So Ive been searching for a while now and i seem to find every TAR file to go back to stock for every other firmware except for NC1 Is this because of it being new ?
If i missed it somewhere can someone guide me to it ? I want to root NC1 but i want to have the files to start back at stock just in case another update comes . Thanks

The NC1 .tar for the ATT I337 is not available. It was such a small update that a full odin .tar is unlikely.
Alright thank you , So if i root it and another update such as 4.4.3 i wouldn't be able to get a OTA update would i ?

It depends on the update....some OTA updates check every single system file to make certain you are completely stock( including unrooted). Others, like the NC1 update, only check some of the files.
The 4.4.3 update is supposed to be a minor bug fix(no UI changes) and may still flash successfully even if you are rooted but it is almost certain that you will lose root.
I suggest everyone hold off on taking the next ota update until some of us can evaluate it and determine our options (we say this all the time yet very few listen ).
Okay so the next update won't be like the Galaxy s5 Kit kat ? No difference in the Touch Wiz ? Just bug issues solved ? & Also so would you root your phone as of right now ? on NC1 If you were on it ?

I don't know for certain that we will not get the updated TouchWiz however I highly doubt it.
And I did root my phone with my NC1 100% stock rom and then unrooted once I had it set up the way I like it.
When the next ota comes out I plan on creating a safestrap flashable update zip to test and see if its rootable with towelroot and create a pre-rooted safestrap flashable 100% stock rom as a workaround if its not rootable.

I upgraded to 4.3 last night. I greatly dislike it, and want to downgrade back to 4.2.2
I tried running my phone in Odin mode and installing an older version of 4.2.2 (from May, I believe), but every time I run it, the FAIL box appears. Is there a another way of downgrading, or I am doing it wrong?
Thanks for any and all help!
At this point you are stuck on 4.3 ( I'm guessing Mj6 leak) until there is an odin flashable rom for mj9 the Mj6 update contained knox security among other things that prevents the downgrade (blown qfuse and such) hope that answers your question

I believe he took the OTA update that AT&T pushed overnight. But yes, your correct that he will be unable to downgrade for the foreseeable feature due to Knox and what will likely be another incremental qFuse. I'm staying on 4.2.2 with SafeStrap on MF3 for a few more weeks to see what developments take place due to the release of 4.3 finally.
We need to be more specific when stating limitations. We can assume MJ9 incremented the qfuse based on past updates. So what that means is you cannot revert aboot/BLs to a prior version. It remains unclear as to whether MJ9 BL's will boot prior kernels. I havent had a chance to look at the MJ9 files yet.
What about taking his phone to Best Buy to have them flash MF3 on it?
Could be they still have it in the computer maybe.

The blowing of a q-fuse means it is literally impossible to downgrade, even for Best Buy. Once you're on it, that's it. All they can do is take the new 4.3 build and flash it.
I received the OTA update.
Anyways, thanks for all the quick replies. Is there a way to re-add the "Mobile Data" toggle? I don't like how they removed that, and limited the toggle tray to 10 (instead of being able to scroll through all the toggles).
EDIT:
Is there a way to re-hide the apps in the App-Drawer? (I liked being able to display only the ones I wanted)
awsomeness!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you I use the following instructiuon that is found in this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621279
1.POWER OFF YOUR PHONE AND GO TO DOWNLOAD/ODIN MODE ( VOLDOWN+HOME+POWER)
2.DOWNLOAD ODIN (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2537619&d=1390629800) AND MAKE SURE U HAVE THE LATEST DRIVER INSTALL FROM SAMSUNG KIES
3.DOWNLOAD AND EXTRACT I337MK2_Combined_Odin_Tar FILES
4.START ODIN AND FOLLOW IN ORDER WHERE EACH FILE SHOULD GO INTO ODIN SLOT....
I need confirmation if the above instruction is correct to get the latest update for Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T i337 model?
You're currently on mdl firmware. This firmware allows you to put on a custom recovery and flash roms. Are you sure you want to update? You will no longer have the ability to put on a custom recovery.

Yes to all your question.....i337MK2 tar md5 contain 4 seperated files ( first released ) follow the image guide where u have to place into ODIN SLOT ....the one that said combined ALL IN ONE ( newest released ) mean that u just flash into PDA ODIN SLOT ONLY.....just follow that guide on second post it would get u to latest ATT MK2 4.3 firmware. But like @jd1639 said with MDL firmware u can install anything even 4.4.2 rom and also there is alot of custom stock rom without ATT bloatware out there that u can install .....goodluck and PM me if u need more help. FYI if u got helped by someone please hit THANK button to show your appreciation ....:good::good:
I'll update my S4 to the latest update and you can send me yours. I'd kill for mdl firmware...

Yes it contains all the bloatware, another reason not to upgrade and flash custom roms.
Edit, it has not been mentioned yet but one you upgrade you can not go back to a previous firmware.
When I upgrade to MK2, does this mean I will need to perform factory reset and all my existing app will be gone or will the app remain on the phone even after the upgrade.
I will do the backup before the upgrade but at the moment when I connect the Phone to the PC, it would mot pick up so maybe I will need the latest software driver, is that correct? I have the same problem with Kies which does not recognise when phone is connected.
Any suggestion would be great.

Not always, most times a factory reset is needed to clear the phone of old apps and data. Root, is lost, but apps that require root can still be present which can become a problem when root is no longer available.

He's on mdl which allows a custom recovery and easy flashing of roms. If he upgrades to mk2, the latest, he'll lose that ability. Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47713264
Right, we have a custom recovery and an unlocked boot loader and I flashed an older build of that Google edition ROM, but he just really wants the ability to move his apps2sd. I didn't see a mention of the apps2sd feature in the change logs. Thanks for replying so quickly.

I want to upgrade from MLG to NC2 too. However, there is no direct way to do it at the moment.
However, if you are still at A2, you can use Safestrap to switch between MJ5 and NC2 (Please don't flash NC2 aboot.mbn!!!!!!)
Yes there is just do the mj5 restore that is in this section then follow one of the guides on how to install the ota

As Jerrycoffman said. . . .
Restore back to MJ5 using this guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715
Don't root using the last part. It removes knox which will block you from being able to update the phone.
Next there will be a OTA to install its around 60mb. This is NB4
Lastly, just download kitkat OTA that's available. This may take sometime because it is a larger file size.
A lot of people have had issues installing the Kitkat OTA (including me). It fails at a certain percentage.
If you have this problem just follow this guide to fix it - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701062
Make sure you back up any apps and files you need before starting this
Honestly instead of upgrading to official KK, why don't you just root and flash of of the available KK rom which is so much better than stock. Unless you don't care about the custom rom and root, you can follow what other has suggested to get the official OTA. Once you update thought, no way to get it root anymore

Best solution:
Go to Best Buy and ask one of the Samsung people to get you to stock, in less than 10 to 15 minutes you'll be in OTA Kit Kat.
No reason to have OTA kitkat when you lose root.

The NC1 update is provided by your carrier. You should just be able to do a check for updates on your device and it'll find it. Please know that it's a very recent update and not much is known about how it affects custom ROMs or the rooting process. I updated to it and I'm waiting to see what the experts here say.

I honestly do not trust the update and I will explain. I believe the update was pushed to prevent us, the custom ROM users, from downgrading back to mf3. We all know that in mf3 there is an exploit where we can change the kernel inside the memory or something like that. I am rooted on nb1 and am running a bootloader that lets me downgrade back to mf3. It would make sense to me that they are trying to prevent that exploit. I know they probably fix a stability issue or something but I would not flash to nc1 if you don't want custom roms here in the near future.

We could never downgrade to mf3, only a partial downgrade to MK2 from nb1. And jeboo already said the nc1 bootloader does not increment the q fuse counter so you can still go back to nb1 if you want...

On top of that, the exploit is at the kernel level. We can still get the MK2 kernel so we can still get the exploit. That's why bypasslkm still works on the downgrade.

Don't worry, chances are exploits will function still if one is found, and if Hashcode implements kexec you'll still be fine.

I think you should be able to connect through a proxy and download the update over wifi that way. Note that the update will only work over WiFi... not mobile data. I hope you get it worked out.

If you update, you will be forced to use safe strap to boot roms and will lose the ability to flash custom roms and recovery by using LOKI. If this means nothing to you, then there is a flashable ODIN stock 4.4.2 tar file you can download from this forum.
