hi guys
im using paranoid custom rom(tried with carbon and slimROM) but since colors are washed out and its unable to change them with faux with their stock, music works great and i can listen it for hours without any issues
but when i put custom kernel (tested with franco, AK, hells core, hells doctor) it all have same issue, my music starts to distort for few seconds every now and then (every few minutes for few seconds)
EDIT:
i tried to use multiple programs for music same issues everywhere
any idea how to fix it, is it kernel issue, or something else?
does anyone else have this problem?

I have noticed that almost all the issues which cropped up in Eclair or Froyo versions of G3 were resolved one way or the other. However, one issue that still remains (atleast for most of us from what i can gather) is the audio issue.
It has been frequently reported that while playing music, a "crackling" or "radio static" noise is heard, especially in the silent portions of a track. I have tried almost everything to resolve this - played the same track on other mobiles to discount the possibility of inferior track quality, adjusted equalizer, changed kernels, flashed different ROMS (Stock & Custom), Rebuilt audio values etc. but the problem remained. The only possible reason i can think of is whether voodoo affected my settings since that was implemented in Fugumod2.4 Beta3. But this is just an assumption...
For people who do not have this problem or have overcome this issue - could you please share the details on how you got it working ?

Check if it's not related with cpufreq driver ... Use setcpu and set to performance and check if the noise are gone.
In addition, try another player like songbird.
Give feedback
@marcellusbe: Appreciate ur effort in taking time out from ur busy schedule n replying. Anyway, back to the details -
I has used Fugumod 2.4 Beta3 Standard with SetCpu at conservative. Never changed the filesystems. Now on stock kernel. Will flash Fugumod again and try performance on SetCpu. Might take some time. Meanwhile i shall also try SetCpu on stock kernel just as an additional effort. Tried another music player but the same prob. Never tried songbird though, will do. And just as an afterthought, i have never used an OC kernel.
Will give more feedback later. Wishin ya luck for ur CM7 project !
I wonder i dont hv dis problem... music plays fine.. even iphone owners r jealous because of my phone sound quality...!!
I m on indrid 4.3 with fugmod 2.4 beta3 kernel and also have voodoooo.
Never experienced this problem though.
sent from my g3 using xda app
never had this problem.. don't know the solution? maybe u can try android 2.3 (cyanogenmod) it has dsp manager. u can try if that program has a option to solve this?
Hey guys i'm trying to report a weird problem with the sound of my G3 when trying to play music. Whenever i start up the stock music player and play music, when i switch off the screen, i hear a weird cracking sound being emitted by the earphones. It's like an abnormal sound coming from the mobile itself through the jack. I've also tried and used my PC stereo speakers and other earphones but the problem persists.
This happened right after i flashed my mobile for the first time 3 months ago. Whenever i switch off or switch on the screen while listening to music, the same sound is emitted. I could really use some help right now dealing with this as it completely ruins the sound output. Also this happens only when switching the screen off or on while doing a sound related activity on the phone such as listening to music or playing games.
On a side note, the mini stock music player that appears on the lock screen shows a significant lag while switching from one song to the other when using Froyo. This isn't the case with any of the 2.1 Eclair rom's i've used, where the player was very responsive and quick while switching between songs.
Seriously nobody on the forum experienced the same problem, if not can anybody tell me the reason why this is happening to my mobile?

It seems you didn't search the forum before posting this issue. This is a known issue with stock Froyo based ROMs. The only solution for this is to flash Fugumod 2.4 Beta3 kernel which resolves many such issues and the above issue is one of them.
So the kernel G3Mod 1.3.2 ultimate that you've been using isn't having such problems? k thx a lot for your signature.

G3mod has this problem but its not frequent, and it would be fixed probably in the next version. The fugumod version mentioned by me above doesn't.have this bug.
Last time i checked the fugumod 2.4 beta 3 800MHz version didn't work well and led to a lot of freezes and crashes. Also tried the 1.3ghz one and had the same problems. The G3Mod 1.3.2 ultimate is by far the most bug-free kernel i've used, and everything is working perfectly except this annoying problem.

Try using the Ram Optimation Script, it has solved the lag issue for many users. Here's the link for that thread:

Ever since updating to Kit Kat, I've been randomly getting these electronic/buzzing noises when playing audio (speaker and headphone - all audio apps e.g Poweramp, Tunein Radio)
It almost always happens if I interact with the phone while audio is playing. If I leave the phone alone during audio playback, it'll happen as well but not as frequent
I am a constant ROM flasher. This has happened on various builds of PSX, Purity, and Vanilla Rastakat. Changing kernels doesn't fix this either
Anybody else experience this?
Google only brought up this: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=62715
Not sure if that is my exact problem
Maximum Volume that started to vibrate?
and did you flashed any audio tweaks?
Not sure about the maximum volume + vibrate part
But no audio tweaks. Full wipes in between flashing different ROMs.
I wish you'd never mentioned this, because now I hear it all the time. I thought it was someone else's phone doing the buzzing, bit no it's definitely mine

It's not so much buzzing but random electronic noises.
Don't think we're experiencing the same thing. This almost makes playing music impossible to listen to. You definitely would have noticed it a long time ago if you suffer from it

It's especially noticeable while charging. I could be that the audio hardware is poorly shielded, so that charging current and even CPU activity can be heard through headphones. It's not noticeable unless things are quiet though.
Got the same issue on and off, switching from paid Poweramp to free Shuttle Music Player (hurts, cause I love Poweramp) has reduced the electronic distortion noise to stuttering and crackling here and there. Unfortunately, none of Poweramps's buffer size/thread priority/... settings did anything to lessen this problem.
Could not find anything that's a possible cause for this - regardless of the phone being used/charged/active/... these stutters keep appearing.
Any more ideas how to solve these problems other than waiting for Google to release a fix/update?
I have had this issue as well. I did some searching around and other phones had this problem as well. It turned out that they just had to disable LTE and it went away. I thought that was silly, but tried it anyway. I had been using LTE constantly so whenever I changed roms or kernels, I still enabled it and still had buzzing. After seeing the posts, I disabled LTE and the buzzing went away.
This isn't the fix I would like. I would like to still be able to use LTE, but watching videos or listening to music drives me nuts with it enabled.

Thanks for the input, albeit, the N4 wasn't shipped with LTE enable in the radio afaik.
...at least mine wasn't and I have never messed with LTE as a result.
However, I also got the feeling, that the audio stuttering has to do with the N4 radio's activity. Too bad, that switching on airplane mode while you're on the bus is not really a feasible workaround. I guess we'll have to wait either for an audiophile Dev fixing this in a custom Rom or for Google.
Confirmed, I have the same problem. Somehow I think it is linked to a custom kernel. It happens with hellscore, franco and matrix kernel for sure.
Sorry to bump up an old thread, but I have this problem too. Plus it stutters when I connect to wifi or when there is any processor intensive task going on... like doing anything while playing music (ugh). It's not the music because its the same problem whether im streaming on spotify or google play or playing local files. Any help appreciated
Yes I suffer from this issue as well. Both stock kernel, Franco kernel and matr1x kernel. Haven't tried changing ROM's yet. I thought it may have been a compatibility issue with viper4android, but after a full uninstall it still persists. I don't have anything LTE related on this device. It is random, and occurs with all audio, and videos also. I have noticed that when it happens on videos, the videos stutter a bit.

Sorry for bumping this again,
but I also have this issue. I'm on 5.0.2 (SimpleAOSP) with Matrix Kernel 14.5. No matter what player I use, PlayerPro or Poweramp - as soon as I lock the device when playing music I get these random buzzing noises that interrupt playback for a short time. I've had the same issues with Purity ROM and Hellscore Kernel before.
Has anyone got a clue??
Hello all,
I have an LS980 that I typically run the stock based ROM on and sometimes mess around with kernel. As of two days ago, my device while running Slimkat build 7.4 started making sounds (sounds like transformers lol) when the CPU scales during music playback, whether it be through the speakers or earphones. I thought it might be the kernel on the ROM so I reflashed my Stock ROM and stock kernel and the problem still persists!!! I think it is now a hardware issue.
Anyone know what I can do to fix it? I'm about to return completely to stock to find out. Has anyone else experienced this before?
Sound it makes is like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHQIiB4dJfs#t=26
EDIT: Doing a full reset (.tot method) fixed my issue.
Hello. I like to use this phone for about 2.5 years. I tried all kinds of rom, kernel and mod. No latak ever made me happy up to the 4k and 120 fps modes. In recent times, however much I am hanging out in the current android versions, the camera event attracts stock-based ROMs every minute. I am using stock 30f for the last 1 month. But there is a problem with lg-based rom, I can not find any help anymore, no matter what, here in xda or elsewhere.
Simply put, the problem is lagging both the headset and the built-in loudspeaker. While the music is playing beautifully, it sounds like it is for a second. This usually sucks your music in a terrible way. I've tried a lot, but all the android 5.0-based ROMs have this problem. There are a few ways I tried:
-Install or remove the current stable version of Viper4android
-Stoke kernel xceed kernel dorimanx current kernel all the same.
- There is nothing to do with or use stereo speaker mode.
There is also no connection with this practice. My own music player, YouTube, especially Spotify ... As far as I can see, it's not a single FM on the radio.
I'm cold on the phone because of this incident. Do you have a g2 prayer between you. The solution to this problem?
