[Q] Returned to stock, cannot enter recovery! - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wonder if anyone can help me here, i have successfully returned to stock following this guide but have a big problem. I cannot get into recovery at all to do the factory reset. My phone boots but an error message pops up saying system.ui not responding and it does not go away, it needs to be factory reset but i cannot get into recovery. Is there a way to flash the stock image and reset the phone via R&D tools? or is there any other way to reset? any help would be appreciated.

What Rom did you flash because on some Roms to factory reset you have to be fully powered off and then hold volume down+power when LG logo shows up hold power button+volume down while for others you have to hold volume up+down after LG logo

Try this, had the same problem yesterday:
If you get stuck in a bootloop rebooting the tablet after unlocking the bootloader...
Here's what you do..
1) During the bootloop.. hold the power button + volume up + volume down button simultaneously to get yourself back into fastboot mode as you were previously.
2) In fastboot mode.. use the volume keys to scroll to Recovery and the power button to select it.
3) In Recovery (Android robot on his back with a red triangle)... tap the volume up button and the power button simultaneously which will bring you into stock recovery. Again.. Don't hold the buttons, just tap them simultaneously. Also make sure you're holding the correct volume button. Up will be the volume key on the right.
4) Once you're in Recovery.. perform a factory reset/data wipe and then reboot your tablet... you should now be back to the Welcome Screen.

Exactly what I did to solve the bootloop after unlock. Worked with no problems after factory reset/data wipe. Just went back to the 4.2.1 I had on it.
With my Nexus 7, when unlocking the bootloader, it would automatically factory reset itself. The Nexus 10 doesn't appear to do this, but it does appear to be a required step regardless (I guess unlocking the bootloader does something that is only fixable with factory reset, for security reasons).
So as mentioned already, a factory reset should take care of things
thanks for the tip.i got something like that,i unlocked rooted the tablet and all was ok untill i went into system settings to update it via ota. after the ota had been downloaded succesfully it rebooted into recovery automatically but failed to update. then i couldnt get into the system any longer even after i flashed factory image using the toolkit in another thread.
i will try this when i get home, hope it can solve my problem too.
edit:done. thanks again for the tip

CRAP, stuck in loop, no way out? (Verizon G2)

Hi all,
Had TWRP installed and was testing out ACIP ROM. Nothing wrong with his ROM, but I accidentally flashed a camera and taskbar mod. Got stuck in a boot loop.
Now, I can't get TWRP to load, all I can get is the "Factory hard reset" screen, which I believe is a big no no if you don't have factory installed.
Please help. Please....
PS by "boot loop", I mean the ACIP load screen just sits there forever until I do vol down + pwr buttons.
Well, flashed back to stock. Booo

As I am apparently too late to help here, I'll post this for future reference.
With a custom recovery installed, the factory reset screen still shows up, but when you press the power button twice to confirm factory reset it simply boots you into the custom recovery... no factory reset occurs.

Not sure what to do

I traded my GS4 for a G2. It was already rooted running CleanROM w/TWRP. I wanted to try out another ROM so I dld AEON rom and gave it a go. I did a reset/wipe in TWRP but I DID NOT manually wipe. After the flash the phone shows the "LG" splash screen and goes dim and the LED flashes blue to green. I am able to boot into the reset screen. Once in there I was told to press power 3 times to enter TWRP. As soon as I do that it goes into TWRP and starts a hard reset which fails and reboots. Please help!!
Is there a way to enter recovery without starting a hard reset?
Volume down and power from power off state until lg screen then release keys for 1 second and both same again u get warning for reset, power button twice fir next to warnings and it will take u to twrp, yes all u need is factory reset in twrp for new roms in lg twosome people had issues booting up first time try flashing again.

yes, flashing stock kdz brings stock recovery back.
The new combination is, hold power + volume down until you see the lg logo, release shortly, then hold volume up and volume down(this will perform a factory reset).
Try connecting to a pc, turn on debuging mode. Download adb, type adb reboot recovery
or terminal emulator from play store --also reboot recovery
Hi thanks for the help the new combination is still not working do i have to get the timing perfect or what?
Well. Is it the new 20b and 20d? Power off the phone. Hold vol down and power until the lg logo, release just for a short moment and then hold just volume up and volume down.

Thankyou soooo much adb worked and i got to the recovery and did a factory reset and cache reset from there. Is this the same as the button combination reset or are the two resets different? and i did data wipe reset first then cache reset is that right?
Again thankyou so much for your help i really appreciate it.:good:
One last question how do i wipe dalvik cache without root and custom recovery?
It's the same. They changed the combination since 20b(new 20b)

You can't. You can do a factory reset from settings or manually per APP clear caches.

So far so good. Backup not needed.
ROOT still shows up in download mode
I followed the very same procedure to return my phone to stock firmware, but when i enter download mode, it still shows up as "ROOT" in red in the bottom. And i'm unable to enter stock recovery or even the hard reset menu(the one where power button needs to be pressed thrice to reset).
PLEASE HELP ! I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with the device:crying:

Help Please... Messed up new LG G2

Hey Guys... I've been searching XDA and the internet for a couple hours now on this, and am finally posting. I just got a new LG G2 on AT&T. I rooted with Towelroot, and rushed to change the DPI in Build.Prop without installing TWRP first, which was quite stupid... I changed it from 480 to 400 which has worked for me in the past on a previous G2 (on Verizon)...I don't have USB debugging enabled either.
In any case, when the phone boots up, it shows the AT&T logo, and then an error "Unfortunately the process com.android.systemui has stopped". I can hit OK...then I get a screen with just the wallpaper and an error "Unfortunately Home has stopped", and I can't hit anything.. it doesn't respond.
I installed the phone drivers from LG's site... I can't seem to connect via ADB or Fastboot (although I less familiar with Fastboot)... If I enter recovery by holding down power and volume down, it asks if I want to reset the phone, but doing so just gives me an error "error: boot certification verify" and reboots...
Is there any way I can connect via adb, fastboot, or some method to modify the build.prop file?
Thank you!!
@rockon83 I dont think there is a way to enter fastboot mode like that without a modded bootloader and adb also not.
You can try to get into download mode and flash stock kdz/tot again and then normal flash to keep your app data.
Thanks wulsic... If I press and hold the volume up and then plug in the usb cable, it just shows the charging battery symbol... I can't seem to get into download mode....
Am I screwed?
If You're just rooted can't you simply enter stock recovery and factory reset? Turn off the phone, hold vol down + power button together, when LG logo appears release then just hold power button. That should get you into stock recovery where you can factory reset.

Same situation happened to me except for the not being to get into download mode part. Only way I was able to resolve it was to flash back to stock via the tot method. I used this video How to Unbrick or Restore the LG G2 ATT Version: http://youtu.be/kqw_LFuyHbE
I think there is a thread on here on how to fix not being able to get into download mode. But I think it's for the D802.

Found it, but like I said I don't know if it will help you out.

You can do try a factory reset. Hold down the VOL - and power, when you see the LG logo, let go then press and hold the power again.
