Cannot see my items on my Nexus storage - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok something weird just happened. I am using TWRP and I backed up my current ROM. I went to wipe via TWRP to install a new ROM and it just rebooted my device instead of wiping it. So I decided to upgrade TWRP to the newest version (as I had 2.6.2 or such) to see if it was the version of TWRP I was using. I downloaded it via GOO and installed it and I rebooted and it took the device a long time to reboot. It then acted like I just installed a new ROM which I did not...I still had my custom boot screen...I then connect it to my computer and it shows that I only have 1.12 GB of storage free yet I do not see ANY of my files. It looks and acts like a brand new device yet it shows that I am using 11 gigs of storage.....I have NO CLUE how to get it back to the way I had it...any advice? I was going to try a wipe but TWRP just reboots and does not wipe anything. I do not want to loose my files but at this point it looks like I am going to.

I ended up wiping my entire device and starting new. I am glad that I use Foldersync.

[Q] Screwed up a rom install - new installs don't detect sim/battery stats - fatal?

Hi everyone
Not sure how, at which point and why, but I've screwed up installing new rom, and now while I can install whatever I want, latest CWM 5.5.04 installed, new roms while do start just fine, don't detect sim, battery shows at 0% full stop, etc...
It started with me wanting to update to latest Elite Rom 9.7 based on MIUI by Terramino. Tried 2 versions, multiple re-downloads, every time it would try to install from zip and just returned the install aborted, bad zip message.
At this point phone is wiped to factory reset, dalvik cache wiped, cache wiped, /system mounted and formatted, so ok, need something else...
Downloaded MIUI 2.1.20 (2.6.35 kernel like the one before reset), and that's when I noticed the problem, thought maybe didn't wipe something correctly, so again factory reset, wipe cache, format /system, retry - same issue, after that it's always the same result whether I use CM7, MIUI or whatever.
Following few threads loaded the 5.5.04 CWM in the end, and to my surprise to add to the problem - now when I mount SD card from within CWM to system - it shows with a cd icon in the system and is now read-only, so can't even add anything to it seemingly.
Booting to pink screen still gives debugging access to internal SD card of the phone via usb.
Any ideas from knowledgeable users as to how to fix this problem? Help greatly appreciated!
That elite rom is only for .32 kernel
you flashed it over official gb that's the prob
Sent from my U8800 using XDA Premium App
Thanks, figured that this was the case, just not sure why after trying to load back newer roms meant for .35 it's still messing it up.
Will do full reload of a kernel and get a proper rom to follow suit, hopefully it resolves the issue.

Trouble with Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 (SCH-i905)

My friend rooted his Galaxy Tab, and attempted to install a custom rom on it. For some reason, he flashed a jelly bean gapps zip, and now all of the google apps force close (still on the stock rom). This happens even after a full wipe and factory reset, since I would assume the wrong gapps has still been flashed. I downloaded ROM manager from the tablet's browser and tried flashing CWM recovery, but when I reboot into recovery, it just shuts off, and after a while, it's reverted back to the stock recovery (where I can't install zip from sdcard). In addition to this, for some reason, the tablet never gives the option to view files and folders on PC when connected via USB, so I can't even copy the zip files over (USB debugging is enabled). There isn't even any mount/unmount options in the storage settings.
What's going on here, and how can I fix this? As of now, it seems I can't do anything and I may just give it back to my friend.

If you're looking to restore the tablet back to original purchased state then check out this thread here:

Install Kies before using Odin as that will give you the proper drivers assuming you're using a Windows PC. The drivers will install the first time that you have Odin set up and you have the tablet in download mode. More than likely, even though you clicked start, Odin will sit or hang like it's waiting for something. If it sits for a while without doing anything at all, early on, close Odin and restart the setup process again. This time around the drivers are already installed and it should go smoothly from there. The tablet will restart on its own when its finished and after long boot you'll be greeted by the intial setup. It should naturally do about 3 software updates once setup is complete. That means that it will download the 1 update at a time and ask you if you want to install. After each reboot you should see more downloading activity until updates are complete I recommend after the very first boot you shut off mobile data and use Wifi only as these updates may munch up data...
Good luck.:fingers-crossed:
Wow, I really appreciate your response. I'll try this out later today, and post back with what happened (Can't right now as I'm at work). Thanks for your help!

[Q] From stock to CM - Old folders still there

Hi there. First of all let me say my experience with custom ROM is all about the Galaxy S i9000.
After switching the official ROMs on my Find 5, which can be done just with the zip and no rooting, I decided to install the latest CM Nightly.
Here's what I did, in order:
- installed Framaroot and used the Gandalf method -> success, got SU and rooting
- installed the "Recovery Tools - Flash" or something like that from the Play Store
- installed CWM from the app, which is the latest touch version
- connected the Find 5 to my pc and put the CM and Gapps zips in the root folder
- rebooted to recovery, wiped Dalvik and factory reset then installed CM then Gapps zip
- wiped dalvik + factory reset again
- turned on the phone
Now, the ROM works BUT here's my problem: every folder created by the applications while I had color ROM, and the apps themselves, are still there! I still have the pictures, the 2-3 apps I left on the phone and everything else.
So my question is:
HOW DO YOU CLEAN EVERYTHING ON THE PHONE TO START COMPLETELY FROM SCRATCH while installing a new ROM?
I'm a fan of fresh installations, I don't even use backup software since I keep few core apps on my phone.
Back on the Galaxy S I just connected it, phisically deleted every single folder on the phone from the pc and put the CM + Gapps zips on it cause the S i9000 recreated the basic folders on itself.
I didn't do a wipe sdcard from the CWM because I red somewhere that on the Find 5 it deletes core system components to so you'll have to unstuck your phone loading the base recovery and an Oppo firmware from your computer...the fact is this way I don't have a fresh installation.
So what, and when, should I do to clean EVERYTHING like I did with my Galaxy S to be sure when I first boot a new ROM I only have the very basic folders Android and the ROM needs to be loaded?
I'll have a work meeting tomorrow so I didn't try the sdcard wipe to avoid staying without a working phone but I installed the very core apps only here so if I need to re-flash everything or wipe something I'm ok with that, I already backed up manually the old contents of the ColorROM(pictures and stuff) so I have nothing but the basics and WhatsApp on the phone right now.
No one? I know it may take a while but I'm kinda stalling to get my phone back to work completely cause I'll probably have to wipe something again to delete everything :/

[Q] !HELP PLEASE! I think I bricked/boot loop my LG G2

Ok, so when I got my LG G2 the first thing that I noticed was the notification drop down menu and I really didn't like it as I prefer the stock android one much more. So I decided that i was going to root it, install TWRP and then install CM12. None of these went too well but defiantly the last one went the worst. I used the one click LG root application for pc to root it, I was a bit scared of this but it went alright. Then I tried to install a custom recovery and figured that I would use rom manager to install CWM recovery but for some reason after that it just booted into stock android recovery. After getting annoyed by this I looked for another app and settled for AutoRec to install TWRP and it worked fine. I booted into it all ok and I was happy. So I charged it up to 90% as some people say you need at least 80% to install a rom. I downloaded the latest CM12 nightly from their website and then the Google apps and saved them into a folder I named cm12files. I booted into recovery and did a ?Nandroid? backup (I think) and saved those files to both my phone and now onto my laptop. I wiped Dalvik Cache, System, Data and Cache. Then clicked install and selected my cm12 download. Then it came up with 'e:error executing updater binary in zip' and said that the install Failed. I googled the error and some post said that I should reboot it or something and as the retard I am I did that and as I have wiped it there is no android so it just showed this (tinyurl link: o2sylpp (if you dont want to click it it is just the lg boot logo)) then this (tinyurl link: nsduxck (if you dont want to click it it is just the lg logo with a message saying security error)) and keeps doing it over and over again (they are not pictures of my phone but they are exactly what my phone shows. Is there anything that I could do? I don't really mind if I get the LG android back.
Answer
Oh I fixed it. When I plug the phone in and then unplug it, the phone turns off and when it was off I held down the volume down and power until the lg logo popped up. I then just for half a second let go and pressed them both down again, a reset screen should come up but it didn't work so I just selected NO and it booted me into TWRP. From here I selected restore, chose by nandroid backup and it all worked!!!

Note 3 N900W8 (Canadian Rogers) Internal SD Card Malfunctioning

Hi,
So I have a Note 3 N900W8, Stock 4.4.2, rooted with SuperSU & the usual xposed & busybox config.
I had TWRP working fine but I hadn't gone to recovery in a while, probably a few months or so & when I went a few days ago somehow recovery had reset to stock recovery.
I usually download TWRP off their website & install using a terminal on the phone itself. But the TWRP website wasn't working so I couldn't download the file, so I installed TWRP (the latest version for hltecan) from TWRP Manager which is on the PlayStore.
It got installed just fine & TWRP loads up perfect. Right after that I wiped my cache & dalvik/art. That also went just fine.
But since then, my internal SD card has been going nuts. The phone turns on perfect, everything works, apps still function for the most part. What isn't working is, SD card is not entirely readable I think & definitely not writable through apps.
ES explorer shows the sdcard as blank in every location (not a single folder).
Titanium backup doesn't even load up, just stuck at loading screen says loading app data.
Lucky patcher says SD card not mounted
Camera doesn't work, can take pictures but they of course don't get saved & videos say recording failed.
I'm guessing a factory reset would probably fix it, or not. But before trying that I want to know if there's any other way?
Please help!
Thanks!
Cheers!
Personally, I would flash the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com, set up the phone to make sure everything works, then flash TWRP and a custom ROM of your choice.

Hey yeah, exactly my thoughts, unfortunately sammobile hasn't been working for a while I think, their free servers are down :/ But 5.0 is finally available for the Canadian Note 3s! Should get on that!
But anyhow, I found the fix, there's this app on the PlayStore; Int-SdCard Write Fix (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vinny.intsdfixer&hl=en), does the trick! I'm guessing it's just a small bit of code but bloody brilliant!
