So we all know MWC is approaching soon... Samsung will announce the new SIII...
What are your predictions for the specs for the next Gen of Galaxy S?
Please post specs that you'd think will appear on it, not what you want on it,
e.g - quad core, 4D 1080p display, 4gb RAM, SuperDuper Plus AMOLED Display etc are unlikely tto come
What I think, based on leaks etc:
(*) 4.3" screen
(*) qHD Super Amoled Plus
(*) Possibly 3D display
(*) Dual Core 2nd Gen Exynos CPU @ 2Ghz
(*) 1GB RAM
(*) Same 16GB Storage
(*) 12MP Camera, Front Facing 2MP
(*) Thinner Design
(*) Possibly Lighter
(*) Smaller size (smaller footprint)
(*) Slightly Larger Battery Capacity
(*) TouchWiz 5.0 + ICS 4.0.3
So, I don't think it will be a earth shattering upgrade, but a decent one.
Please post what you think will be on the Samsung Galaxy S III
No one would buy that phone with those specs, the nexus/rezound already sport 720p, the sgs3 needs that at the minimum.
16gb storage was nice 2 years ago, it needs to be bumped upto 32gb now.
Ah, I guess I made a mistake!
I thought qHD was the same number of pixels as 720p. I guess not!
I dont think there will be an sIII in my opinion think they may change it to something new
With the HTC edge and zeta set for early 2012 I think it'd be a good idea for the next galaxy to have quad core, 720p screen minimum and at least 32gb internal memory with sdxc micro SD card support.
sent from I9100 using Omega
various Korean tech and news websites suggests that Galaxy III will have
1.8Ghz Quadcore Exinos 4412 Processor
2Gig RAM
4.65" Super AMOLED + HD display
LTE and other standard connectivities..
There are also speculations that Samsung may not have GIII ready for WMC
samsungmobileus tweeted that what would be the next next big thing in 2012?
so get ready...

PLASTIC BODY Love it or hate it. Samsung really loves plastic/polymer..
(*) 4.5" screen
(*) FULL 1080p HD, Gorilla Glass Super Amoled Plus screen
(*) Dual Core 2nd Gen Exynos CPU @ 2Ghz
(*) 1GB+ RAM
(*) 16GB Storage
(*) 10MP Camera, Front Facing 2MP
(*) Same size in thickness
(*) Possibly Lighter
(*) Full plastic body, of course
(*) 2000 mAH Larger Battery Capacity
(*) TouchWiz 5.0 + ICS 4.1.0 !
(*)4.5in 720p HD OLED + screen
(*) Gorilla glass v2.0
(*) Dual core 2nd GEN Exynos 2.5GZ(OC,ed)
(*) 2GB of DDR3 RAM
(*) 32-128GB of Storage
(*) 16MP,2MP ( The leak of a 16MP cam by samsung)
(*)BlueT v4
(*) HDMI v1.4 at 3GZ for 4k video out. (I hope)
(*) water resistant (I think the razr set the bar on this. I will buy the phone if true.)
(*) Mali-T658( I hope, but the T604 is more likey.)
(*) LTE 700MHZ/800MHZ
P.S I can't wait to see one even if I will not buy one.
What I want is a quality sound chip like we did in first Galaxy S, the rest is detail.
Regards

There is no such thing as Gorilla Glass v2.0.
The Razr just has Gorilla Glass. Nothing more special than the Gorilla Glass on any other phone.
I think I'd be happy if it just had the follows:
* Either QuadCore or 2.2Ghz+ clocked Exynos processor
* 2GB Ram
* 720p OLED screen
* More than a day's battery life, and replacable
* Hot-Swap MicroSD
* 4G Option for the UK (Spectrum is auctioned in October in the UK, trials have been running since Q3 last year!)
* NFC
* Same dimensions as S2 (I don't think the phone needs to be above 4.3" for a phone with a 720p screen!

+1 !! If the SGS3 gets anything as good as the Wolfson DAC in the original SGS and not the crappy Yamaha like in the SGS2, that'll be possibly the most beneficial thing for future Samsung customers!
Moving to General as has nothing to do with the S II

Oppo Unveils World's First 1080p Smartphone
12:00 AM - September 12, 2012 by Tuan Mai - source: Phonearena
Chinese manufacturer to release 5-inch smartphone with a whopping 441 PPI screen.
ZoomWhen you think of smartphone titans the first company that comes to mind may be Samsung or Apple. But despite their record high smartphone sales, neither company has achieved what Chinese phone company Oppo has. After releasing the world's thinnest smartphone and the world's thinnest quad core smartphone, the company is back again with the world's first 1080p smartphone.
Dubbed the Oppo Find 5, the 5-inch smartphone features a whopping 441 pixels per inch (PPI), making the iPhone's 326 PPI retina display look like an Etch A Sketch toy from the 60s. Resulting in a crisp 1920 x 1080 display, the Oppo Find 5 knocks the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2 out of the water. Even better, the Oppo Find 5 has just as much beauty on the inside as it does on the surface.
The device is going to ship with Android 4.1 on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor. To get an idea of how powerful this chip is, the APQ8064 easily beats the Exynos 4412-based Galaxy S III and Tegra 3-based Nexus 7 on a number of benchmarks. Other rumored specs include 2GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front facing camera, 16GB or 32GB of storage and a 2,500mAh battery pack.
No word on pricing or a release date just yet, but we'll keep you posted. Until then, we'll just have to hope for a global release so we can all enjoy this promising smartphone.

I`am also interested in the Huawei Ascend Quad D and it`s successsors.
Lets hope 2013 will be the start of a revived playing field and many new players joining so we can have more to choose from at reasonable prices
They used quadrant, how qualified do you think they are to say that the S4 quadcore is "Better" than the Exynos 4412???

As i`am beeing a longtime Samsung user and most of the time satiesfied, it is exciting and more important necessary that when more parties are entering with good smartphones that is good for us consumers. It might keeps the big three (Samsung, Apple and HTC) pushing the envelope and produce even better and maybe more price fiendly smartphones. So this is not only related to the S3 forum but for all android devices forums. I as a consumer want the best in quality/price related phone. That doesn`t have to be a Samsung, HTC or any other device per se.
It's harder to sue a Chinese company for patent theft so the way things are going the Chinese companies might be the only real chance to risk some future innovation.

So years of hard work by major players are not worth considering if a new mobile with a killer spec arrives? Releasing a mobile is one part, reliability and software support is another part.
If these Chinese players can do then I'm sure samsung or any other major players can do the very same
1080p sounds jaw dropping, I really doubt the performance of graphics with that resolution. Do exynos5 or adreno 320 has enough power to do so.? Considering the iPad with powervr graphics I think it might be possible.

Exynos 5(CPU), Mali-T604 (GPU) has plenty of power to push the 1080P screen, has a huge pixel by pixel ratio it can push (2560X1600 to be exact)

Useless

It's an overkill.
Plus it will take an impact on battery.
Um the actual human eye can distinguish up to 1400dpi at smaller distances, don't fall for the urban myth.

High End mali will be of t-658 which can push 2560x for sure. It's suitable only for tablets . Also I don't think 300 ppi will be a restriction for human eye

Chinese stuff tends to sound good on specs but often usability is terrible....
If these specs are true, the oppo find will probably have better specs than the galaxy S4
I remember looking at the Oppo Find 3 around the time of the SGS2, it was a nice looking phone with good specs, but it was more expensive than the SGS2.

Who knows about quality of Camera, sound, dynamic?
Will see! For now all China phones half a crap
Won't have good dev support= no good
Made in China= everything falls apart when you look at it
Simples!
The problem with the Chinese devices is that they use an annoying version of android like miui, lewa etc. If they just use AOSP with added features and theme they could blow samsung away!

Where do you think the iPhone is made and 65% of Samsung Galaxy, anything can be manufactured in China to quality standards, if the customer pays the correct cost, pushing down the cost to have it cheaper means lower quality parts.
Just when it looked as Samsung will be the first, or even Oppo who boasted they will do it first just yesterday, Vivo, at Beijing's Water Cube event center in China, has finally released the world's first mobile phone with 2560x1440 pixels resolution.
The Vivo Xplay 3S features a massive 6" 2560x1440pixels QHD(not the same as qHD) display with a PPI sum of 490 — though huge, but unfortunately not crashing through the 500 PPI barrier as expected(if it came with a 5.5-inch screen).
The phone is powered by's Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 8974AB SoC, 2.3GHz Krait 400 CPU, 3GB of RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. The power juice is supplied by a 3200mAh battery. The Xplay 3S sports a 13MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, and can record 1080p motion pictures.
Now, away from the basics, the Vivo Xplay 3S is the model of a 2014 flagship. A fingerprint sensor just below the flash and stereo speakers at the back makes you wanna wish Santa for one right away.
Is the 2K resolution a bad-ass feature or a gimmick?

Not quite sute if our eye will be able to catch the difference of such a display. Personally I can't tell the difference between a galaxy S3 and galaxy S4...
Check out this video by MKBHD. He has a very good point about this 2K displays.

Note also
That Vivo is Made under OPPO's umbrella so technically speaking well you know the rest they are the first lol I want this phone so bad just for its advanced audio for wired music I cant find it anywhere I can trust to purchase it so ill wait some time it will be this the S5 or the find 7 another Oppo device! excited for either or mainly this one my last resource will be to ask a college friend who lives in china right now to go look for it for me lol
vivo xplay 3s seller
hey there,
here is the link for a trusted seller,he had problems shipping before but is now using TNT to ship and all is going smoothly, once you click on the vivo button you can scroll down to the bottom of the page and post questions to the seller,he will also put google on it for you before shipping
and i must say it is an awesome device...the antutu benchmark blows everything else out of the water, the only two cons are you cannot replace the battery and no ex sd other than that it just rocks...oh and you have to learn the os because there is no manual for it:good:

Have you even bothered to look at any reviews of the phone before making this pointless post? It really depends on what features in a phone you are looking for. e.g. smaller screen, style, hardware specs, etc. Supposedly there's another S5 version coming out (launching in Korea first) that has 2560 × 1440 resolution, compared to the current S5 at 1920 x 1080 res. Meaning that will match the LG G3 in terms of resolution currently available in the market which means higher PPI, but on a 5.1" device you're not going to really notice a difference. Also the LTE hardware in the phone is upgraded capable of reach 225Mb/s. The new S5 LTE-A will have the new Snapdragon 805 processor.

Ok, so i love Motorola as a company, despite the recent hate (which is not justified in my opinion), i love all their products and i think they are great. I owned a Moto G 1st gen and bought the Moto G 2nd gen right after the launch and loving it even more after Android L update, so i have a wish list for the next gen
If they want to dominate the mid range phone segment and make a killer smartphone i would recommend the next wish list, i don't know if it is possible for the price, so here it is:
Display: 5” - 5.5" full HD IPS 1080 x 1920 pixels
Processor: Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 615 octa-core chipset (MSM8939) 64-bit
GPU: Adreno 405
RAM: 2 GB A MUST!
Storage: 16GB, microSD card slot, up to 64GB
Camera: 8 Megapixel Rear Camera, 2MP Front Camera
Battery: 2700 mAh
Software: Android L or latest
Dual front facing speakers
And all the conectivity, GPS, microUSB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth etc.
For the same price! Or max 200$
What do you guys think? Is it possible?
You are pretty much describing the Moto X, but at the price of a Moto G.
I'd say 5-5,2", 720p screen, Snapdragon 410, LTE , 16GB ROM, 2GB RAM, camera stabilizer, microSD, 2700 mAh battery. So the same thing with a bit of an improvement in the processor, LTE, more RAM, more battery and stabilization for the camera; exactly what the Moto G 2nd Gen lacks of.
Just more RAM - 2 GB would be the best possible improvement. With the other specifications I am ok actually.
I only add more RAM and 64bits processor
And LTE By default for all models
Sent from my XT1068 using XDA Free mobile app
2GB Ram
Snapdragon 615
LTE
Adreno 405
2400 mAh battery
That would keep it competitive with newer mid-range phones coming out.
Keep the screen the same. Camera could use some improvement, but I don't want a bump in price, so I could do without that. I don't even mind 8GB internal since it has an SD slot.

Moto x 2nd gen has a snapdragon 801 32-bit processor and a amoled display where are they the same? Please point the similarities here is the spec list of the X 2nd gen http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_x_(2014)-6649.php
Well, I meant "a" Moto X. I just don't see it happening for 179-200$ and those specs are high-end, so if you wanted something similar you should be looking for a Moto X. It'd cost you, but you aren't getting this at that price.

The price for those components will drop by the end of the year when the Moto G 2015 wil come out, look at this phones, and you will see it is possible Zenfone 2 http://www.androidauthority.com/asus-zenfone-2-hands-first-impressions-579187/ 200$ for the base model, ZTE Blade S6 $250 and you get Lollipop, Snapdragon 615, LTE, and a 13MP camera http://www.androidauthority.com/zte-blade-s6-price-specs-features-583086/

Those really aren't high end specs in 2015, that's similar to what the next crop of already announced midrange phones is offering. Component are getting cheaper and the mid-range market is more competitive now than when the first Moto G came out.
An OLED FHD display would be nice, especially for the night mode so the smartphone can finally be used as a suitable nighstand alarm clock without that awful background light all the current smartphones are emitting... !!!
Other than the above:
64bit 4/8 core CPU
2GB of LPDDR4 RAM
16GB ROM
Gorilla Glass 4
Replaceable 3200 mAh Li-ion or Supercapacitor
8-12 Mp Camera with stabilization and depth sensor
2-5 Mp Front facing camera
5"-5.1" FHD OLED display
Better stereo front speakers
And maybe a little less plastic for the housing
My wishlist would be basically slightly upgraded Moto G LTE
4.5" screen
2Gb ram
Larger battery
Better camera
8GB ROM with microSD slot.
Wireless charging.
Sidenote, I'm not convinced that Moto G needs to over 5" screensize because one of it's strongest selling points aside from clean OS is that there are very few options in it's size group unless you go for used and/or older models. For example, Samsung's compact models are really underwhelming while Sony's offerings are very expensive, then you have random budget-brands which I wouldn't touch even with a 10-foot pole. LG has couple models that are pretty close, but display resolution is disappointing.
if thats what the 2015 moto g is going to have, im leaving the flagship, sorry, this is my choice
As per the specs u want be ready to pay heavily as u have described a Moto gen X 2
---------- Post added at 11:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:49 AM ----------
And by considering the specs suggested by some members i think it will beat the price of Nexus 6 or Moto X 2 . lol
