Hi All
I have an i9505 and use a MacBook Pro with Mavericks. Mac won't pick up the device as a USB at all. Have tried the following, with no success...
1. Loaded Kies
2. Loaded Android File Transfer
3. Tried numerous cables
What else can I try?

By default, MTP is enabled and won't mount in OSX.
Kies should allow you to transfer files, make sure you're using latest version and reinstall drivers from it.
If using a hub, try connecting the S4 directly at the MacBook.
From a custom recovery (TW or CWM), you can also mount the sd card.
As last resort install AirDroid (free on play google) which will allow you to connect and transfer files using wifi and a browser.

Hi All,
I've tried everything, including the usb drivers from the root guide and installing the Samsung Kies Mini program, but I can't get Windows to recognize the memory on the device. I want to transfer some movies on the Galaxy and have not been able to figure it out.
When I run the Kies software it says "plug in your usb" and when I plug in the Galaxy nothing happens...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It should work by just plugging in the usb/connector cable. You don't need Kies (doesnt support the 10.1 anyway right now)
When your pc does not recognize your tab, something is fishy about your pc/ usb.
USB connection should work:
(Autoplay should pop up
Select open device to connect (GT-P7510)
Click on phone
Select directory to copy file to)
Sounds like a PC problem. (Look in device manager and see if your USB controllers are ok)
Looked at Device Manager, no issues under USB.
Comes up as an Android phone...
forget the cable...
try 'Samba Fileshare' app free from the Market.
Connect to your 10.1 over WiFi and send files to it via the shared folder it creates.

Worked fine for me without installing anything.
On another note, the Kies software does seem to somewhat support the 10.1 as it installed the required adb drivers when I chose it from the menu.
im having problems too.... for now I am using dropbox.
I have a shared folder on my PC and use ES File Explorer over Wifi, it's simple and works a treat. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&feature=search_result

I had to disable USB Debugging to get mine to pop up. Took me a while.
Oh thank God I am not the only one having this problem,,, i have tried every driver combo out there plus leaving USB debugging off and still i get nothing on my windows 7 machine. I have tried three different machines and all the same so it is not a computer issue i think it is a driver issue or a interface with the tab????
Interesting thing though is that I can push via ADB all day it that connects easy!!! WTF?????

You need the drivers for a windows machine, but none needed for the mac. Have you tried a different port? The cable that came with the Nexus?
Not all USB cables are created equal
yeah, i have tried different ports. I'll try some other usb cables, maybe that may help.
any other tips/suggestions?
I had the same issue

I had the same problem you describe. After some research I downloaded the Android File Transfer onto my Mac and it allowed me to transfer my music between my Mac to the Nexus 7. Keep in mind you won't be able to copy the protected iTunes files. But you will be able to transfer the unprotected music files and other items between your Mac and Nexus 7. Hope this helps

Hi guys,
I have an issue with my Note 3. I connected my device to my PC via the original usb cable. I tried to transfer files from my PC to Note 3 but no success. Every time same messages appear (check the attached files). My PC runs Win XP SP 2 and I think all usb ports are 2.0.
I tried to transfer files with USB debbuging enabled on the smartphone but no success, same messages appear.
I have success only via Bluetooth.
P.S. My device is not rooted and I don't want to root it.
Please help me.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I tried to install kies 3.0 but I couldn't because kies 3.0 needs XP SP3 and above. My PC runs XP SP2.
I installed the latest usb drivers (I tried with 1.5.27.0 and after that 1.5.29.0) and still have the issue.
I do not want to root my device.

Wrong. - You can plug it into your PC and open the device choose Movies/Download/Music/random folder etc and copy across.
As for the issue, it could be because the file is an old XVID codec, sometimes phones hate XVID, and obviously SP2 isn't exactly the best update you can use, Can you try and get SP3? - If not, try using KIES as stated previously Or a WiFi transfer app.
If you can't get Kies 3.0 installed because of OS issues, try installing the latest of Kies 2. At the least, it should install proper USB drivers so you can at least see the device. You don't have USB 3 hardware, so you don't need any of the latest additions the driver supports, and I know the previous Kies drivers worked to see the Note 3 when I first got it. Kies wouldn't support it, but at least I could transfer files.
The first message (about an incompatible file type) is an Android bug. Ignore it, it happens on every device for nearly ecery filetype (even jpeg) and with every connected OS.
Because the file type is not recognized as an Android file type by Windows, it tells you that the device can't natively play that file. You'd need an app. Which we have, called Stock Player or Gallery or any media app, but Windows can't see installed apps on Android.
It has nothing to do with vodecs or containers or root. It's just Windows being ridiculous.
Just say Yes To All.
As for the can not copy.. My TF700 does this, because it disconnects whenever the screen turns off. Are you using a battery saver that disabled connections when the screen is off?
You don't need root or KIES or USB debugging or any other bull**** to use filetransfer to a PC. Just a cable and a USB port.
Anyone who seems to think otherwise is an idiot who aparently isn't even capable of connecting a cable and opening Windows Explorer.

Hi,
I tried with the latest Kies version before kies 3.0. Actually my PC recognizes Note 3 but I have still the issue. I tried with several file types - avi file, as I mentioned below, doc file, mp3 file. First message appears, I click on yes to all and after that the second one appears and I click on skip all. Actually I tried with all opportunities - still have the issue, the files cannot be copy on the phone.
I use the stock battery saver and DU battery saver app from google play. I checked the options but I didn't find any option which disconnects the device when the screen is off.
I think its an issue with transferring large files. Every time I try to tranfer a file around the size of say 2 or 3 gb i get that error.
When connected, drag down the notification center, click usb options(or however its called) and swap from mtp to ptp mode
hit 'thanks' if i helped you

That's the gayiest solution ever, converting videos!
Don't use XP as it doesn't know what vfat is. If you're gona use XP then format your SD card as fat but you will have a 2GB file limit.
Large files use Win7 or a 3rd party app.
I have no problems with large files, 8GB mkv is no problem using Win7.

Follow these steps:
1. Install all video codecs
2. Install kies 3 with all usb drivers.
3. Connect phone, open kies, open phone folder top right corner in kies.
4. Copy file-message appears that file not supported, still continue and voilĂ .
Hi,
I tied with both mods mtp and ptp - no success. These days I'll try with kies 3.0 but first I will have to update my XP to SP3.
Hi, I am having issues when connecting galaxy s5 to PC via USB. I am using rooted (Philz recovery) stock ROM (KK 4.4.2) on phone, and Windows 8.1 enterprise on PC. I was able to connect galaxy s3 just by plugging USB. PC loaded drivers and was able to transfer files no prob. However, tried with s5, PC seems to load drivers as normal, makes audible connection sound but is not showing in windows explorer. I've checked quite a few posts and the general consensus is a missing driver (been to Samsung site and Sammobile to try and find drivers to work, nothing. Samsung just point to 'Kies' and Sammobile just have Firmware), however, windows 8.1 finds and installs latest drivers automatically anyway. I've deleted and re-installed drivers via device manager on PC, checked for hardware changes and updated drivers etc. The PC recognizes the phone as Samsung device in device manager list, makes connection sound plugged and unplugged, even charges the phone while plugged in, but doesn't show in windows explorer to be able to transfer files. I tried USB 3.0 and 2.0. looked on net , found lots of people with similar probs re:s3 and s4, but nothing for s5 yet. Again though, it seems to be missing driver, however, as all drivers are updated/latest, i'm lost as to where to go now. Can anybody be good enough to point me in the right direction please? Thanks in advance. by the way, have also rebooted phone and PC end tried again, no difference, used different leads/connectors, tried MTP, PTP, USB 3.0 modes on phone connection settings blah blah bblah
If anybody knows where I might be able to get a driver that works, would be good, or any other possible solutions would be helpful. Am going to try via Wi-Fi using ES explorer but would prefer to use USB 3.0 as quicker for large files.
Again, thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Hello.
So I tried to transfer mp4 file today from SGS4 to my PC and weird behaviour occured.
When connected to the PC via USB, the phone shows only jpg files (when it comes to media files).
I can't see any mp4 and apk files.
What should I do to be able to see all files under PC's windows explorer?
I have i9506, stock 5.0.1, no root, USB debugging on and off tried.
I have the ADB driver installed - I can browse all files on my other phone, SGS2, with no problem..

You can also use something like Airdroid. Much more stable imo.
Do you think that rooting may have sth to do with it?
Generally 5.0.1 is blocked in many ways. In SGS2 I have 4.1.2 with custom Rom and root.
