Nexus 4 + AppRadio as Dedicated Device - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've searched and searched and can't find out how to fix this problem...
I used to use a Samsung Galaxy Nexus as a dedicated device for my AppRadio 2 Headunit, and have recently wanted to step up to the Nexus 4 as my dedicated "AppRadio" device.
I used to have it so my Samsung Nexus would boot upon power detection, and shutdown w/ a tasker profile after power was no longer deteced. This worked great.
When I switched to a Nexus 4 and Slimport, I have no problem connecting to AppRadio if I unplug / replug the device. I'm trying to eliminate the need to do this.
So TL;DR...
Problem: Appradio & Nexus 4 don't detect Slimport upon bootup (if plugged in while booting)
Solution that I don't know how to reach: Either create a tasker command to mimic "unplugging" and "replugging" of the USB, or find a way for the Slimport to autoboot after initializing.
Any suggestions?
Roms: Tried Paranoid & Stock Rooted
Kernals: Tried Franco & Stock
App: Also tried ARL and ARU

Nexus crashes after connecting USB Stick

Hello!
I have a very strange problem with my nexus. I purchased an USB-adapter to connect USB-sticks to my to it (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B006TCXLF4/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
As soon as I connect an USB-stick via this cable the nexus crashes. The display gets dark and it doesn't react on any input. I even can't restart it with the power-button.
Only thing I can do is to connect it to the charger, then it restarts. This happens with different sticks.
The connection works with an other adapter!
Also the comments at amazon say that the adapter works with the nexus 10.
Has anyone experienced a similar effect?
Thanks for your help!
What kernel are u on ?

I am completely stock on 4.2.2.
I am think I will send the adapter back...it must be defective - my only explanation.

Do you have an idea how to Get miracast Running on this device ?? I had successfully connected only once to Sony KDL 42W804a TV. Then it just shows connecting but nothing more..
Miracast on this device works perfectly with every unit which has built in miracast or via miracast usb adapter. Tried on stock kernel and ROM with 10 different TV sets: Philips, LG, Sony and Sammy. Even with latest ASUS LCD. Works perfectly without any issues.

[Q] Bluetooth Mouse

Hi all,
I have a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7 (12) using Multirom to dual boot stock 4.3 and CM 10.2.2 (both devices have same build). The Nexus 4 also runs with franco/ziddey kernal for otg support.
I bought a Bluetooth mouse for my phone and it works on everything but >_<"
My laptop connects and runs the mouse no problem
My Nexus 7 runs it on both stock and CM no problem.
My Nexus 4 will connect to it but no cursor will appear!!! I love the mouse, don't think it's defective (but what do I know) and was wondering if there were any potential issues with my Nexus 4 that could be causing this malfunction.
I had a custom radio (I was having issues with Multirom) installed, so I reflashed to stock and reinstalled everything (without radio, assuming it was wiped with the rest of everything) but to no avail.
I also tried with phone disabled, and in airplane mode, but neither of those worked.
Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas on how it may be solved?
no helps me
Does anyone have a bluetooth mouse they have found to work on nexus 4?

Nexus 7 and Appradio Unchained

After reading through the general Appradio Unchained thread for several hours, I've realized that Appradio in general is device specific in many ways. This became especially apparent after I tried using an Android device Pioneer lists as being compatible with Appradio to no avail. The Nexus 7, and the Nexus series in fact, is not listed as supported by Pioneer but the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 have been confirmed compatbile by many users. Pioneer hasn't even updated their compatibility list in 27 months:

My current hardware:
Pioneer 4000NEX, completely stock
Axxess ASWC-1
Nexus 7 (2013)
Analogix SlimPort adapter
Mediabridge ULTRA Series HDMI Cable (6 Feet) - High-Speed Supports Ethernet, 3D and Audio Return [Newest Standard]
OEM USB charging cable
N7 Software
PureROM-4.4.4-KTU84Q-7-28-14.zip
pa_gapps-stock-4.4.4-20140818-signed.zip
ES File Explorer from Play store
ARU 0.16
CarKeyboard from Play store
4000NEX Smartphone settings: Other, HDMI
ARU Settings:
General > all checked
Keyboard > Change Input Method > CarKeyboard checked, open keyboard settings screen > carKeyboard checked
ARU > Rotation Locker checked, Start GPS Injector checked
Region setting: United States
N7 Bluetooth settings: Connected via phone and media
I then plugged in SlimPort adapter. On the home screen on the 4000NEX, the App button no longer had an X and touching it brought me to a new window, the Appradio window. After the BT connection reestablished itself with the new protocol, the N7 screen appeared on the 4000NEX!
Problems: The screen is very distorted. The y axis is reduced, making the image appear squashed.
Rotation locker doesn't seem to work, as the native rotation on the N7 is carried over to the 4000NEX; if the N7 is upside down, the 4000NEX displays the image right side up but inverts the touch input! Here's a video showing the issue:

Does anyone else have any experience with ARU or Appradio in general?

appradio 3 and galaxy s5

Has anyone got a verizon galaxy s5 to work with pioneer appradio 3? I have rooted my phone, and installed APunchained, but no luck. I am not opposed to a custom Rom or kernal, but cant find a verizon compatible one. Any help would be great. If i cant resolve this, i will have a brand new appradio 3 up for sale.

So I have successfully got this working on My Verizon Samsung S5 (SM-G900V).
Here is my equipment:
SM-G900V with rooted(towel root) 4.4.4 stock rom
ARUnchained Reloaded (Unless you want to wait for years for the kernel to be set to permissive this is the fix. Spend the $30!)
Google Chrome Cast (cable to back to Appradio usb)
Tasker or MacroDroid (I use Macrodroid, it is easy for me to use)
Directions:
1) Verify root on phone (Must be rooted in order to work with ARUnchained Reloaded)
2) Plug in Google Chrome Cast into rear and power usb cable to USB from Appradio
3) Grab a spare laptop, tablet or extra phone (we all know you have at least 3 other devices)
4) Download the Google ChromeCast app (tablet or phone), Laptop (you will need Google Chrome Browser with ChromeCast
extension)
5) Power on Appradio and wait for Happy Android guy on Appradio. (Make sure you connection is set to Others!)
6) Turn on mobile hotspot on phone or device you want to use as mobile data
7) On appradio, touch through all the prompts!
8) Hopefully you see the Chromecast screen
9) Follow setup instructions for Chromecast
10) Once connected and found to work, close the application completely (this is not so important, but this way will teach you
how to cast your screen once you start or your automated system start the app)
11) Open ChromeCast and your will see turn on wifi (DO NOT CLICK THIS!), instead click the menu icon and choose cast screen,
click your Chromecast name and wait!
12) Now once the has happen you should see you phone tablet, laptop on the Appradio screen, if you try to touch now and your
still get the dreaded red X just be patient!
13) Now! Start the ARUnchained Reloaded app
14) Click start
15) Bluetooth will toggle on and off and and you may have to manually connect it from the bluetooth icon on the Appradio to get
it to work.
16) Once your ARUnchained Reloaded app states connection to SPH-DA????? has been established. hit the home button on the
radio or phone.Touch to your hearts content.
DISCLAIMERS:
I do not and cannot verify this for any other platform other than the SM_G900V running similar builds. I can assume that it would work on any other S5 since it is application and bluetooth control and not SELinux permissive driven solution. If you want to be cheap and wait for someone to crack the proverbial nut on this then have fun waiting. I will enjoy my working solution.
