Hi all I'm in Australia with an unlocked XSA (unbranded) GT-I9505 knox flag tripped... who cares lol.... I have never flashed new bootloaders but plenty of modems.
Does it matter which bootloader is used to flash and upgrade to 4.4 as stock firmware is still unavailable

Hey mate, I'm running Echoe rom v34, and never have had to change bootloader or anything like that to get custom roms to work, echoe rom is upto 4.4.2.

Hi, I use apps like sky go which mean I cant be rooted. Currently stock latest BTU so have a knox bootloader, but no knox app (annoying messages EVERY day )
All I want is stock 4.3, unrooted. Is this possible?
I remember someone once saying csc was all bullcrap and most firmwares were interchangable if using Odin. Is this correct?
Many Thanks

Yeah, It is possible, download it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252982 and flash via odin, It will not trigger knox counter because it is officialy signed by samsung
Just looking for if this is true or not? There seems to be conflicting info in the general thread about this. Basically does flashing an official rom from sammobile trip the knox counter?
I know in the past with samsung devices I had, the flash counter would never increase as long the rom was official even if it was from another region.
Just interested in flashing an unbranded UK rom to my 9005 so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks for the help.

If you want to debrand this should be alright as long as you use a rom from the same region / country.
So if you have an uk branded phone, you should flash stock unbranded uk and this shouldnt trigger knox.
Not sure about region differences, but that could trigger knox.
But all this updates the bootloader - I'm still trying to find out what the real consequences are.

It's actually a Malaysian phone so I would be switching over to another region with the UK rom. I just know with my galaxy tab 2 you could flash roms from where ever and it wouldn't trip the counter as long as it was official. So it looks like this isn't the case anymore?
I had Australian TEL and flashed UK BTU and it didn't trip. Just make sure you factory reset after flashing to get the CSC to change.

Ok that's good to know. The only other thing then is what is everyone talking about how the boot loader apparently changes when you flash a different rom?
Just make sure you flash a recent firmware. Apparently there were some phones that shipped without a secure boatloader. If you flash one of these over a secured one it will trip the flash. Basically if you a recent firmware you should be fine.

+1 this experience.
AFAIK flashing stock firmwares via odin won't trip the Knox binary counter...

So I've tried to make some sense of it all there are so many variants of S4 out there .I have recently started the hunt for a S4 and I'm looking for one with the unlocked bootloader and trouble free rooting. Which one would that be ?
I9505 you'd need it to be on a 4.2.2 firmware like MGA anything pre KNOX. Also we can flash GE roms so KitKat soon too.

Official MIUI will be available for GT-I9500 soon.
What's MIUI? Imo you should buy the I9505. More rom development for that. But I9500 has better camera slightly and sound and the 8 cores, but no LTE/4G. I have this variant but in my honest opinion I'd say get the I9505.

I9505 I'd say too. More support, roms and you can always flash google edition rom! Plus it has 4g and openGL ES3.0 support on Android 4.3!

Hi all, I have a Gt-i9505 with a branded firmware that is sim unlocked, I would like to flash the newest firmware that is Unbranded...... Is this at all possible??

Yes this is possible. Flash rom via Odin. Do note new formwares have knox enabled bootloaders if your on a pre knox firmware. There's plenty of discussion here what knox is and the knox warranty issues etc read up on it all before deciding what to do.

It's risky and not recommended. Apart from whether it would work well, you could brick your phone. Which can be difficult and ocassionally, not possible to recover from.
There simply isn't a lot of reliable information about flashing firmware from other variants.
I won't encourage you to do it, but I would speculate that it's possible. That NFC and a few other things would stop working and that it would be a pointless exercise. You'd also run a moderate risk of bricking your phone. You could reduce that by only flashing the ROM, not the kernel or modem. And in particular if you find the appropriate 900F PIT file and flashed it concurrently.
No warranties, guarantees or anything else. If you proceed, don't say that you weren't warned.
What stands out though is that you omitted a crucial and highly relevant datum. Why? What are you hoping to achieve in doing this?
.
No you cant. Its like trying to install to install XP windows program on W8

What's on the stock F firmware that's not on the stock W8 that you need ? If you flash a ROM your Basebaband will stay W8 but your phone version will change. Right now i am using XtreStoLite, my model shows a G900T, my baseband is still a W8 ( i'm in Montreal ) and the SE status is enforcing a 900F.
So you flashed a G900T over a G900W8?
My case its a G900W8 (Rogers) and a just want a Multi-CSC option, because I`m live in Brazil and want use the ZTO CSC (for Portuguese, etc). My question: The rom needs be specific to support W8 variant or a 900F can be flashed over TWRP ?
I tested with CM12.1 Nightly, works well, not specific. Just KLTE version. My desite is just a stock version with multilanguage support To my dad usage.
