Unbranded firmware - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I have a Gt-i9505 with a branded firmware that is sim unlocked, I would like to flash the newest firmware that is Unbranded...... Is this at all possible??

Yes this is possible. Flash rom via Odin. Do note new formwares have knox enabled bootloaders if your on a pre knox firmware. There's plenty of discussion here what knox is and the knox warranty issues etc read up on it all before deciding what to do.

Does flashing an official rom from another region trip the knox counter?

Just looking for if this is true or not? There seems to be conflicting info in the general thread about this. Basically does flashing an official rom from sammobile trip the knox counter?
I know in the past with samsung devices I had, the flash counter would never increase as long the rom was official even if it was from another region.
Just interested in flashing an unbranded UK rom to my 9005 so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks for the help.

If you want to debrand this should be alright as long as you use a rom from the same region / country.
So if you have an uk branded phone, you should flash stock unbranded uk and this shouldnt trigger knox.
Not sure about region differences, but that could trigger knox.
But all this updates the bootloader - I'm still trying to find out what the real consequences are.

It's actually a Malaysian phone so I would be switching over to another region with the UK rom. I just know with my galaxy tab 2 you could flash roms from where ever and it wouldn't trip the counter as long as it was official. So it looks like this isn't the case anymore?
I had Australian TEL and flashed UK BTU and it didn't trip. Just make sure you factory reset after flashing to get the CSC to change.

Ok that's good to know. The only other thing then is what is everyone talking about how the boot loader apparently changes when you flash a different rom?
Just make sure you flash a recent firmware. Apparently there were some phones that shipped without a secure boatloader. If you flash one of these over a secured one it will trip the flash. Basically if you a recent firmware you should be fine.

+1 this experience.
AFAIK flashing stock firmwares via odin won't trip the Knox binary counter...

Question: flashing new firmware via Odin.

I'm going to buy a i9505 via three and its HTS firmware. Can I flash NEE firmware without tripping Knox or e-fuse? I don't want to root it right now, just have it without threes menus and logos...

[Q] SM-N900 International

Hi I recently root my note 3 SM-N900 with CF-AutoRoot, so when I go to Download Mode this is the information that it show me:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-N900
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
So I can´t see the Knox counter 0x1,
so I think that if it don´t show the information of Knox maybe it is not void the warranty, but I´m not sure.
now here are my questions
1. How to unroot and back to Official Stock Firmware?
2. If I unroot my note 3 can I use again Knox or not?
thanks for the help, and sorry for my bad english.
Have a nice day.
Flash the official firmware via Odin and it will unroot it. But I'm pretty sure if you used cf autoroot... Your knox will be 0x1

Ok I will try.
one more thing how can I update via OTA, when I try it say that it cant update because I have a Custome Firmware.
Man, you have the old Exynos boot loader which hasn't any knox flag, if you're gonna flash something make sure it's not the newest firmware (MJ7) via Odin or you'll update your boot loader which has a bit counter similar to the knox one, just custom Roms I'd recommend you.

Yea you'll be ok with this. It's the old bootloader

Whatever you do ."DO NOT UPDATE " . Continue using the same rom .once you update via OTA , YOU will never be able to downgrade to lower rom and worst a warranty bit will be activated which will make you loose warranty for life.irreversible

Already read that, but stating my doubts are:
-Even if you flash a KNOX-enabled firmware via odin (e.g. the latest fw) knox will be set to 0x1
-Flashing unsigned or modified images via odin will set knox to 0x1

Bootloaders Gt-i9505

Hi all I'm in Australia with an unlocked XSA (unbranded) GT-I9505 knox flag tripped... who cares lol.... I have never flashed new bootloaders but plenty of modems.
Does it matter which bootloader is used to flash and upgrade to 4.4 as stock firmware is still unavailable

Hey mate, I'm running Echoe rom v34, and never have had to change bootloader or anything like that to get custom roms to work, echoe rom is upto 4.4.2.
