Native email app Arabic font viewing issue 4.4.2 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all:
I have a GT-i 9500 updated to Kitkat 4.4.2, in Samsung naitve email app I have problem.
If I got an email the app doesn't show sender name if the sender name have Arabic font character, you can imagine how much this thing annoy me.
I tried to play with setting but nothing work.
I don't have problem viewing Arabic font in any other app, just in Samsung email app

Maybe try using another email app as alternative? No used arabic font before so no issue for me on the email app.

I just did that, I'm using now Blue Mail & I really love it so much it is much more useful than native app.

Galaxy S i9000 questions

Hi all.
I bought my new samsung s i9000 a week ago. I live in Greece but it came from Germany. I managed to change the locale and now all the text is displayed in Greek. I have installed swype and the greek language pack but I am facing the following issues.
1. Only when I send SMS the greek text is not displayed correctly. On the web etc the greek text is displayed fine. I guess it has to do because the galaxy sends the text as utf-8 and not unicode. But how do I fix this problem? BTW I can read fine SMS I receive in Greek.
2. The contacts have on the right side an alphabetic index for fast search. This is in English. How can I replace it with the Greek Alphabet? In order to search for a contact I need too many steps. The index would solve my search problem.
I would appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I've only had my SGS for half a day so I could be wrong but I think I saw it somewhere in the settings from th home screen, I'm sure there was a unicode option.

I bought it from a Greek e-shop but they told me before hand that it would from Germany. I didn't have any problems importing it because Greece is part of the EU.

Thank you gadget0. You were right. I didn't notice this option.
Now if someone could help me replace the English alphabet with the Greek it would be great. I wouldn't want more from this great smartphone. !!
Go to the market, and download 'Greek Input Method', by bitquill.net. Then activate it from Settings/ Locale and Text.
I personally found it excellent
EDIT: Ah, but I have the same problem, I hadn't tried to send sms in Greek. Sorry
Not sure if this will work in Greek but I had the same problem with sms and Japanese text. I solved it by changing 'input mode' to unicode in the messaging settings. This relies on your recipient phone accepting unicode text and not some other character set. Worked for me anyway.

Great, fixed mine too. Set it to Automatic.
Hmm, I don't think that the 2nd part can be solved that easily, however if your contacts are all in Greek you can search for them with the Greek keyboard. Maybe future firmwares will have the Greek alphabet.. which one do you have now?
SMS max letters & contacts localisation in Samsung Galaxy S
Hi,
I'm confirming the problems of depika for the in-country (Greece - by Cosmote) purchased phone too:
1. Unicode is a workaround that works so that at least we can send an sms, however we are limited to 70 chars,
2. If anyone has locale-only contacts (and not combined english + other lang) please let us know if you get proper sorting layout and not the one that depika reports.
P.S.: Who should we "bug" about regarding this one? Google or Samsung?
Thanks!

Compose email font size too big

Anybody else noticing the font size when you compose an email using the default email client is Way too big? not gmail....but the other email client. I set this up with my office exchange email, it's also the same with my other accounts in the client.
I'm posting this here because it's not rom specific. I've experienced this on Clean, HD, and Beans.
I can't

Take a sec and hit thanks if I helped or if you're in a good mood!
Press the menu button on the left when you have mail inbox open and select font size. That should be all you need to do

This does not change the compose font, it only changes the font size in the message list. I too have the same issue with default email app. i would like to be able to change the font size when composing an email.
Every other email app I tried, uses the system font size, odd that the default does not. If anyone knows how to fix, please let me know.
Thanks.

Well if you change your default font size to tiny then composing an email your font is smaller as well, just tried it and it worked for me

That does not change the composition font, for me anyway. Also, I do not want the font list in the message list to change, it is too small changing it to tiny, I just want the font size when composing and email to match the size used in the message list.

[Q] Receiving Cyrillic sms

Hello guys,
Do you know what font (in system/fonts) is using the stock sms app for Nexus 4. I can't receive Cyrillic messages with any app neither stock nor popular 3rd party (on rooted stock, purity or slimkat). My previous phone was i9000 and had option for Unicode, but unfortunately Nexus seems to miss it. I read on Google that if you change the system font with other Cyrillic one will fix the problem.
Well, I've checked all the font and of course they all support Cyrillic. Even replaced them with fonts from i9000 GB Cyanogen Rom.. So the issue should be in the sms app .. The sad thing is for example when using hangouts app for messaging via internet, Cyrillic text is alright, but from network (as sms) everything is unreadable

SwiftKey emoji problem

Hi,
I've just installed the latest Swiftkey beta which has emoji support. The problem is that when you add a smiley face or something or warns you that it's sending it as an MMS ?!? Why's that ? I have to pay for MMS messages. The default samsung keyboard still manages to add them in as a standard SMS.
