use the nb1 rootable tar file to make it rootable, is that correct assumption?
Apparently I need to read more on the subject. I was hoping it would be as easy as it was on my S3. I guess the difference is that the S3 was rootable, while the S4 requires additional work to make it rootable. Of course correct me if i'm wrong, as I'm probably still not getting it.
Thanks

Can I reflash the same firmware over itself? I flashed my phone using the i337 nb1 rootable tar file you linked me to.
I ran into a problem, long story, it's in another thread I started.
Anyhow, everything was working and had it successfully rooted and my apps reinstalled. Now I'm locked out thanks to a glitch in a app called Unlock with WiFi. I have entered the wrong password 35 times and it still will not ask me if I want to reset/wipe the phone. Isn't it suppose to ask you after so many attempts?
The problem is I set a one letter password in the app, I mean it is convenient and the app allowed me too. Also it worked fine on my S3.
I did the same for the S4, but apparently with this firmware version, the lock screen doesn't like one letter passwords. If I type less than four characters and press enter, it erases what I typed. So it makes it impossible to enter my one letter password. If I type four characters or more, followed by return, I get Wrong Password.
At this point I give up, I just want to start over. I sent an email to the developer yesterday morning, but he has not responded.
Thanks again
Mike

If you are concerned that you flashed the wrong firmware then you can use this app to check you firmware called "Phone INFO ★Samsung★" on the Play Store. It also is good for checking Knox warranty status, old firmwares for your Samsung device, and other info about your device.

Since going to 0A8 my cell signal sucks. Is there a way for me to check that I flashed the correct files in Odin when I moved up to OA8 from safestrap. I flashed the OA8 firmware tar.

same here... ever since I updated I've been getting more frequent connections where its very staticy and missed calls that don't even ring. Coupled that with my phone running hot, draining through my battery, and extreme lag occasionally, I had to revert back to KK. Not worth the difference
It's a pain in the ass but I wound up just using hangouts dialer and make voip calls when needed. Doesn't help incoming but it's a start

Couldn't you just flash the old modem only back?
I thought your modem had to match what base your on.
I didn't have to be when I was using KK. I was able to flash just the modem only without any ill effects.
