Just a heads up that Towelroot works perfectly on the Verizon G Pad. I just had to download supersu from the play store.
Wish I would have read this before rooting the "hard" way. Great find.
Great News
Thanks man for the heads up. I just rooted my g pad. Thanks again.
Works perfectly on v500 too...

Yep it works perfect, dont forget to make a donation. I used it on my Gpad V500 and on my G2.
Awesome sauce. I just used towelroot on my s5 and thought i would check into this device.
If only we could get the 4.4.2 update from Verizon. They probably wanted to make sure they could patch any exploits that may pop up.

The Play store says that the GPe phone can work with sprint. Is that still the international version of the device? If so, does LTE work? I'm confused because we have the ROM, but we're still having trouble getting everything to work on our network.
Thanks everyone

No, it won't run on CDMA networks. Only for GSM networks. That is a reason as to why we are having such issues getting things to work properly on a ported version of S4 GE ROM. It WOULD be nice though.

Talk about debbie downer, it would be great if it would work, i am coming from the gnex, and use google wallet quite often. CM10.1 would be great too but that is for a different section
The Sprint version of the G2 has been uploaded so hopefully someone can obtain Google Wallet access for other G2 variants.

I used tap to pay on my Att s4 last week. There's an up to date zip you just load from recovery and it works fine.
It's not a build.prop change. It's taking binaries on the sprint version and porting it over.
Any updates to this?, would love some tap and pay action on this G2

Thanks. Works like a charm. Got my 32 Red N5 several days ago and was really disappointed to see the lack of support for kitkat from t mobiles vm through the play store. Installed the apk manually and it pulled up all my vms. Thanks.
There is already a tmobile Voicemail app thread in here if you guys actually wanted it you could have searched. Thanks OP for the apk though but check out the thread posted right here in the theme forum.

I found it on sale for $229.99 and BestBuy will match it.... I've just been a little skeptical about getting a product that is at its EOL.

4.4.2 is available for it and that is probably as far as most 2013 tablets will get. If your really worried about out dated, buy a nexus.

The sd card is useless in kit Kat ..you are not allowed to write to external storage such as sd cards in kit Kat 4.4.2 So you should buy a tablet with 32gb or 64gb of internal storage without option for external storage. But LG G Pad 8.3 is also good tablet.

Sorry, but I mean without root, you can't write to external storage card in kit Kat. And I am not looking to root my G Pad, because many people are reporting issues after their G Pads are rooted.

G Pad may not accepts future firmware updates from LG if you have currently root on your G Pad. That's why I am afraid to root my device.

You do realize that there has only been one firmware update in its history? Furthermore, even if there is one, you can be certain a version with root and recovery will appear here in 24 hours that can be flashed. I am running stock and use a flashable version.
I received the kitkat update yesterday. After reading about the sd card issue, I tried saving a pic to my 64g sd card and had no problems. I even deleted a pic from the card. This is a nice tablet snd I hsve had several android tablets. Go buy and enjoy. ?

Why would anyone be hesitant to root if you are posting on XDA? Seriously, it's like showing up for a swim meet and being afraid of water......just sayin'. Seriously, just grab the tablet. It's solid!

I did it!!
Okay well I went ahead and pulled the trigger!!!!
For the price I could not find a better tablet!!
I ended up getting it for $229.99 at BestBuy (They priced matched NewEggs sale)
That being said, I am really impressed with everything.... the screen is great (yes I did look at the Galaxy 8.4 Pro but dam the price) and it is really smooth!!!!
BTW..... I was going with the White but changed my mind and got the Black and love the color

So, to summarize responses to your posts:
1. SD Cards on Kitkat will work with a simple fix.
2. Rooting does not "break things". It's really kind of the normal way to use an Android device.
3. As far as not being able to get OTA updates after rooting, that's somewhat correct, but the better way to update is not with OTA but with a prepared flashible file that comes with root.
4. Rooting is as easy as it can be. Very simple and more or less idiot-proof.

That is an accurate summary. I'll just add that for root+recovery the method that gave me no headaches was:
JB (4.2.2) - Dalingrin and then TWRP 2.6.3.2 (if you have JB, I strongly recommend doing this before going to KK, even if you plan to use stock)
KitKat (4.4.2) - IOroot 2.5 then TWRP 2.7 (a special build for KK)
